Do You Like Jessica's New Red Locks?

Back in July, Jessica Alba lightened up her hair from brown with caramel-toned highlights to a somewhat flat blond shade that most of you weren't loving. We've seen the actress go back and forth with various shades of blond and brown before, but to my recollection, we've never seen her go red. Yesterday, after a trip to the salon, Jessica debuted her new red locks. What do you think about the switch? Is it a good one, or do you prefer her with another shade?

Jessica Alba has been out and about a lot more since Fashion Week, and now that she's back to blond hair, she's going for a whole bunch of new looks. A little while back at a Clinton Foundation gala, she wore a pretty, glossed-up coral to complement her dress, but at the Narciso Rodriguez show last week, she was all austerity in a barely there nude lip. And last night, at a Taia Peace Foundation fundraiser, she had a perfectly pouted berry-stained lip. They're all pretty looks, but which one do you think is the most flattering on her?

Do You Like Jessica Alba Better as a Brunette or Blonde?

In addition to many variations of a braid (seen here and here), Jessica Alba seems to favor shades of brown for her hair. From light to dark, she's rarely seen as blond as she was this week. She covered all bases, with even her brows sporting a similar shade, but I'm not sure it's the most flattering hue she could possibly do. In your opinion, which suits her better?

With what appears to be almost a woven hairstyle, Jessica adds nice texture to her updo and sure shows off those highlights in the process. She also has lashes that stand out amidst minimal shadow, liner up top, and a bit of brightener in the inner corner of her eyes.

But what really lights up her look is that big smile and hot pink lips. They're well-defined with nary a smudge on her teeth, and I'm loving the color contrast with the green earrings. Do you think she stands out or is her style falling short?

Which Hair Looks Best on Jessica Alba?

Over the weekend, the stars were out at the GLAAD Media Awards in LA. Jessica Alba, who presented at the event, showed up sporting lighter, caramel-toned highlights. She's been playing around with the length and color of her hair the past few years, and has most recently added soft, split bangs to the mix. What do you think about her new hair color? Is this the shade she should keep, or do you prefer Jessica with another hair hue?

How-To: Jessica Alba's Side-Swept Curls

At last night's American Museum of Natural History dance in New York, Jessica Alba wore a curled updo that works so well for her. What I like most about this look is that it's not too stiff, serious, or prom-like. Plus, the side-swept style is so fresh and modern.

Lightly squeeze water out of the hair with a towel to remove excess moisturizer. Spritz hair with a curl-enhancing gel or cream, like Garnier Curl Shaping Spray Gel ($3), which also has built-in heat protectors.
Once the hair is about 80 percent dry, use a paddle brush or styling brush to tame frizzy hair and flyaways until completely dry.
Next, use a curling iron with a one-inch base or higher, and curl your entire head of hair. Tip #1: Clip up the top layers and curl the bottom layers of your hair first, working up towards the top. Tip #2: To create variety and differently sized curls, use another curling iron with a larger or smaller base, alternating sizes as you move along the head.
Then, pull back your hair into a lower side-swept ponytail. Now, here's the fun stuff. Take individual pieces of curled hair and pin near the base of the ponytail. Take some large strands and some small strands to create a visually interesting updo. You can also twist individual strands or weave them through previously pinned pieces to "mess up" the look.
Spray with a hairspray that provides hold without the crunch, like Sally Hershberger Supreme Head Brilliant Hairspray ($12.50), and you're good to go.

2009 Independent Spirit Awards: Jessica Alba

Although most of you preferred Jessica's hair long and wavy, I think she looks no less lovely with this shorter look. With bangs swept off to either side, her locks are softly curled to skim her shoulders.

Jessica plays up her natural beauty with natural makeup. Other than liner, light lavender eyeshadow (which matches her dress), and glossy lips, she looks afternoon-appropriate with little makeup. Do you like her casually chic face or would you rather she go glam?

Love It or Hate It? Jessica Alba Amplifies the Glamour

Looks like motherhood is treating Jessica Alba very well. Although we've seen Jessica wear dramatic makeup before, this is the first time in a while that she's looked so Sophia Loren-style glamorous. Guess when you have a front-row seat to the Narciso Rodriguez show and are next to other famous ladies, you go all-out. Do you like this change of pace for Jessica, or do you prefer her more low-key looks instead?
