I'm kind of surprised by those numbers, given how few people I know are willing to leave the house without a coat of mascara. I'm a big fan of Bobbi Brown's great Long Wear Gel Eyeliner ($21) for waterlining and intense pigment, but Bobbi doesn't make bright teal, which is one of my favorite shades to wear, so I turned to HIP Color Rich Cream Eyeliner ($12). I like it because it sticks nicely on the rims of my eyes, and therefore I don't have any trouble with bright blue smudges. If you're a fan of waterlining, I highly recommend this one.
Trend Alert: White Eye Shadow at the VMAs
You would have thought it was still pre-Labor Day with the way celebrities were wearing white eye shadow on the red carpet. Ladies from The Hills, from The City, and from just plain ol' Hollywood were all about the white out, whether, like Beyonce, they kept it subtle along their upper lids or, like Lauren Conrad, had major white shadow along the inner eyes and lots of black eyeliner along the outer. We already know that white nail polish is a major trend of the moment, so perhaps white eye shadows will also be hot this season.
