I'm about to have a big MAC attack, because the avant-garde fashion designer Alexander McQueen is rumored to be working on a color collection for MAC.
My contacts at MAC are mum about it for now, but word on the street is that it will incorporate many of the colors that MAC artists used in McQueen's fall/winter 07 show (shown here). If that's the case, we can expect an update to Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra look: Egyptian eyes with kohl liner, matte green lids and well-defined brows.

Every year, MAC comes out with a really cool limited edition set for the Nordstrom Anniversary Pre-Sale Event. Last year, they made some wicked mini purple makeup brushes, and this time they have created an entire line called MAC Limited Edition Novel Twist Collection. The mini makeup brushes are charcoal gray, and the black boucle cases sport colorful aqua or baby-pink threading.

Primers are nothing new, but the SPF 50 sun-protection in this just-released MAC Cosmetics product stopped me in my tracks. Called Prep and Prime ($26.50), this multi-tasking potion acts as a moisturizer, a primer, and a sunscreen, so you can cut out a couple of steps.
All you need is a small amount, and it absorbs very quickly.

I know, I know: Picking a favorite makeup brand is like choosing between your children. But I've narrowed it down to department stores to make it easier: If you could only shop at one counter, what would it be?

On the highly anticipated release date of May 31, MAC Cosmetics is launching a new genre of lip color called Tendertones ($14). (Thanks to Product Girl for the tip.)
These limited-edition color pots sound like just my thing: The moisturizing formula has a lip balm texture with a lip gloss feel, and they're even a bit more sheer than regular gloss. The nine shades come complete with SPF 12 and a refreshing and light strawberry-kiwi flavor that's perfect for summertime.
