I've always admired actress Kate Mara's soft, red locks. Lately, I've taken notice of her hairstyles on the red carpet, and she seems to favor the half-up, half-down hairdo the most. Happening Hair: The Modern Half Up, Half Down

Here is a happening do that is a modern take on the old half up, half down style. This look is great for those of you with long layers or one solid length - so basically anyone, but you have to have some substantial length to pull this off. This is also a quick style for women on the go. It keeps your hair out of your eyes, but won't take it completely off of your face. Ultimately, this is a super sexy hair style, hence it being modeled here on some of the world's sexiest women. You can wear this hair on the third day of a blowout too, just as the crown is getting greasy. This look is also a great way to add volume to a round shaped face.

Choose a shampoo and conditioner with volumizing agents in it. I happen to really love Alterna's Life Volumizing Shampoo,, $17.10, as well as their Life Volumizing Conditioner, $18.30.
Blow dry hair and set with rollers for additional volume. If you want stick straight hair like Heidi Klum's hair shown above, then before blow drying add a drop of Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm to add shine, protect hair from heat and control frizz. Wait 20 minutes in the rollers for hair to set.
Gently take out the rollers and begin to lightly backcomb the crown of your hair. Then, smooth it over with a soft brush, I like the Mason Pearson all boar bristle brush. Keep in mind, don't tease your hair too much. You don't want to have extreme lift at the crown, just a little is perfect.
Next, secure just the middle section of the crown with a skinny barrette or two bobby pins. Overlap the pins so they create an "X". Smooth the rest of your hair.
Lastly, spray your entire head with a fine mist of hairspray to keep all of your hard work in place! A new hairspray that I've just discovered is called Masterpiece Massive Shine Hairspray by Tigi, $15.75. Try it and let me know what you think!

The Damon clan is making their way around the world promoting Matt's new film, The Bourne Ultimatum. I love these stories about them sticking close together as a family-it's so sweet. And the proof is in the pudding, since Luciana hasn't missed one premiere.

While Matt claims that he's looking chubby these days, Luciana looks fantastic! First we saw her in London with her shiny, thick hair down; now we see her in Berlin with her hair styled half-up with a few face-framing tendrils. Which hair style do you like better?

Recreate LC's Double Braids With Tips From Her Stylist!

Just when we thought there couldn't possibly be any more ways to wear braids, who better than trend-setting Lauren Conrad to bring us back in? At the Hollywood Style Awards last night in LA, the former reality show star styled her signature waist-length extensions in not just one side-braid, but two intersecting plaits. Celebrity stylist Byron Williams of the Byron and Tracey Salon created the look for Lauren, using her multihued frock as inspiration.

"We wanted to get it as narrow as possible because we didn’t want to overwhelm the dress," Williams said. "It was side-parted, and we French braided both sides. It’s kind of half-up, half-down." Though she's not nominated, Mad Men star Christina Hendricks sure has a winning look tonight. Her beautiful red hair is styled in a very modern take on old Hollywood glamour. A beautiful half-up/half-down curly mane frames her equally luscious makeup. Her eyes sparkle because of the shimmery shadow and false lashes. Her lips are equally powerful with a popping sparkle. Even her earrings are perfection. I'm thinking this look is anything but Mad; do you agree?

Doing Drugstore: L'Oréal True Match Liquid Makeup

My Summery (fake) tan look can't last me past next month, so last week I started hunting for a paler shade that would give me good coverage with a reasonable SPF. I picked up this L'Oréal True Match Liquid Makeup ($11) at Walgreens, and I've been pleased so far. The texture is nice, the shade matching really is as good as Beyonce says, and it doesn't darken or yellow as it dries like most drugstore foundations. It also didn't break me out, which is rare.

It definitely stays on all day, and while I wish it had a higher SPF, the protection factor of 17 that it does have isn't half bad. I love my Prescriptives Custom Blend Foundation, but this one is pretty good for 11 bucks. The only place I give it a thumbs down is around my eyes. Within minutes of putting it on, I had crow's feet I'd never seen before, weird white lines under my eyes, and stripes on my lids. The stuff stays, but it settles really deep, so substitute some concealer on your more delicate, line-prone spots.
