Lippmann's Fall Shades Are So Very Rocking

It's not even August, but the new Lippmann Collection Autumn colors are already available online. The four Fall shades are bold, rich in color, and perfectly fine to wear even before the weather cools down. The polishes are formulated to dry quickly and are made with green tea extract and proteins to keep your nails strong and shiny.

Deborah Lippmann is once again inspired by pop culture, and she named these new shades after popular songs. My favorite of the group is Pump Up The Jam, a dark and edgy shimmery metallic aubergine that contains flecks of iridescent gold. Beauty Products Inspired by Sex and the City

Can't wait for the movie premiere? These lipsticks and nail polishes have the same names as the main characters on Sex and the City.

Stila Lip Color in Miranda is a creamy, shiny coral lipstick; it was so popular in 2007, it won In Style's Best of Beauty Buys. Cargo PlantLove Lipstick in Sam ($20) is a deep red lipstick that exudes sexiness and confidence, just like powerhouse Samantha Jones - and Stila SPF 20 Shine Lip Color in Charlotte ($22) is a sheer orange shade with the shine of a gloss and the creaminess of a lipstick.

Sarah Jessica Parker and famed manicurist Deborah Lippmann collaborated to create a soft, cotton-candy pink nail lacquer called Sarah Smile ($15) during the heyday success of the sitcom, and Duri Cosmetics recently released a bluish-red, nail polish in Sex in the City ($5). It's clear that this fab four has influenced beauty looks over the past decade with their glamorous hair and fashion-forward makeup. Would you consider buying these SATC-inspired beauty products?

October Must-Haves

Another month rolls in, and so I'm rolling out my must-haves for October. I had a little fun this time around, choosing some out-of-the-ordinary styles with Halloween in mind. To take a look at my picks,

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so if you're planning to shop, why not think pink? Keep coming back to BellaSugar for pink-ribbon beauty suggestions each weekday.
Take a cue from Anna Sui's spring runway look and try a burst of color on Halloween. No need to go permanent with your new shade-you can get a wig for as little as $12.99 online!
Big hair is back! Check out my how-to-tease guide, and try a volumizing hair spray (like this Herbal Essences version) to hold it all together.
Dark nails are huge for fall, but if you don't want to go with black or deep red, why not try a deep blue hue? The trick is to get a blue that's almost black, so it won't look too Warped-Tour-circa-1998. Check out some of my color suggestions (including a surprisingly affordable one from Nars) or head to your drugstore for Sally Hansen's Midnight Frost shade.
MAC is just about to launch Mattene, its new collection of semi-matte lipsticks. I've had a chance to try them out and I'm in looooove. The colors are beautiful, the pigment doesn't disappear, and the formula doesn't dry out your lips. I think you'll be impressed!

Break-Up Makeup, Part I: Nail Polish

Break-ups are bad news, but they can also be a good excuse to give yourself a makeover, pamper yourself, and come out of the whole ordeal looking fabulous. And lately, I've noticed a number of cosmetics companies making break-up themed makeup to help you along.

So I bring you Part I of my Break-Up Makeup series, which today features a few kitschy nail lacquers to help you polish away your pain. (Thanks to Kiss and Makeup for the tip.) Now stop your whining and pamper yourself with a nice little mani/pedi.

Trend Alert: White Nail Polish

Memorial Day is just around the corner, and if you follow traditional fashion rules, that means it's officially time to start wearing white. So why not take a cue from Scarlett Johansson and try wearing it on your nails? (It works on real people too: Check out what Retail_therapy has to say.)

Pure white and off-white nails are very trendy right now, and both shades look especially good with tanned skin and summery clothes, like brights and pastels. Here are three products to help you get the look.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Fit for a Queensland ($7.50). This shade from OPI's Summer Australia collection has an iridescent finish.

Deborah Lippmann Loves Footloose, Made a New Polish Collection For the Movie

The upcoming Footloose remake might not be typical inspiration for luxury nail polish goddess Deborah Lippmann, but she's debuting a hot new set of hues ($32 for two) that pay homage to both the original film and the new version. "I am a huge fan of the original Footloose, so, admittedly, I was nervous about the idea of a remake of such an iconic film," Lippmann told us. "I just saw the prescreening of the movie and loved the new version."

The four shades all allude to classic moments from the film, and you might already recognize some of the colors. "Almost Paradise is a playful pistachio inspired by the Volkswagen Beetle from the original and the new movie," Lippmann says. "Footloose, a rebellious red, was (of course) inspired by Arielle's iconic red cowboy boots. Let's Hear It For the Boy, the baby blue shade in the collection, was inspired by acid-wash jeans. Gotta love the Levi's, and the way this song is presented in the remake is fantastic! And Dancing in the Sheets, a deep midnight purple shimmer, was inspired by the final hurrah when the ban was lifted and everyone danced all night long with confetti everywhere! I found this so uplifting and inspiring." Sounds like she nailed the movie.

Three years. That's how long it took manicurist Deborah Lippmann to test, tweak, and perfect the rose-gold nail polish she used for Badgley Mischka's Spring 2012 runway show. Inspired by a fancy-schmancy Rolex, the warm metallic shade, Glamorous Life, added a satin finish to fingertips. A color this gorgeous, versatile, and chic is as suitable for real life as it is on the runway, and at $16, it's an absolute steal when compared to a Rolex. Though it debuted during next year's collections, it lands on counters later this month. We're counting down the minutes . . .

Custom-Blend Nails Shine at Costello Tagliapietra

At Costello Tagliapietra, manicurist Deborah Lippmann (for Beauty.com) nailed a chic, sophisticated look with a nude-gray hue. "The woman is 'finished,'" Lippmann said of the collection's inspiration. "She's definitely a woman, not a little girl." To play off the textures and patterns of the clothes, Lippmann layered two nail polishes to create a neutral nail that flattered models of all skin tones. First, she adorned nails with Waking Up in Vegas, a creamy gray with blue undertones. Then, she added a coat of Fashion, a yellow-based taupe. Customizing the color for each model involved using thicker or thinner coats to complement their undertones; the key to getting it right lies in the cuticle. "If your cuticle looks red, brown, or darkened when a polish is applied, the color is wrong for you," Lippmann explained. "With this look, we can make it look great on everybody."

Viva Las Vegas: Lela Rose Looks to Sin City For Inspiration
