It seems like every other celebrity has a scent these days, from Britney to Jessica to Halle. And though marketing agencies spend a lot of money promoting these products, the only really important thing is the scent. Team Bella tested out eight recently released celebrity scents, and we've got the lowdown on how each of them fared. Click through and see if you actually might want to smell like a star.

Halle Berry is the kind of woman you'd be jealous of, except she seems like a smart, down-to-earth lady who you could be friends with. She's one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood, she seems thrilled to be a mom to baby Nahla, and she's in love. It's safe to say that for her, life smells pretty sweet right now . . . which is just the kind of corny pun I'll use to tell you about Halle's new fragrance endeavor.

Launching next week, Halle by Halle Berry ($17–$35 for EDP) is a woody, oriental scent. The top notes are Sicilian bergamot, fig leaves, and pear blossom layered over heart notes of freesia petals, hibiscus flower, and ultra mimosa. A dry-down of sandalwood, driftwood, cashmere musk, olibanum sbsolute, and sensual amber add a more sensual tone. Along with eaux de parfum sizes, the scent will be available as a body lotion. If it succeeds in making me feel half as beautiful as Halle is, I'll consider it a huge success.

Halle Berry Is a Mixmaster of Fragrance

When I told you about the Halle Berry scent, you expected something sweet and floral. Well, today comes more news about the forthcoming fragrance, Halle by Halle Berry, due out in March. The scent, a woody oriental, and the bottle, meant to evoke the beach, were two years in the making. Berry tells WWD, "[Before my fragrance] I was mixing other brands that shall remain nameless to make my own scent with fig and mimosa,” she said. “With Halle, I added olibanum, which is an African root, which brings spice to the fragrance, and sandalwood, which smooths everything out and makes it yummy. It’s very sensual, very natural, very much reflective of the outdoors.”

Whether it's Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely or Paris Hilton's latest, celebrity fragrances are big business. generating a ton of cash both for the celebrity and the beauty company they work with. It's estimated that in 2006, worldwide sales of the top seven celebrity perfumes hit over $353 million dollars. Did you contribute to that number?

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez were arm in arm for a walk around Sunset Plaza in LA yesterday. They've been together all week with multiple day dates including a romantic lunch. Halle's weekend was all about Nahla, though, as they spent their sunny days on the beach in Malibu. Halle wore a bikini while Nahla played in the sand and checked out the tide pools. Filming for Halle's ensemble project New Year's Eve is still going on in NYC, though it looks like Halle already wrapped up her time on set when she was briefly in the Big Apple last month.

It was an evening dedicated to honoring the best of the fragrance world, and Halle walked away with the Celebrity Fragrance of the Year statue for her work building a mini-empire with her Halle by Halle Berry, Pure Orchid, and Reveal. Fergie had husband Josh Duhamel on hand to pick up her New Celebrity Fragrance of the Year prize due to her 2011 release Outspoken by Fergie. Her bright yellow BCBG Max Azria dress added a pop of color to the proceedings, though Halle's main man, Olivier Martinez, wasn't able to attend.

She - along with guests Mariska Hargitay, singer Estelle, and chef Marcus Samuelsson - showed their support at Mayor Michael Bloomberg's dinner benefiting the Family Justice Centers. Ron Perelman, the CEO of Revlon, was also in attendance alongside Halle, who is a spokesmodel for his brand. Halle made the trip east after spending the last few weeks in LA with Nahla. She's a pro at juggling her adorable daughter with work obligations, and that skill will be useful when she starts promoting Dark Tide ahead of its release later this year. Halle might be adding even more to her plate if rumors about her moving to the small screen prove true. Halle is linked to the TV project Higher Learning, a series likely bound for HBO or Showtime that would feature the actress playing a college professor.

They had to take a break from their sweet date nights last month when she spent a few weeks in NYC filming New Year's Eve. She briefly dropped out of the film since she ran into custody issues with her ex Gabriel Aubry, though she was able to work something out and snag another role in the project that also stars Zac Efron, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Ashton Kutcher. Today, however, she was back in court with Gabriel, and they apparently are near reaching a custody agreement for Nahla. Tomorrow may bring even more good news for Halle, who's a top contender for a spot on the People Most Beautiful People of 2011 list being announced in the morning.

In fact, Chuck star Zachary Levi told us he had to remind himself not to stare right at Halle when he took the stage to sing with Mandy Moore at the Academy Awards!
