Jennifer Hudson has had a tragic year in her personal life, so it's wonderful to see her having such success in her professional endeavors. Up for several Grammys tonight, the singer chooses eye makeup to complement her black, white, and gray dress. Notice how her eye shadows and eye liner shades get deeper as they near the outer corners. Glossy lips and a sleek updo finish off her classic look with a modern twist. What's your opinion?

How-To: Jennifer Hudson's Superb Super Bowl Makeup

I'm not so into football, but I still sat down with some pals to tune into the Super Bowl last night. I'll admit to you - don't tell Mr. Bella! - that I was more excited to see Jennifer Hudson sing the national anthem than anything else. Granted, she has a phenomenal voice, but I could barely get past how wonderful she looked on stage before the big game. With pulled-back hair and oversize hoop earrings, I thought this overall look was dramatically divine.

Since her makeup was my favorite part, I could barely wait for the game to end to test it out. Check out my suggestions when you read more.

Start by applying a creamy foundation (like MAC Select Moistureblend) with a sponge or synthetic brush.
Outline the top and bottom lash lines by picking a liquid liner that allows a very thin line, such as Vincent Longo Vibrant Eye in Nerino.
Choose shadows in complementary hues, both light and darker. Since I used three shades for my look, the NP Set Eye Palette in Atlanta Plum works wonderfully.
Start with the lightest shade and sweep from the base of the eyelid to the browbone. After that, take a darker color and blend in the crease of each eye.
Next, use the darkest color to make a horizontal "V" shape on the outer and inner thirds of your eyelid. (Make sure to blend the colors well.)
Smudge shadow into the bottom lash line, if desired. Apply your favorite lengthening mascara, like L'Oreal Lash Out.
Line lips with a pencil slightly darker than the lipstick you'll use. For example, the Too Faced Luster Liner in Caspian would work well before before filling in with the glossy LipFusion in Beauty, which offers a touch of color along with re-plumping formula.
Finally, a light touch of blush (Black Radiance in Soft Honey) can bring definition to cheekbones.
You can't tell here, but I noticed Jennifer also wore black nail polish as she held onto the microphone last night - I'm digging OPI's nail lacquer in Black Onyx to finish out this look.

Love It or Hate It? Jennifer Hudson's Blunt Bob

Believe it or not, Jennifer Hudson didn't pull out her her signature pose at the BET Awards. Instead, she smiled pretty while showing off this angled bob. I like the cut, but it's probably going to look even better when it grows out an inch or two. Do you like this blunt bob on her, or do you prefer a softer look?

Jennifer Hudson sure does look like a golden girl at the MTV Movie Awards - in all the right ways. As usual, her skin looks enviably flawless, and this piecey bob feels just right for MTV. I'm loving the metallic rose and gold shadows that brighten up her eye area. It's enough to make up for her cheesy signature pose, which - if you're wondering - she did indeed do. Again. What do you think about this look?

Do You Have a Go-To Picture Pose?

Behold, the many faces of Jennifer Hudson! At almost every event she attends, she can be found blowing kisses at photographers. It's safe to say that she has a signature pose, but is it terrible of me to think that it's incredibly cheesy?

With that said, I do a few things before my photograph is taken. I throw my shoulders back, open my eyes a little wider, and turn my face slightly to the more flattering side. Otherwise, I wind up looking stone-faced and sleepy-eyed. (A bit like Mount Rushmore, actually.) But some friends, like Geek, never pose and always look great in photos. What about you? (And am I alone in wanting to give Jen's pose the kiss-off?)

Love It Or Hate It? Jennifer Hudson Bobs Her Hair

I like to imagine that Jennifer Hudson has been waiting, juuuuust waiting, for Rihanna to grow out her hair so that she could usurp the bob for herself. Done and done.

The length looks good on Jennifer, but the blunt-cut bangs are a little too Tootie on her. Making them more piecey would feel fresher, less rigid, and youthful-all of which would be a better fit, no?

Imari Seduction Is As Dreamy As Its Spokesperson

We first heard buzz about the Jennifer Hudson fragrance, Imari Seduction, back in March and now it's almost here! Jennifer was asked by Avon to be the spokesperson for this new scent soon after her Oscar win for Dreamgirls.

As harsh as this may sound, I guess her 15 minutes of fame is lasting a lot longer than predicted. This girl's got star quality written all over her. Seems to me like she's gone from 0 to 60 in no time!

I haven't sampled the fragrance yet, but from what I gather, it's a hearty mix of flowers and woods with a little touch of sweetness in the top notes. It has notes of crimson rose, purple orchid, patchouli, wild berries, plum, sandalwood, amber, musk and vanilla bean. Get excited, the launch is set for August-only a couple of days away. Imari Seduction will be available in a 1.7 oz bottle for $22.50.
