OnSugar blogger Lesleykat always has the cutest nail art ideas, like this one, inspired by Indian textiles.

To achieve this fade-to-gold manicure, Lesleykat began by applying two coats of Zoya's Areej, a creamy fuchsia pink, as a base. Next, she added two sheer layers of Petites by Scherer nail polish in Universe, a sheer gold shimmer with gold flakes. To deepen the gold near the cuticle, she then applied Gosh's Gold nail polish, followed by a couple of layers of Sally Girl's Gold Glitter (which has both small and large hexagon-shaped glitters) to the entire nail. A swipe of Seche Vite topcoat provided hold and shine.

This Is the Most Expensive Nail Polish in the World

What's the most you'd pay for nail polish? Five dollars? $30? How about $132,000? That's about what this Models Own Gold Rush bottle costs. The shimmering metallic shade doesn't have actual gold in the formula, but the outside is dripping with the real thing - along with 1,118 inlaid diamonds, too. Depending on your preferences, you'll find it either gorgeous or gaudy.

But, back to the cost. The £83,000 bottle is available at British jeweler Frost of London, but a £5 "ready to wear" version of the polish launches in December. We're betting this particular bottle will go unsold, but you can't put a price on the buzz it'll generate.

May I present to you a holiday nail suggestion: glitter-tipped gold. To create this look, I used Sephora by OPI Charge It! ($9) as my base color. Two coats give a nice opaque, metallic finish. After letting them dry for a few minutes, I then applied a dab of clear (glitter polish would work well too) and dipped the tips of the nails right into the glitter. The glitter I used was LA Splash Lady Luck ($7). This glitter is especially cool because it has small glitter pieces as well as larger ones, and it reflects golds, pinks, and greens.

I've always seen a range of gold polishes available in stores, but I never knew anyone who actually wore them. However, in the past two episodes of The Hills, I've spied pale gold digits on Heidi Montag. They match her newly lightened hair well and since we know that metallics aren't going anywhere, it's only natural that this gilded trend has trickled down to the fingertips. Here are a couple of wearable gold polishes to help liven up your holiday look!

MAC Gold Veneer Nail Lacquer ($10) is part of their Holiday Antiquitease Collection. It is a frosty gold, almost tarnished yellow shade that contains UV protection as well as new technology to make it extra extra glossy. Zoya's new Fleck Effect topcoats ($8 each) are full of Mylar "flecks" that create a pretty holographic effect on nails. They're all transparent and pretty versatile, but if we had to choose one we'd take the pink shade, Chloe. The orange, gold, and red tones in the flecks will go well with any warm-toned nail polish, and the shade reminds us of the fire inside an opal. The other two shades, Maisie (blue) and Opal (green) are also really fun to wear, but Maisie looks better over cool-toned polishes, and Opal is prettiest over black, navy, and green, making it a little more edgy. Justin Bieber's Gold Polish Gets a Gold Star

Some of us are too old to be stricken with Bieber fever, but I really don't think any of us are ever too old for gold - polish, that is. Justin's Nicole by OPI One Less Lonely Girl nail polish collection sold out at Walmart almost immediately last month, but a whole new crop (including eight more colors) has been released at a wider selection of stores, including Ulta, Target, and Walgreens.

Putting the whole teen dream thing aside, I have to say that I was pretty impressed with Not a Gold Bigger ($8) from Justin's second batch of polishes. Almost an old-gold shade, this muted metallic is neither too shiny nor dull. Because it's also not very flashy, it's surprisingly very wearable for daytime. Read: you won't feel like a teenybopper if you're donning this particular auriferous shade. I like to think of it as almost like jewelry. Two thin coats were plenty, although the next time I wear it, I'll definitely be using a topcoat to prevent chipping.
