Last night's theme at the 2009 Costume Institute Gala was "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion," an exploration of how models have inspired and projected fashions throughout recent years. Of course, my coverage of this event would not be complete without a gallery of models who walked the red carpet. (Here's why some big names didn't show up). Love It or Hate It? Jessica Stam's Costume Institute Gala Look

Model Jessica Stam is stunning even without makeup - and lucky for us, she's happy to share her beauty secrets. But this interpretation of a smoky eye just doesn't do much for her, I'm afraid. A coppery shadow (like Michelle Trachtenberg's) would have made those blue eyes pop without looking so muddy. Love the full brows, though - as well as her milky skin. Your thoughts?

Love it or Hate It? White Winged Eyeliner at BCBG

On Wednesday afternoon, the highly anticipated BCBG Spring 2008 show took center stage in the Bryant Park tents. FabSugar seemed to be smitten by the clothing, but I'm not entirely sold on the makeup choice to match. Here are a couple of pictures of the pretty Jessica Stam from before and during the show. Love It or Hate It? Dior's Hair Look for Fall

Even though I can't imagine ever having the occasion to cut my hair in such a geometrical shape, I like Dior's fall ad campaign because it's so bold. Jessica Stam is certainly the model to pull off this high-fashion hairstyle. What do you think of it?

Model of the Week: Jessica Stam

Welcome to our very first installment of Model of the Week. I've written a five question interview that I have conducted with several models to share with you. The questions are both fun and beauty-related and will always stay the same. I can't wait to hear what you think of this new feature!

Here's a little history on the gorgeous Jessica Stam. She was born in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada on April 23rd, 1983 and was discovered in a coffee shop on her way home from an amusement park.

You may recognize her from her countless magazine spreads, appearances in many fashion shows and ads for Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Vera Wang, Atsuro Tayama, Cerruti Jeans, Valentino, Miu Miu, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Holt Renfrew and BCBG. Did you know that Marc Jacobs's highly coveted Stam Bag was inspired by her? She has just signed on to be the face of Armani and Bulgari.

Known for her amazing cat-like blue eyes and long lashes, Jessica also happens to be super sweet, approachable and down-to-earth.

BELLA: What is your secret to beautiful skin and hair?
JS: Don't over-wash your face and don't wash your hair too often.

BELLA: What is the one product that you can't live without?
JS: Aquafor. I put on my lips and anywhere that looks or feels dry on my body.

BELLA: What is your guilty pleasure?
JS: Shoes. I would say I have an equal collection of heels and flats, I love shoes!

BELLA: What is your favorite drugstore product?
JS: Leonor Greyl haircare products. You can get them at any high-end pharmacy and they are amazing.

BELLA: Happiness is...
JS: Eight hours of sleep and hot coffee.

Does "Supermodel" Mean Anything Anymore?

We all know the supermodels by their first names: Naomi. Linda. Christy. Heidi. Gisele. Whitney.

Wait, Whitney? Yep, Whitney Thompson - as in the winner of America's Next Top Model. She's launching her own line of handmade jewelry and candles, calling it Supermodel. "I've tried to make my collection real," she told First Coast News. "It's stuff that I love and I would wear and I'm a supermodel so I was thinking, 'Hey! Supermodel.'"

While I love Top Model and hope that Whitney's endeavor goes well, none of the show's winners are exactly household names in the way that Cindy Crawford is. Then again, neither are the most popular runway models - just try asking a random dude who Jessica Stam or Raquel Zimmerman are. So maybe Claudia Schiffer is right when she says that the age of the supermodel is long over. If it is, do you think it matters?

Double Your Fun: Two New "Same Name Twice" Fragrances

These days, apparently twice is very nice indeed, because WWD is reporting that in August, both Nina Ricci and Juicy Couture will launch fragrances with charmingly repetitive names. The scents, Ricci Ricci ($58) and Couture Couture ($85), are both a little higher end than other offerings from the houses but geared toward young women. While they're both florals with hints of woodiness, their topnotes are very different. Ricci Ricci starts with lively rhubarb and bergamot, followed by four o'clock flowers and a whole bouquet of roses, then finishes with sandalwood and patchouli, while Couture Couture is all citrusy topnotes with a jasmine honeysuckle body and an amber drydown. I'll be excited to try both, but I love Jessica Stam's little devil horns in the Ricci Ricci ads. Hopefully the scent will be just as naughty and charming as the campaign suggests.

It's Cool-Girl Chic at Charlotte Ronson

This morning's Charlotte Ronson show was packed to full capacity. Did the clothes draw the crowds? Maybe - but the chances of seeing Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson might have helped, too. Even though Jessica Stam and Jessica Szohr had a hard time backstage, Linds and Samantha swooped in and enjoyed a front-row vantage point.

Going along with Ronson's downtown-girl style, the hair and makeup were the farthest thing from fussy. Models clomped down the runway with mussed-up ponytails pulled back loosely, with flyaways adding an insouciant touch to the style. A bit of bronzer brightened up an otherwise nude complexion, but if you really want the Ronson face, a sheer fruit-punch gloss on your lips will give you something to smile about. It's Sexy Sixties Style at Diane von Furstenberg

Think runway makeup is all about expensive brands? Think again. At the Diane von Furstenberg show, lead makeup artist Gucci Westman used Revlon on top models like Jessica Stam and Coco Rocha. Westman has recently been named Global Artistic Director for the brand, and I've gotta say, she's already making me think differently about drugstore makeup.

Case in point: this '60s-inspired Veruschka-on-a-safari look. Models wore khaki tones punched up with a shot of bold color - in this case, a flash of yellow on shimmering black eyes. (For day-to-day wear, leave the yellow aside and instead use matte eye shadow; Westman used Revlon matte eye shadow in Rich Sable, Peach Sorbet, and Vintage Lace.) The mod lip color isn't lipstick; it's the Peach Sorbet eye shadow mixed with white Matte Lux eyeliner.

So will we see a Gucci Westman makeup collection from Revlon anytime soon? "Eventually," Westman said, adding that she's already giving input on products being made now. "Everybody is excited to bring back that iconic woman - like the Charlie girl, but a modern take on that." For now, though, I'm off to figure out how to make this whole eye-products-on-the-lips thing work off the runway.
