How Do You Prefer Keira Knightley's Bangs?

Actress Keira Knightley has been the face of Chanel for several years, so it's no surprise that she attended the house's haute couture show. Her Jane Birkin-style bangs and sultry makeup did not disappoint. To contrast with her traditional clothing and play up her blunt fringe, makeup artist Kay Montano focused on Keira's eyes for a smoky effect. (Try layering the chocolate plum shade from Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes over Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Ambre for the same effect.) How-to: Keira Knightley's Eyes at The Duchess Premiere

At the premiere of The Duchess in London, Keira Knightley wore bronzy eye shadow and an inky lined eye. This is not a big departure from the makeup she wore to the Pirates 2 premiere in 2006, so this is clearly a look she's fond of. Want to get it? Find out how when you read more.

Brush foundation on clean skin to get an even, matte finish.
Use a brow gel and pencil, if necessary, to tame eyebrows and create a strong shape.
Take a non-shimmery bronzer and brush it over the eyelids, extending further toward the outer corners. Run a smaller brush along the bottom center of the eye.
With a black pencil, line the top and bottom eyelids all the way around.
Curl lashes and use a black mascara with a small-ish wand, like Max Factor Volume Couture Mascara ($6.99).
Brush the same bronzer lightly across your cheeks.
Use a rose-colored neutral lipstick, like the universally flattering NARS Dolce Vita ($24).

September is the biggest month for fashion magazines, and that's when they typically haul out the famous faces and hope for big ad sales. This time around, Vogue features Keira Knightley. I've always said it must be impossible to make Keira look anything but jaw-dropping gorgeous, but honestly, this matted hairstyle isn't my favorite. Are you wishing the styling team had gone with something a little more "done," or do you like this change of pace?

If Keira Knightley smiled once during last night's Los Angeles premiere of Atonement, it wasn't while cameras were flashing. Then again, maybe she's just playing the role of a serious actress.

Even without a smile, though, she looks pretty. I love the way the light is reflected on her complexion, and her lips look natural and pillowy. The big change for Keira, though, is the blunt-cut bangs. While she has her softly curled hair pulled back right now, a quick snip could give her a bob just like Katie Holmes. Keira Opens Up About The Pressure To Look Good

The new issue of Allure features Keira Knightley, who's promoting Silk. "I have self-esteem problems," she told the magazine. Surprise, surprise, they blossomed when she went to Hollywood. She said of her first visit to Los Angeles:

"It is frightening, especially when you're 17, and you want to be the same as everyone else-you want to fit in. And if you're fitting in in a place like L.A., then it is a very particular look. I was feeling there was something very wrong with me."

It gets worse. A brunette in a sea of blondes, she went to a dermatologist to fix her acne, and then the doc asked her if she'd broken her nose. When she said no, he replied, "Well, we can fix it." This sent her to the mirror, where she spent "hours and hours" staring at her nose to find its flaws.

I hardly think any of us would see Keira on the street and think, "Yikes, that girl's got a nose like Karl Malden. She'd better fix that." And if Keira feels like she can't live up to the Hollywood beauty ideal, is it any surprise that so many of us feel we can't do it, either? I'm curious to know what you think of Keira's remarks. Do you ever feel this way, too?

This month, Chanel is launching a huge ad blitz to promote this sophisticated-but-youthful fragrance, which debuted in 2001. Part of the campaign features a short film starring Keira, and I've got an excerpt for you. There's plenty of footage here for beauty junkies, along with a closeup of KK's black manicure. I have to say, after watching this, I'm daydreaming of a fabulous life in Paris...

Keira Knightley's New Chanel Ads... and Movie

I just found some new Chanel ads starring Keira Knightley, and if she isn't the perfect modern-day face of Chanel, I don't know who would do it better!

I know that you're split on whether she's a more fitting model for Coco Mademoiselle than Kate Moss was, but you've got to admit, the girl looks amazing here. I love the soft pink lip, which makes her look very appropriate for this legendary design house, n'est-ce pas?

Keira Knightley will star as Coco Mademoiselle in a new PR movie for the Chanel perfume. The British actress, dressed in a red chiffon dress by Karl Lagerfeld, will play a mysterious star in a glamorous movie directed by Joe Wright.

The "PR movie" (read: advertisement that will probably be beautiful nonetheless) is due in September. What do you think of Keira here-is it hats off to her? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
