Thandie Newton never fails to look gorgeous on the red carpet, and last night was no exception. Her look at the 2012 premiere was incredibly simple and easy but with tons of impact. On her eyes, she paired a thin line of pewter eyeliner with a taupe eye shadow brushed from lash line to brow bone.

Do you remember that show from the '80s, Webster, where there was always some kind of "very special episode"? Perhaps the coolest part of that show was the secret passageway through the grandfather clock in the living room, where Webster would hide when the timing was right. While a revolving bookcase or hidden corridor might not be as feasible in real life, some of these makeup items might have you reminiscing about hidden compartments and secret hideaways.

Once a makeup item has achieved cult status, we can almost assuredly expect replicas to pop up anywhere from drugstore brands to competing department store collections. Recently, I mentioned that I had found a great dupe for Nars's famous Orgasm blush in Milani's Luminous. Thanks to input from readers Baby Girl, yajairab, JessRose, and SnufaLuffaGus143, I've gathered together 10 products that could easily pass for the original.

Designer and Project Runway judge Michael Kors is getting pretty with a new color cosmetics collection that's due in January. The makeup line, which was created in collaboration with Estée Lauder, is part of the Very Hollywood brand and is designed to be the makeup equivalent of Michael's recently released perfume. The collection comes in two palettes, a pink and a beige-coral, with complementary blushes, sheer lip "sheens," and eyeshadow kits for each.

If you already love your Burberry trench, scarf, bikini, and handbag, get ready to add makeup to your collection, because WWD is reporting that the company has just announced the colors for its cosmetics line, which is slated to arrive in July 2010. Philippe Benacin, chairman and managing director of Inter Parfums SA, says the collection will be "a complete color line with about 100 references for eyes, lips, and skin" and will be carried at Nordstrom. My question is, though, how will Burberry create makeup that's any better than what a company that specializes in the products does?

Recently, while searching for a top online, I came across a pretty decent-looking clothing item that had my name as the descriptor. (You know, the Nicole polka-dotted sweater or the Kelsey ballet flat.) This got me to thinking. Bare Escentuals has Buxom Lips ($18) glosses, with each shade carrying with it a distinctively fun name, while Stila has lots of lipsticks with monikers inspired by its staff members.

The economy might (might) be on its way to recovery, but that doesn't mean I'll stop saving my pennies as much as possible. I'm always in the pursuit of looks for less, and over the weekend, I picked up Milani Blush Compact in Luminous ($3.50) — a pretty decent lookalike of the classic gold-toned peachy pink Nars blush in Orgasm ($25). While Milani's Luminous is not an exact replica of the famous afterglow shade, as it's not quite as pigmented, since it's about $20 less, I'm a happy lady.
