With so many choices and so much confusion involved in picking the correct ones, I've decided to delve deeper into what each shade does. Eye-Brightening Makeup Pens

Eye brighteners are sort of in a makeup genre of their own. While they may provide minimal coverage, they are not heavy and dense as a concealer yet they are lighter than a highlighter. These brighteners are for the makeup-advanced, as many makeup artists and professionals swear by them to give eyes an instantaneous "awake" and youthful look. However, it appears that all levels of makeup lovers are catching on, since YSL's Touche Eclat Eye Brightener Pen has reached cult status.

Here's a helpful tip: choose the shade closest to your skin tone, as going too light will create a halo effect around your eyes. Be sure to blend well, so that the product doesn't get caught in the tiny lines around your eyes.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightener ($30) is a sheer color-correcting highlighter pen that brightens dark circles and minimizes discolorations. It works to open up the eye area and smooth out the skin. Use either alone or under your concealer.

Mom-to-be Beyoncé Knowles sat down with Katie Couric on the most recent episode of 20/20 to talk about her latest career ventures and excitement surrounding her pregnancy. Beyoncé, who is known for her glowy skin, looked as stunning as ever. And it's thanks in part to makeup artist Mally Roncal, who created the luminous palette for the multitalented star. To get the look:

Use concealer to brighten under the eyes and around any areas that need extra help.
Use a highlighter and contour powder: the highlighter lifts the face and illuminates the eye area, and the contour powder slims the face.
For the eyes, Roncal used the creamy, shimmery shadow from her Mally Beauty My Favorite Things Collection ($60), available starting this Friday on QVC. She then followed with a smudgeproof eyeliner and volumizing mascara.
