Definition: Disconnected Haircut

The next time you're feeling particularly edgy, why not consider getting a disconnected haircut? A disconnected cut can be short, long, or a combination thereof, and can vary in shape - but its distinguishing characteristic is the step (or steps) in extreme lengths that occur within the style.

It's almost like two cuts (or more) in one, since the different lengths are not blended together. Because of this, disconnected cuts also typically have lots of texture and movement. Hairstylists often use disconnection to show off a certain element of the haircut or to highlight a cool color. Are you feeling bold?

Would You Sign a Contract That Had Stipulations on Your Physical Appearance?

The recently pixified Emma Watson said that she was contractually obliged not to cut her hair while working on the Harry Potter films. (In case you're counting, that's about 10 years of having the same haircut.) This got me thinking about other celebrities that have signed contracts with stipulations on their physical appearances. Rosie O'Donnell apparently was asked that she not cut her hair as part of her negotiations for The View back in 2006. And then there's the notorious boyish cut Keri Russell had in her Felicity days, which had a studio bigwig declaring, "Nobody is cutting their hair again on our network." Of course, these tales are all part of the Hollywood game. But if you were asked to sign a contract that put stipulations on your physical appearance, would you?

I am flirting with the idea of switching salons. The only problem is I am a bit hesitant to try a new stylist. My budget doesn't exactly call for trial and error, so the one I choose has to work out. I did my research and checked out the websites of the salons I'm most interested in, however, I am a little overwhelmed. Do you guys have any advice when it comes to choosing a new stylist? Please share.

Lots of stars have tried the daring mohawk throughout the years, and now we can count model Agyness Deyn as one of them. Earlier today at a photocall in London, Agyness showed off her new look, but she's no stranger to wearing adventurous styles. Not only has she tried a variety of hair colors, but she's also very experimental with her haircuts, from bowl cuts to buzz cuts. Agyness is one of those lucky people who could wear just about anything and still look amazing, and I think she pulls off the mohawk rather nicely. What do you say?
