My friend always figures you can tell if a blonde is a "bottle blonde" if her eyes are dark in color. "It's just not natural for a blonde to have dark eyes," she'll say. While I am not studied in the many variables of genetics, is my friend's theory on track?

By now, you probably know that based on the color wheel, there are certain eye shadows that make each eye color pop. Purple, for instance, is great for green-eyed girls, while bronze looks lovely on those with blue eyes. Brown-eyed beauties, however, are the luckiest of the bunch, as most shades look great on them.

There are many factors that go into choosing the right eyeglass frames. You can look to your face shape, skin tone, hair color, and of course — personality. Like I've said before, there is no magic formula.

It seems to me that the majority of makeup wearers opt for the fairly standard hues of brown or black. Pretty, but a bit boring, nonetheless. For New Year's Eve I went bold with a bright blue liner, and this got me to thinking about the rainbow of colors available beyond traditional shades.

When it comes to eyeliners that get the coveted go-to status, I look for creamy texture, an easy-to-smudge quality, and most importantly, something that doesn't creep down to my cheekbones by 5 p.m. By George, I think I have found a match in Neutrogena's Nourishing Eyeliner in Spiced Chocolate ($8). A multifaceted dark chocolate shade with the subtlest of bronze-toned sparkles, this rare gem of a product makes green eyes truly pop — something that I haven't found in a liner for ages.
