Hard Candy May Branch Out Into Clothing

Many clothing lines eventually expand their brands into makeup and perfume, but it's unusual to see a makeup brand start designing clothes. That's what Walmart appears to be doing with Hard Candy, the beloved '90s makeup brand that it brought back to mass distribution in 2009. Walmart spokespeople won't confirm (or deny) the reports to WWD, but such an expansion would be a unique experiment in reverse engineering.

I think I'd be on board with a Benefit accessories line (charm bracelets and cute printed silk scarves, maybe?) or some hoodies and cute sneakers from DuWop, but that's because they already have cool packaging and a fashion-forward aesthetic. Hard Candy, on the other hand, was only recently resurrected, and it's not clear whether the brand image it used to have is even intact. Do you think this will work for them, and would you even like a fashion line made by your favorite makeup brand?

Check out the Hard Candy iPad Stylus ($35), part stylus, part pen, all class. One side of the stylus is made to use with your iPad or iPhone, the other side is a high-quality refillable pen. It's a hefty weight and finished in lustrous chrome.

I can't imagine needing a stylus to operate my iPhone, much less one that weighs as much as my handset. But it could be useful for certain iPad applications, especially if you use your iPad for professional use. What do you think?

Hard Candy Outs the Next iPod Touch, Coming With Camera

Just in time for the Apple event tomorrow, Hard Candy announced that it is ready to cover your new "iTouch 4G" (the new iPod Touch?) with a new case called the Street Skin ($30).

The cases, which are made with a rubberized outer shell in three colors, come with an opening for a rear-facing camera. There are no details or specs about the fourth-generation iPod itself in Hard Candy's press release (like if there's an accompanying forward-facing camera as well), but it seems the company is pretty confident that the latest camera-enabled iPod Touch will make an appearance at tomorrow's press conference. The cases will be ready to ship on Sept. 15.

Hard Candy: Do You Suck or Chew?

Macworld 2010: Hard Candy iPad Cases

Will You Go See Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour?

From dancing provocatively with Justin Timberlake to making out with a female backup dancer on stage, Madonna's private promo shows for Hard Candy are already making headlines. She seems intent on showing us that although 50 might be around the corner, she's nowhere near settling down. Yesterday she announced that her new world tour, "Sticky and Sweet," will kick off August 23 in Cardiff, Wales. We all know Madonna puts on some of the best live shows in the world - just ask Katie Sugar - so no doubt she's pulling out all the stops to do it again. So tell us, will you go see Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour?
