Would You Mistake Katherine Heigl For Ashley Judd?

Earlier today on Regis and Kelly, Katherine Heigl not only discussed her role in The Ugly Truth as part of her promotional rounds, but she also talked about brunette hairstyle, which she called a spontaneous decision. While most of you prefer her as a blonde, the actress, whose own mother didn't even recognize her in this light-chestnut shade, seems to be embracing her darker 'do.

"Most people just don't recognize me, which is really disconcerting, or kind of great," she added. Initially, Katherine was hesitant about going brown for fear of being confused with another brunette actress. "I had been brunette five or six years ago, and I used to get Ashley Judd a lot," she said. What do you think about the comparison? Do you see the resemblance, or is it not even close?

It's rare to see Katherine Heigl stray from her platinum-blond locks, although she went dark blond for her role in 27 Dresses. At last night's premiere of The Ugly Truth, Katherine gave us a surprise, debuting a new brunette shade with subdued red undertones. What do you think of her new look? Trend Alert: Side-Swept Updos

You weren't so fond of Katherine Heigl's side-swept curls a few weeks ago, but lately I've seen side-swept hair everywhere. Side ponytails remain to be a trend, but why not jazz it up a bit? Sweeping the hair to the side or front in an updo creates a modern style that's interesting and elegant.

To get this look, curl all of your hair with a curling iron or hot rollers first. Use a medium-strength texturizing gel, such as Frederic Fekkai's Coiff Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel ($23), for hold without the crunch. For a straight and sleek option, use a smoothing cream like Bumble and bumble's Styling Lotion $(23). Pin back to the side and set with a light spray such as Ted Gibson Beautiful Hold Hairspray ($28). For a healthy shine, complete either look with Ojon's Shine & Protect Glossing Mist ($28).

Get Adventurous With Your Engagement Party Makeup

Throughout the duration of your wedding-planning period, you are likely going to be taking more pictures of you and your hubby-to-be than you ever thought imaginable. Using events such as your engagement party, bridal shower, and even your bachelorette party are great opportunities to test out potential wedding makeup looks to see which one you like the best in photographs.

Take Kate Moss for example. Rumor has it that she's planning a gypsy-themed engagement party to fiancé Jamie Hince. A costume party isn't exactly what I meant, but hey, why not. It just goes to show that not all brides go for a traditional princess look.

Groovy Hippy Party : Take a natural approach to makeup by using a tinted moisturizer, a lip and cheek stain, some mascara, and a tiny hint of highlighter on your cheeks and to the tip if your nose.
Hawaiian Luau : Test out different self-tanners until you find just the right one. Then add a few lime green, pink, or brown shimmery shadows, a cream blush and a bright lip color to match the flower in your hair.
Old Hollywood: Go for dramatic red lips, pale skin, and false lashes. And don't forget your makeup must have: a stenciled faux beauty mark!

Katherine Heigl's Oscars Look: Love It or Hate It?

Katherine Heigl is still rocking the Marilyn Monroe hair, and if I was on the fence before, I've warmed up to it a bit - although I do think it ages her a bit. I think the bigger issue here is the exact color match of her lipstick to her dress. It's too literal in my book. I do like the white eyeliner that really brightens her eyes. What about you? Think this is a hit or a miss?

Katherine Heigl showed off a new hairstyle in Madrid today and if she's trying to look like a Hollywood legend, this cut and color can't hurt. It's such a Marilyn Monroe look,
don't you think? I'm loving the lip gloss on her, but I go back and forth on her hair. Part of me loves the mussed-up glamour of it, but can you imagine this hairstyle with a T-shirt and jeans? Let me know what you think in the comments - because I know a lot of you will have strong opinions!
