Which Hair Color Do You Like Best on Amber Valletta?

Model, actress and mother Amber Valletta's latest hairstyle is bright, blonde, and feathered. I've always pictured her with light hair, but over the last eleven months, she's gone from dark brown to dirty blonde with gingery-colored low-lights. Something I've also noticed is that she's not big on wearing lots of makeup, not even to events, which I think is cool. Some people are just very comfortable in their own skin. Which hair color do you like the best on Ms. Valletta?

New Product Alert: TIGI Bed Head Hairdryer

TIGI has just come out with a 1875 Watt Fibre Optic Tourmaline Active Ionic Dryer ($49.99). The dryer has cool and easy to detect "gem-colored" heat indicators that allow you the choice to dry your hair with negative or positive ions. Blue means it will dry your hair more quickly, and green means that it will open up your hair cuticles to boost volume.

Other features include an airflow concentrator (you know, that narrow nozzle attachment), a diffuser (to help create waves), a light motor, a cold shot button, two heat choices, two speed choices and a three-year warranty.

Supposedly, it also really helps reduce frizzies. I'm curious to know how well it really works, or if it is more of just a gem gimmick than anything. This is one of the least expensive tourmaline dryers I've seen, so my interest is definitely piqued.

Beauty Marked: A New Hairdryer

Ever since my Solano Top Power 3200 Hairdryer broke, I've been looking for a new one with the following criteria:

My hair gets frizzy so I need a hair dryer with a narrow nozzle attachment.
I like it to have a high wattage so it doesn't take me forever to dry my long hair.
I love the cool shot feature. It's an essential if you want to set your hair in different styles.
It has to be lightweight since I travel frequently.

Beauty Mark #1 found by Nannychica, is the Conair Ceramic Ionic Styler, $25.99. It is a ceramic dryer that has a self-regulating heater in it that creates even heat distribution, less frizz and more shine!

Beauty Mark #2, was found by emisaurusrex. She chose the T3 Beespoke Featherweight Dryer $200. This is a pricey dryer, but what makes it stand out from the rest is that it dries your hair up to 60% faster than most, it's ionic to protect your hair and it weighs only 13 ounces.

Do You Ever Buy Beauty Products Just Because They're Pink?

Everywhere I go, there seem to be "special" pink versions of almost every beauty product and styling tool - even before Breast Cancer Awareness month begins. Just looking around Walgreens yields multiple pink hairdryers, a pink straightener, a smorgasbord of pink skin care, body wash, and makeup, and even pink earplugs and a pink callus-scraping blade. Charming as pink products are, I resent some of the more brazenly pink-as-selling-point ones - cynical marketing ploys that essentialize the entirety of the female buying process are not the way to my wallet. We're all, men and women alike, bound to like colorful products better, but the thing is that I'm sure I would like something just as much, or more, were it a gorgeous turquoise or a juicy tangerine. How 'bout you? What do you think about seeing beauty through rose-colored products?

Should Taxpayers Pay For a Politician's Makeup?

Over in merry olde England, there's a big, nasty poopstorm going down thanks to some members of Parliament. A recent newspaper report revealed that MPs have been submitting receipts for personal items, and those expense reports are reimbursed with taxpayer dollars. Jo Swinson, a 29-year-old MP who earns the equivalent of more than $101,000 for her job, submitted receipts for an electric toothbrush, hairdryer, eyeliner, and lip liner. Swinson insists that she needs these items because she commutes to London from her home, and that she never expensed eyeliner. Do you think that politicians should have these expenses paid for, or are they just getting greedy?

Product Review: T3 + Orlando Pita Plump

Orlando Pita, the stylist behind some of the fashion world's most beautiful hairstyles, has collaborated with hairdryer heavies T3. The result is T3 Plump Heat Seeking Liquid Hair Plumper ($38), a spray-on treatment that promises to deliver thicker, stronger hair with tons more volume. To use it, you just spritz it on damp hair before using the hairdryer.

The packaging is really simple, and although this is just a little detail, I liked the way the pump spray delivers the product. Instead of coming out in an angry burst, it mists smoothly and evenly. I've used this product a few times, and it definitely adds volume to my hair without weighing it down or making it tacky. Coupled with my T3 dryer, it creates a fantastically smooth, shiny and bouncy hairstyle. In fact, after using the two together, Fit and Team both asked me if I'd done something new with my hair.

They weren't the only ones who noticed. Mr. Bella and I had a hot date at the art museum a few weeks ago, and he kept coming near my face. Nearer than usual, that is. At first I thought he was just being romantic and trying to sneak a smooch, but then I realized that he was only nuzzling my hair. Finally, I said, "Are you trying to sniff my hair?"

"Um, yes," he replied. "I can't help it. It just smells really good."

So there you have it. He's never done this before, so I credit Plump with turning him into a hair nuzzler. I can't blame him, really: This stuff leaves a light, pleasant scent that I can't quite place. It's not exactly citrusy, nor is it that weirdly fake-smelling fruity scent. It's just really fresh and clean. And apparently, it smells so wonderful that men will bury their noses in your hair in public.

My only hesitation with this product is its price. As much as I love the results, it's hard to part with $38 for any hair product. (That's why this is a 3.5-star, not a 4-star review.) If it's not within your budget, see if you can try out a friend's before taking the plunge-or better yet, save up for a T3 dryer, which I do think is worth the considerable expense. But if you're not sticking to a budget, don't think twice about it. And then, don't be surprised if you find a gentleman or two trying to smell your hair.

How-To: Dominique Swain's Cutesy Curls

Wednesday night at the 2008 ESPYs Giant Event, which was hosted by Eli Manning, actress Dominique Swain arrived with a clean and polished makeup look and flirty finger curls.

This hairdo is simple to achieve and adds a great deal of style, volume, and bounce to straight or naturally wavy hair.

STEP 1: Begin by towel-drying your hair and applying a palmful of mousse. Add a tiny drop of serum to the lengths and ends and spray a heat-protecting product all over. Next, brush out snarls using a wide-toothed comb.

STEP 2: Now you're ready to dry your hair. Set your blow dryer to a medium heat setting and, using a medium round brush, dry your hair in sections. Make sure to create tension at the roots with the brush to get rid of frizz, but when you get to the lengths, twirl the brush to create more volume and loose curls. Repeat until your hair is completely dry.
STEP 3: Using a two-inch barrel curling iron, take small sections of your hair and wind it away from your face. Hold it in place for seven to 10 seconds and then let the curls go. You'll want to leave some loose strands but will curl about 75 percent of your entire head.
STEP 4: As a finishing touch, mist hair with a light hold hairspray and give your hair a couple of cool shots from your hairdryer to set the look.

How-To: Liv Tyler's MTV Movie Awards Hairstyle

Liv Tyler looked gorgeous last night on the red carpet. Her skin was pale, yet slightly dewy and radiant. Her makeup was minimal, and her hair looked relaxed in loose, effortless sexy, beachy waves.

I love a girl who can look comfortable at a big-time Hollywood event, don't you? If any of you are interested in re-creating this hairstyle at home, all you'll need is a product that provides slight hold, a hair dryer, a curling iron, and a wide-toothed comb.

STEP 1: After you wash and condition your hair, gently towel dry and get rid of snarls and tangles by using a wide-toothed comb. Either get dressed or apply your makeup so that you hair has time to air-dry a little bit.
STEP 2: Apply a texturizing styling product such as Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray to your damp hair from roots to ends. Tip: Keep in mind that if your hair is slightly curly or thick, you'll want to apply product while your hair is still very wet, fresh from the shower. Also, if your hair is oily, only apply product to the lengths and ends, avoiding your roots.
STEP 3: Once you've applied the product, it's time to dry your hair. Set your hairdryer to the coolest, lowest setting and tousle hair until it's dry.
STEP 4: Since this is a sleeker version of the typical wavy, (slightly frizzy) beach hair, you'll want to add shine and refine the waves. Take a curling iron and use it like a flat-iron on the roots of your hair to make it smoother. As you get a third of the way down, curl hair around the barrel and let it sit for about 10 seconds. When you are finished with your entire head, shake out the curls, finger a few back into place and mist your entire head with a light-hold hairspray.
