How-To: Wearing Makeup For Differently Hued Eyes

The other day I was chatting with a friend, and I noticed that one of her eyes was a bright bluish-green and the other was a bright greenish-blue - a subtle but noticeable difference. So cool. Having two completely different eye colors is called complete heterochromia, and there are other variations, such as sectoral heterochromia, where the iris may be one color with distinctive hues within. Check out some of my tips below for accentuating different colored eyes, along with some pictures of stars who have multihued eyes after the jump.

Control the intensity: You can create a cohesive look with eye shadow palettes in the same color families, but with varying degrees of lightness and darkness to create a balanced effect. The key is to blend and control the intensity, focusing on a cohesive color palette, as opposed to trying to apply makeup to each eye in completely different colors. Go bright: Don't be afraid to experiment. Check out Kate Bosworth's choice of bold green in the gallery below, where the eye shadow is the star of her daring look.
Get heavy handed: Doing a smoky eye like Mila Kunis (see below) puts the emphasis on her stunning eyes, not away from them.
Colored contacts: A slightly obvious choice, but a perfect solution for times when you might want to experiment with matching peepers.
Don't hide it: Keep in mind that there is no right or wrong makeup when it comes to heterochromia. In actuality, you probably don't have to adjust much, if anything at all. It's such a rare and stunning feature to have; who'd ever want to really hide it?

Hmm. Looks like Kate Bosworth was inspired by the Proenza Schouler runway look. Yes, the teal eye shadow is out of the ordinary, but it's so fashion-forward that I think she pulls it off! Definition: The Bob

Originating in the 1920s, the bob is a short, blunt, and classic hairstyle in which the weight of the hair falls between the ears and chin. It can be styled with or without bangs and in various lengths, but a proper bob never grows past the shoulders.

It seems that Kate Bosworth may have used old Hollywood as her inspiration - instead of the models as her muse - for her look tonight. She was the spitting image of Veronica Lake. Her long, open curls called to mind the actress of the '40s, and her makeup was just as stunning (though not as reminiscent since Lake's films were in black-and-white). What do you think of Miss Bosworth's glamorous look? Do you like that she tried something more retro, or would you have preferred a more current look like Rihanna?

Beauty Byte: Revlon Scoops Up Elle Macpherson

Here's a little beauty news for today: Aussie supermodel Elle Macpherson will be the next global brand ambassador (a.k.a. spokeswoman) of Revlon. She'll be featured in advertising campaigns and will take part in Revlon-sponsored philanthropic women’s health events.

Elle will join the ranks of other famous Revlon faces, including Halle Berry, Jessica Alba and Kate Bosworth.

It seems like Elle is excited to be part of the company, at least in the press-release quote. To read what she has to say about her new gig, read more.

Trend Alert: Natural Makeup and Glowing Skin

Summertime means increased humidity and low-maintenance makeup. So it's no surprise that so many celebrities were stepping out this week wearing very natural, dewy looks. First, there was Jessica Biel at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, then Kate Bosworth glowed at the Whitney art benefit, and Helena Christensen showed up at Cartier's LoveCharity event looking shiny and new.

It's easy to get the look using multi-purpose face highlighters. Here are a couple of my favorite products to help create a dewy glow.

Haircuts To Flatter Your Face Shape: Part II, Round Faces

You may covet your favorite celeb's hairstyle, but if the 'do doesn't fit your face shape, you're likely to be disappointed. Hence, FABSUGAR's four-part series on the haircuts that best flatter your face. Welcome back for our second installment: round faces. (To read last week's advice on heart-shaped faces, click here.)

If you have a full, round face, you share your facial structure with Gwyneth Paltrow, Oprah Winfrey, Kate Bosworth, Cameron Diaz, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The shape is characterized by a round chin and lack of sharp angles. Round faces tend to be wider at the cheeks, with softer shaping along the jawline and forehead. Round faces need balance, which can be achieved with hairstyles that make the face appear longer.

The best styles for your face shape are ones that drape below your jawline and add a little volume on top of the head, like Gwyneth's above. For more coifs most likely to complement your face, read more

Soft, long layers are also pretty because they the appearance of a longer and slimmer face. The layers also reduce bulk and heaviness from the sides.

Bangs are flattering, but keep them long or side-swept. Go for wispy and tapered ends to de-emphasize the roundness of your face.

Try and stay away from blunt cuts if you have short hair. These only emphasize your round face.
