Did/Do You Have Braces?

Back in my early high school years, I rocked a mouthful of metal. In fact, my mom even got her bottom teeth realigned right along with me. Fortunately, my classmates didn't hassle me, calling out oh-so-original names like brace-face, railroad tracks, or tin-teeth. Kids can be so cruel.

I do wonder, however: how I did not get teased for sporting my school colors on the bands that lined each bracket? I cringe to think of how dorky that was. What about you? Did you have braces in the past, or are you perhaps wearing them now?

Bella Brand: Armour Beauty

In addition to model, writer, performer, and former member of all-female band The Lunachicks, Theo Kogan can now add "beauty entrepreneur" to her resume (assuming that total rock stars have resumes). Kogan teamed up with another woman of many trades, makeup artist/ accessory designer Allison Burns, to launch Armour Beauty, a 14-piece collection of lip glosses that include natural ingredients like avocado oil and mango butter.

"The thing that's been missing are great colors that are moisturizing and protecting and stay on," she says. "Other natural [beauty] products fall off your face, and the colors are too hippie. We also felt like there was not a line that could sit next to Chanel and Givenchy but had a rock persona."

To find out how she wears her black gloss, read more.

Lately, Kogan has been wearing Armour's black gloss, Femme Fatale, with a drop of Edie, a beige, in the middle of her lower lip. Seven of the shades are matte or opaque, while the other seven have shimmer (she promises "they're not sandy").

Aside from touring the world and often doing her stage makeup herself, Kogan's expertise comes from a lifelong obsession with beauty. "My friend got me this makeup at a 99 cent store, like out of a kit for kids, and it's the sickest bubble gum pink ever. It's really sticky so it wears really well. If you really love makeup, you're always looking for stuff." You heard her - go look.

Tom Challenges You to Give Him a Try

Back in my rock-and-roll days, there was an unspoken rule among the most serious punks: If you were going to groom yourself, the only acceptable brand was Tom's Of Maine. The naturally based, animal-friendly, vegan brand was pretty much the only toothpaste that the hardcore kids would use, but whaddya know, they always cleaned up pretty well. While my rocker-girl days may have dwindled (or not), I still use Tom's lavender deodorant faithfully.

Now, you can join me in my natural-armpitted glory - and you don't have to worry about losing any money in doing so. Through Tom's Natural Challenge, you can try Tom's of Maine, and if you don't love it, you'll get your money back. Look for a special display (there's also a $1 off coupon), give the product a whirl, and one of two things will happen: You'll either find a vegan-and-green grooming goody to love, or you'll get your money back by sending it to Tom's. Not a bad deal!

Beauty Byte: Vivienne Westwood Rocks Fragrance

With her London punk legacy, Vivienne Westwood is no stranger to awesomeness. So it's fitting that the fashion designer's new fragrance is called Let It Rock. According to Cosmetics International (via Now Smell This), the scent, which debuted yesterday in London, is named for the boutique Westwood opened in 1971. The fragrance blend was also inspired by the '70s, using prevalent vintage scents like patchouli and sandalwood. Here's Westwood elaborating on her inspiration, from Cosmetics International:

“It’s the best name for a fragrance right now. People are interested in the idea of glamour. I thought back to the 1970s when I opened the shop. We felt heroic and tough. Young kids were revolting against the older generation, and that’s what rock and roll is all about.”

Manufactured by Coty, Let It Rock also uses top notes of bergamot and freesia and comes in a bottle adorned with the designer's signature orb and red-lipstick logo. It will go on sale in the UK in August then roll out to the rest of Europe later. No word on when it will be available in the States, but I would love to get my hands on this punk-inspired perfume.

Do You Think Paris Will Keep Her Hair Short?

(She was also spotted with a not-as-cute Bob, as in Bob Ritchie, as in Kid Rock, but that's another story.) I've always thought Paris looked good with shorter hair, but somehow I suspect it won't be long until we see her hair long again. What do you think? Will the short hair last?
Coddle Your 'Do For Just One More Day

Who do you think you're kidding when asked about the ol' powder in the hair trick? We are all guilty of the one, two, three - and yeah, I'll even say it - four-day stretch of not washing our hair after we get a wicked blowout. And you know the only thing stopping you from washing your perfect, frizz free hair is that it's gettin' pretty gross and greasy looking.

These genius powders are the answer! For all the dirty birdies out there, you can now just sprinkle some absorbent powder in your dewy 'do to prolong washing. For the rest of you who do like to keep your hair clean but know that it's best to create an up-do with day old hair, these powders are great for you too! Enjoy.

Cake Satin Sugar Hair & Body Refreshing Powder, $18, is a talc-free colored powder ideal for those of us who want to refresh our hair without having to wash it. This is the must-have product to keep in your bathroom.

Simply sprinkle some powder into your hands and run them through your hair between washings. You can also use it on your body by sprinkling a little bit in the areas that need a quick freshening up! It smells oh so sweet and is available in two hues: one for light hair and one for dark hair.

For two more dry shampoos, read more

Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo $19, is another fab way to give back some life to your day old 'do. This amazing dry shampoo actually cleans your hair without the mess of water and the fuss of styling!

It contains natural ingredients such as: rice, oat, and tapioca starches to absorb oils and increase the volume of your hair at the roots. The lemony scent also makes your hair smell fresh and clean too - this stuff rocks!

Lastly, you remember my post about the Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder from Red Week right? If not, check it out here. This stuff is awesome too.
