21 Hair and Makeup Looks You WON'T Be Wearing Come Spring

From the runways onto department and drugstore shelves, I'm sure we'll see lots of fresh new makeup options and application techniques go full circle come March. Last month in New York, we saw six very wearable trends emerge, from peach lips to bold eyeliner to heavy-handed under-the-eye liners. But throughout the course of New York Fashion Week and other Spring 2010 shows, including Paris, London, and Milan, there were other looks that won't quite make the transition. Take this sequin forehead heart-shaped applique, for instance - straight from the Ungaro show in Paris, for which Lindsay Lohan acted as artistic adviser. While I appreciate each and every designer's artistic flair, some looks just won't translate to real life. See what I mean now.

Coming Soon: Ungaro Meets MAC

After last year's collaboration with Alexander McQueen, MAC is getting fashionable yet again. This time, the brand is working with Emanuel Ungaro, the fashion house headed by 24-year-old designer Esteban Cortazar, on a 14-piece makeup collection inspired by the Fall 2008 runway look.

For the show, lead makeup artist Sharon Dowsett created the look with a painter in mind. "Like Monet’s Water Lilies, it looks better the farther back you stand," she said. Available Oct. 9, the collection is a more earthy interpretation of the house's signature hot pink shades, using muted pink and nude tones to create a naturally flushed. (Blue eyeliner and adds a little bit of an edge; it is fashion, after all.)

Coming Soon: U by Ungaro For Him and For Her

Emanuel Ungaro is quite the busy fashion house these days. Along with releasing a limited-edition makeup collection with MAC later this year, it's about to release two scents: U by Ungaro For Him and U by Ungaro For Her.

I've tried U by Ungaro for Her, and I really like the sweet, floral and slightly spicy aroma. It has a fresh and crisp essence that makes it great for daytime, but it's not subtle - so you should be prepared for a few heads to turn as you work a room. For those of you who are curious about all of the fragrance notes, it contains a blend of blonde woods, bergamot, freesia, pepper blossom, acacia aura, lotus flower, osmanthus, oris, sandalwood and musk.

U by Ungaro for Him is strong, also crisp, but more woody than floral. It has notes of grapefruit, pomegranate, immortale, cardamom, cedar-leaf, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, tonka bean and Peru balsam. It comes packaged in a sleek rectangular shaped glass bottle and sells for $28 - four dollars less than the women's version.

Emanuel Ungaro Apparition Eau de Parfum

About a month ago, Emanuel Ungaro launched a fabulous new fragrance called Apparition. At first I wasn't so sure about this floral, fruity scent, but for some reason it just kept calling me back and now I really like it. Even though it starts off strong, in about a half hour or so, the scent evolves into something much softer and warmer.

Apparition is a blend of sweet raspberry liqueur, spicy cayenne pepper, rose, passion flower, heliotrope and woodsy patchouli. This fragrance is definitely bold and contemporary - even the bottle makes a statement with its tall, slender multi-colored glass design.

The collection includes a two sizes of eau de parfum ($78–$98) and a body lotion ($43). Like I said, I'm a fan - so let me know if you are, too!

Feeling Crafty? Name Lancôme's Newest Pout-à-Porter Lipstick

We've seen it with Tracy Reese and Sally Hansen, along with Emanuel Ungaro for MAC. And now, in the latest crop of makeup-inspired-by-runway collaborations, Lancôme's Pout-à-Porter lipstick is back. But this time, it's in the form of a name-that-shade contest.

Previously, designers Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Peter Som, and Thakoon have all partnered with Lancôme, with some wildly popular results. Next up? Add designer Chris Benz to the mix. His Spring 2010 collection will inspire the next Pout-à-Porter lipstick, which will debut on the pouts of runway models this September. Do you have a way with words? Reese and Ungaro Team Up with Avon

Now that Reese Witherspoon's deal with Avon is out of its beginning stages, we're seeing how her role as the "brand ambassador" is shaping up. Avon has announced the late summer debut of men's and women's fragrances from designer Emanuel Ungaro, and Reese will be the face of the fragrance. Expect to see her in print ads and TV commercials, and don't be surprised if she starts wearing Ungaro to red-carpet events.

If you're more interested in fragrance than celebrity, here's a bit about the scent itself. The women's version of U by Ungaro is a woody floral that incorporates pepper blossom, iris, sandalwood, musk, and wet freesia. (How wet freesia differs from dry freesia, I'm not exactly sure.) With Estee Lauder launching a woody scent this summer, it seems like woodsy fragrances are the next big thing.

Whose Low-Key Makeup Look Do You Like Better?

Zut alors, it's Paris Fashion Week. I'll be bringing you the notable runway beauty looks later on today, but for now, check out a couple of the lucky attendees. I love that Ali Larter (at Emanuel Ungaro) and Rebecca Romijn (at Valentino) didn't feel the need to go overboard; instead, they chose minimal makeup looks. Who do you think looks more polished in Paris?
