Love It or Hate It? Jessica Simpson's New Fancy Love Ad

We've all had our ups and downs in the love department. Unfortunately, so has Jessica Simpson, who recently split with boyfriend Tony Romo on the night before her 29th birthday earlier this month.

But it's back to business for Jess with her latest fragrance, Fancy Love. "Romance has never been more important to me, so I wanted to celebrate that special feeling with this new fragrance," Jessica said in a June press release.

With the successful launch of Fancy last year, do you think Fancy Love will match up? Jessica Simpson's Beauty Show Is a Go

As previously rumored, Jessica Simpson is indeed jumping back into the reality-TV pool. Set to air on VH1 next year, The Price of Beauty will follow Jess as she travels the world to examine beauty standards and treatments. "I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful," Jessica said in a press release. "But I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect. I am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful."

Before the show was officially confirmed, I came up with five ways it could be great. Come next year, we'll all find out if it will be. Think you'll tune in?

Five Reasons Jessica Simpson's Beauty Show Might Be Awesome

This week, we learned that Jessica Simpson is planning a new reality show. With a working title of The Price of Beauty, the show will follow Jess around the world as she explores body image and conceptions of beauty. Could it be that after the Mom Jeans debacle, she has body image on the brain? And could it be that TPOB will turn out to be must-see TV? For five ways this show could turn out to be amazing, read more.

There's a high likelihood of priceless quotes
Jessica probably will never have another Chicken of the Sea moment, but let's hope for some good "platymapus"-style moments. Let's face it, the girl can be funny - especially because she knows how to laugh at herself.

. . . but Jess is older and wiser, too
Six years have passed since she did Newlyweds, and she's matured a lot. If she can explore different cultures' beauty ideals with a curious mind, this show might have some substance along with the silliness.

She's gonna be a Gonzo girl
Reports say that Jessica will subject herself to "shocking" beauty treatments. She's already admitted to having had Restylane injections, so can we expect more needles, prodding, and poking? Witnessing a bird poop facial could be funny, but she has the opportunity to show the not-so-pretty side of primping, too. Either way, it should provide some compelling footage.

She's got a few things to say
Frankly, it seems like Jessica is tired of people discussing her weight. (Who wouldn't be?) After being criticized for being "fat" - which is a stretch, and even if she were fat, so what? - she's probably ready to take on our culture's obsession with thinness. If she challenges our often-narrow vision of what it means to be beautiful, that could be powerful television.

Role model, hello!
Lots of girls look up to Jessica, and if she's able to present a diverse view of what it means to be beautiful, they could wind up feeling good about not looking "perfect." And that could be the show's biggest success of all.

Over the past few days, it's been chunky side braids aplenty. While various types of braids have been hot for years now, check out how these three women put their own twist on this trend below. Jessica Simpson stepped out for Easter dinner with the family at first wearing this classic French braid, which mysteriously disappeared before she left the restaurant. Drew Barrymore paired her braid with a retro twist and some serious red lipstick while promoting her new film on Live With Regis and Kelly. As for Nicole Richie, she chose a casual wraparound braid with long, heavy bangs when she was out and about in LA. So, tell me. When it comes to these three takes on the braid to the side, which one is tops in your book?

Fragrance Review: Jessica Simpson Fancy

From country singer to pop star to hair extension creator, this multi-talented lady has done it all. Her latest venture takes her into the fragrance world. When I first heard of the aromas featured in Jessica Simpson's perfume, Fancy ($49-$59), I suddenly had the urge to make a sundae. Apricot, pear, toasted almonds, caramel? Yep, my teeth started aching just thinking about it.

The name of the perfume didn't raise my hopes; when something's described as "fancy," that usually means it's just the opposite. But upon experiencing my first whiff of the scent, I was pleasantly surprised. The aroma isn't as sticky-sweet as I envisioned - it's more sophisticated than the overly literal smells of Jess's earlier Dessert line. I loved Fancy's lightness of apricot and pear notes; and the vanilla helped to add a subtle balance to the blend. It's warm and inviting, and considering how men seem to go bananas for vanilla, it's a good first-date fragrance.

Although I'm impressed by the thought behind the blend, the floral notes - which include jasmine and gardenia - are just a little too, well, fancy for me. I like a hint of dirtiness in my fragrance, but if you love sweet, warm blends, Jessica's perfume is worth a sniff. Even though it's too vanilla for me (take that either way you like) it's pleasant and long-lasting, and it's bound to be a guilty pleasure of anyone who's normally opposed to the idea of celebrity fragrance in general.
