Kate Hudson stepped out for the windy Los Angeles premiere of her new movie Fool's Gold co-starring hunky, father-to-be Matthew McConaughey last night. I didn't think her blue dress was very figure flattering, but I loved the way she matched her makeup to her outfit. Do you think Kate's black and blue eye liner is foolish or fabulous?

Kate Hudson arrived at the 2008 BAFTA Awards in London wearing a stunning gold sequin gown. Her dress choice was apropos for her new movie, Fool's Gold, which is currently ranked #1 at the box office. (Go Matt and Kate!) Back to Basics: The Best Peach Lip Glosses

There's something about peach lip gloss that is universally flattering (but especially on blue-eyed beauties). The challenge is to find the right balance between coral and pink tones.

Kate Hudson wore a frosty coral-peach-colored lipstick to the London premiere of Fool's Gold and just look at how it warms up her skin. Below are my top picks for peach glosses.

Bobbi Brown Brightening Lip Gloss in Peach ($19) is more of a pale, icy shade than a deep creamy color. The shine is incredible, and every time that I pair it with a little bit of bronzer and a champagne eye shadow, it makes my entire face light up. I wish they made the formula a little less tacky, because the only drawback is that I usually have to wear my hair up or else I find that I'm always picking my hair out of my mouth.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Brilliance #05 ($29) is my all-time favorite coral-peach gloss. It has a very thin texture, a fabulously sweet and floral smell, it's not sticky at all and the shine is topnotch. It contains little glitter and mother of pearl particles that seem to catch the light even in a dark room! The clicky-pen applicator also makes it a lot of fun to use.

Benefit Her Glossiness in You Didn't Hear It From Me ($16) is an ultra-shiny, nudish-peach, shimmer-free shade. The sweet smell is alluring, the color is long lasting, and although this gloss is also really sticky, it's gorgeous on your lips.

Coming Soon: Therapy Systems April Fool's Makeup

As you are well aware by now, spring 2008 collections are out in full force creating all kinds of beauty buzz. This new line from Therapy Systems happens to be launching way far away in April, but I've been lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the goods.

While some might call it small, I call it succinct. The six piece collection contains two lipsticks, two gel blushes, a powder blush and an eye shadow. All of the colors were inspired from looks seen on spring runways, and the names come from chic Greek and Italian hot spots. So I'm not pulling your leg, this April Fool's Collection is very real!

Tequila Sunrise Coral Powder Blush ($20) is a shimmery coral blush that gives most skin tones (especially olive skin) instant warmth.
Portofino Rose Gel Blush ($24) is a sheer, dewy and creamy gel blush with a little bit of shimmer. It can also be used as a lip tint.
Santorini Coral Gel Blush ($24) provides cheeks and lips with a subtle touch of coral shimmer. It should blend easily with your fingertips.
Mykonos Eyeshadow ($19) is a pale, shimmery, gold metallic eye shadow that looks great on most skin tones. It can be worn all over your lid or blended with other shadows.

This past weekend, I finally checked out Le Magnetique, Lancome's new limited-edition nail polish that is part of the Mystery Game collection. The bottle has an inconspicuous magnet attached to it; the idea is that you paint your nails, then sweep the magnet across the polish before it dries. Because the polish is infused with oxides, the magnet creates a starburst pattern of sorts. I think it's a cool concept-and if there were a way to make it create French manicures, it'd sell like hotcakes-but I don't think I'd want to wear it very often.

This got me thinking about products that, while admittedly creative and innovative, become super-hot only to fall into the "remember when?" annals of beauty history. The dorkiest trend I latched onto is painful to remember. The year was 1998. The hottest look: hair mascara. Of course, I thought the idea was so cool, and I stalked the Dior counter until the product finally arrived. I fancied myself a modern-day Holly Golightly type, streaking gold through my hair. The stuff smelled bad, it clumped and made my hair greasy. I also looked like a fool, albeit one with multiple streaks of unusual colors on my head.

So now that I've confessed that I once used more mascara on my hair than on my eyelashes, it's your turn. What's the silliest trend you've bought into?
