Over the last couple of days, celebrities have been popping up at Fashion Week and the 2009 Toronto Film Festival with more than a love of cool clothing or a movie premiere in common. From Rachel Bilson to Drew Barrymore, blue and blue-green nails are everywhere. I love that these traditionally warmer-weather shades are making the seasonal transition, and the range of fashionable colors means there are flattering colors and depths of tones for practically every skin tone. Michelle Trachtenberg Nails the Gossip Girl Look

At last night's Guess boutique party, Michelle Trachtenberg dished on the relationship drama we'll come to see on the next season of Gossip Girl. But that's not all she revealed; turns out, M.T. has a nearly photographic memory when it comes to her character's manicures.

"Not a lot of people know this, but I like to change Georgina’s nail polish color," Michelle told us. "It’s very reflective of the season. When I first came on I was wearing the Chanel that was crazy limited [Blue Satin]. In the second season, I wore Essie Wicked on my fingers. At the very end, when I was enrolling into NYU, I had a cobalt blue. For this season, we start out at first with Essie Berry Hard and now this is the OPI That's Hot! Pink. I’m really serious about her nail polish!"

How-To: Michelle Trachtenberg’s Costume Gala Glow

If there was one secret that Gossip Girl could reveal, I wish it would be about Michelle Trachtenberg's skincare regimen. At the Costume Institute Gala, her face was blemish-free. She looked like a Botticelli portrait with her smooth, ivory skin and rosebud lips and cheeks.

If you are interested in creating this makeup look at home, here are a few product and application suggestions for you.

FACE: Begin by applying a thick, moisturizing cream so that the makeup doesn't dry out your face. Once it's mostly absorbed, spread a creamy and sheer, liquid foundation such as Elizabeth Arden Intervene Makeup SPF 15 in Soft Shell all over and blend with a synthetic brush. Next, add concealer and eye brightener and use a makeup sponge for the ultimate blend.

CHEEKS: Then, apply a creamy reddish-pink blush such as Becca Beach Tint softly to your cheekbones and blend well. Only use a little bit - the idea is to create a natural-looking flush, not to define your cheekbones.
EYES: For this look, the eyes need to be defined, but soft. Start by sweeping a champagne shadow over the entirety of your lids. Next, apply a shimmery brown shadow to the crease. Then, blend a peachy shadow (great for blue eyes) over the brown to soften the brown. I really like Smashbox's Eye Shadow Trio in Smashbox.com for this look. Next, use the champagne shadow and add it to the 'inner v' of your eyes, extending the shadow halfway in on both eyes (using thin brush). Line eyes with a black liquid liner, add false lash pieces on the outer lashes and finally, apply two coats of mascara.
LIPS: Lastly, apply a light berry stain to your lips such as Stila's Cherry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain and top it off with a shiny, clear gloss.

Love It or Hate It? Michelle Trachtenberg's Costume Institute Gala Look

Now that Michelle Trachtenberg is on Gossip Girl, she's getting invited to all of the swankiest soirees in town. And judging by how she looks at the Costume Institute Gala, she's going to make some best-dressed lists.

I love how her copper eye shadow makes her eyes appear so bright, and her glossy, stained lips look full and flawless. Something about her eyeliner feels almost a little too heavy to me, but if you can't wear thick eyeliner to a gala, then when can you wear it?
