2010 Oscars: Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus tends to be youthful and flirty with her red carpet looks, but she took it up a notch for the Oscars (just check out her elegant look from last year). For the 2010 Academy Awards, she wore a beautiful, wavy updo that was slightly unkempt, but oh so chic. She went a little more dramatic with super-sized lashes and slick lips. So that's mostly a win for Miley in my book. Do you agree?

Normally, we see Miley Cyrus sporting long curly locks, lots of dark, smoky eye makeup, and glossy nude lips. What differentiates her style this evening? It's all about the matte lip, which she paired with copper-toned accents on the cheeks and eyes. It all came together to complement those chestnut brown locks, which appear to have more of a red hue, no? Are you glad to see that Miley took it to a slightly different level here, or are you simply just not a fan?

Trend Alert: Bold Golds at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards

Whether it was a subtle shimmer like Emma Roberts's, a bold, rich shade like Jordana Brewster's, or a mellow yellow version à la Leighton Meester, we saw lots of gilded beauties on the runway at last night's Teen Choice Awards. Notice how each of the women kept it simple with varying shades of nude and pink on the cheeks and lips. What do you think of these golden girls? Hannah Montana has . . . a nose piercing? Yep. Though her makeup was still low-key and teen appropriate, Miley's rocker-chic waves, big jewelry, and newish nasal decoration all suggest that daddy Billy Ray may be about to see his baby girl grow up. A vision in pinky beige, Miley Cyrus is straddling the girl/woman divide quite well at the MTV Movie Awards. While the low-backed dress is very grown up, her hair and makeup are youthful and age appropriate. Miley often goes with a dramatic eye and glossy nude lip, and her glam curls prove that ponytails don't have to be boring. Do you like the look, or is it giving you an achy breaky heart?

2009 Kids' Choice Awards: Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus seems like one of those girls with tons of energy. I'd be jealous, but then I remember she's only 16. (Wait until you're my age, Miley.) Anyway, along with her bubbly personality, I notice her obvious love for ultra-long extensions. So don't color me surprised by this look.

Tonight's makeup look involves light shadow around her eyes, intense lashes, and pale pink lips and cheeks. She looks sweet and happy to me; does her wide-eyed look work for you?

2009 Oscars: Miley Cyrus

Just like she did last year, Miley Cyrus tamed her makeup and kept her extensions in check for the more mature Oscars ceremony. Miley seems to know that this is the awards show to go a little more regal and play it a little safer. But that doesn't mean the 16-year-old doesn't look fresh and fun. In fact, I think this is one of Miley's best looks. The hair is a great tone for her and frames her face nicely. The makeup is just as lovely. All in all, she looks both young and appropriate for the occasion. Is this one of your favorite Miley looks, too?

Miley Cyrus has taken a lot of heat recently for some questionable pictures that popped up on the internet. Most of you weren't feeling her non-apology from last week, and maybe that's why we're seeing a more subtle Miley tonight.

Her pink blush, glossy lips, and curly ponytail are youthful and soft. Long lashes and light-handed eye shadow complete the look. Do you like this more subdued style or do you like Miley with a little more edge?

How-To: Miley Cyrus's Makeup at the Golden Globe Awards

When you're sixteen years old, the most flattering makeup is fresh and light, much like Miley Cyrus's look at the Golden Globes. Makeup artist Mai Quynh, working with Mark cosmetics, created this easy look for the teenage superstar. I like it on the red carpet, but it would be just as appropriate with jeans and a tee. Here's how to steal Miley's makeup look:

Face: For everyday wear, stick with a tinted moisturizer that lets your skin show through. Use a sheer cheek stain (Miley wore Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude) on the apples of cheeks. Let your cheeks capture the light by applying luminizer or a sheer gold powder blush such as Golden Glo.
Eyes: Create the appearance of larger eyes by sweeping shimmery eye shadow on the inner V of your eyelids. (Quynh used Shimmer Cubes in Moonlight and Shimmer Bars in Twilight on Miley.) Then, use a shimmery bronze eye shadow in the creases of the eyelid; use the same color to line the bottom lash line. Follow with black mascara.
Lips: Quynh played up Miley's lips in two steps. First, she applied Gleamstick in Platonic, a neutral pinky brown. She followed with a sheer pink gloss - in this case, Glow Baby Glow gloss in Smooches.

You liked her American Music Awards look and her MTV VMAs look, too. Will her Golden Globes hair and makeup get high marks as well?

The 16-year-old star has a Greek goddess vibe going, with her long flowing curly brown hair and buttery highlights complementing her long, flowing off-white gown with golden accents. Some warm taupe eye shadow and pretty pink gloss and blush complete the look.
