When the film debuted in 1967, it was hugely popular despite (or perhaps because of) its then-shocking displays of sex and violence; today, it's a classic. Though the film is more than four decades old, Faye Dunaway's style would still look cool today. read more. Here's one thing we know for sure about Derek: He likes to fix things. And here's another thing we know: He hates making mistakes. He probably does believe, deep down, that he's a surgical god. And, like Meredith tells Addison, losing all those patients during the clinical trial has made him care even more. But in this case, that caring backfires. It was one little mistake that caused all of Jen's complications, and Derek is determined to fix it, even when the fixes would leave her with a life not worth living. And so I'm on Addison's side for this one: Jen was already gone; the least they could do is save the baby. (Which they do? I think?) But that's little comfort to Jen's husband, who blames Derek for Jen's death. To him, Derek's not a god; he's not even a guy who tried hard. He's just a murderer. So, um, Mark picked the worst possible time to tell Derek about dating Lexie, huh? You'd think maybe he could have been a little more aware of what was going on, but regardless, Derek ends up punching him. And punching him again. Had Owen not run in, I think the two of them could have pummeled each other for an hour. Talk about some misplaced anger. But it's a little sweet - if, OK, totally messed up - to see Lexie and Meredith taking care of their guys at the end. The episode's other big story about the fallibility of surgeons comes from Cristina vs. "The Dinosaur" (Faye Dunaway), Seattle Grace's first female surgeon who's now slipping behind on her medicine. The two of them square off - not surprisingly, The Dinosaur doesn't like being told she's past her prime - but in the end, Cristina's right. After Owen tells her he was fired from the Army because they knew it was time for him to go before he did, she decides this is her last surgery. Meanwhile, Bailey - who's rocking some new curly locks! - is trying to get her packet together for the pedes surgery fellowship, and the chief won't write her a letter. Or rather, he writes her a form letter, and she's mad: "I am Dr. Bailey. I am better than fine!" But he tells her no way is he going to write her a letter so he can abandon him; she was supposed to be the next chief. (Isn't pedes surgery still surgery, though?) In other news:

The Dinosaur's statement about interns not learning anything gets echoed in Izzie's story. Izzie's blood sample - shock! - got messed up, and she's now playing Dr. House with the interns, giving them all her test results (anonymously, of course) and having them figure out what's wrong with her.
I seriously love Arizona Robbins. And I think I'd love her with Callie, because they're equally sharp-tongued: "I spend my entire day around newborns, so I try not to in my personal life." I got a chuckle out of Callie's big "I was in the Peace Corps! I cook!" speech getting stopped by Arizona introducing Callie to her date. Yeesh.
Izzie whining to Bailey about how the interns screw everything up is pretty classic considering how Bailey almost certainly said the same thing about Izzie.
I call overuse of dramatic drumbeats during the fight between Cristina and the Dinosaur. Come on, it wasn't that big a moment.
Owen wants to be around 40 years from now!

Hilary Duff Strikes Back at Faye Dunaway - Totally Inappropriate or Kinda Understandable?

Last week when the news came out that Hilary Duff will be starring in a new Bonnie & Clyde story, apparently no one was more surprised than Faye Dunaway herself. She supposedly commented, "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?" Today, Hilary Duff dissed Faye back saying that younger fans don't know who Dunaway is and then making a slam on the older actress's appearance. A Fabby Halloween: Bonnie (and Clyde)

If you have a Clyde in your life, a fun couple Halloween costume I've always wanted to try is Bonnie and Clyde. Admittedly, the movie has some slow parts, but I just watch it to admire Faye Dunaway in her fast-getaway tweeds and berets, and to admire Warren Beatty's, well, face. No doubt they were the coolest couple of 1967, and they have a timeless appeal. The easy thing about this costume is that you probably already have a lot of it in your closet (or your mom's) already. But you need the blunt blond wig. And your beau will be happy because he gets to dress up as a dapper gangster. To go that extra mile, study how the handsome couple quarrels throughout the movie and bring the shooting drama to the party.

Bella Donna: Faye Dunaway

It's Thursday, which means it's Bella Donna time! You loved last week's choice, Dorothy Dandridge, and I can't wait to hear what you think about this week's, Faye Dunaway. I confess that although I knew she was famous, I didn't see Bonnie and Clyde until a few weeks ago. (It's a great film, so if you haven't seen it yet, rent it! Rent it now!)

As an actress, Dunaway faced the same kind of challenge that many naturally beautiful women do in Hollywood: She had to fight to prove that she was more than just a pretty face, especially because she was a former beauty queen. "I wasn't some brainless beauty, and I didn't ever want to give anyone a chance to draw that conclusion," she wrote in her 1995 biography, Looking for Gatsby. Fortunately, a string of meaty roles gave her the opportunity to show off her skills along with her striking face.

But the look she's best known for is the one she sported in Bonnie and Clyde. When the movie hit screens in 1967, Faye's version of Bonnie inspired countless women to mimic her hair, makeup and style. To get the look, try these tips:

Ask your stylist for a full, chin-length bob (without bangs) and part it on the left side. Approximate Faye's honey-colored hair with Feria Pure Diamond hair color. Top with a beret, of course.
Since Bonnie was busy robbing banks, she didn't have lots of time for elaborate makeup. The look isn't very fussy, so use a tinted moisturizer and concealer only where you need it.
A dash of rosy light pink lipstick, like Shiseido The Makeup Perfecting Lipstick in Shy Pink, will give lips a Parker-like flush.
Keep brows full but well-groomed.
Cream eye shadows will give you a fresh, dewy, we-just-robbed-a-bank look. I like those from Nars, especially Lili Marlene (storm gray) and Grand Bleu (shimmering heather blue).
Finish by using a dark gray or black liquid eyeliner to sweep along upper eyelids, then apply generous application of mascara.
For the perfect accessory, find a Warren Beatty lookalike. (And if you're only thinking of the old dude from Bulworth, again, I implore you: Rent this movie! Then tell me what you think).
