Get Natalie's Yellow Nail Polish Look

I never thought of Natalie Portman as being too over-the-top crazy with her hair, makeup, or outfit choices. So I'm somewhat surprised to see her wearing bold, bright yellow nail polish. I guess it's not too outlandish. Pantone, the company responsible for predicting color trends in the home and fashion industries, did predict that the bright and sunny shade of mimosa would be the color of 2009, after all.

As for the polish, I'm not sure if I've embraced its hue quite yet, but I'm digging how Natalie chose to wear it with a crisp white shirt, simple blazer, and dark denim. This shade harkens back to the punky days of the late '70s and early '80s - skinny jeans and black and white striped t-shirt included. Thinking yellow might be in your forecast? I'd have to say that Natalie Portman's Cinematography award presentation (with Ben Stiller as Joaquin Phoenix) was one of last night's most memorably awkward moments. While she did a great job of looking uncomfortable, it was also hard to miss her stunning beauty.

Chanel makeup artist Jeanine Lobell was inspired by Natalie's orchid Rodarte dress in creating this look, aiming for "cool punk-rock sexy fairy." That's quite a mouthful, but it's also quite a pretty style, so get step-by-step instructions when you read more.

Eyes: To achieve this smoky eye look, use Chanel Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express. Apply the pale pink as a base and then smudge the dark purple hue into the lower lash line and to create the smoky eye on the top lid. Next, add the Noir Intense Eye Pencil inside the eye. Finish up with Inimitable Mascara (in Noir Black) on the lashes and Perfect Brows (in Brun) to define the brow.
Cheeks: Add Chanel Powder Blush in Narcisse high on the cheekbones for a splash of color.
Lips: For a pale glossy effect, apply the lavender Glossimer in Galactic to unlined lips.
Body: With a strapless dress like this one, get a sexy, bronze sheen by using Sheer Brillance on arms, shoulders and décolleté.

2009 Oscars: Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is killing it on the red carpet. She wore a lovely lavender-colored strapless gown, which was a great foundation for her overall look as she mimicked the color on both her lips and her cheeks. In almost exact opposition were her brightly hued, blue-shadowed eyes and long, long lashes. In a way, it's almost a bit '80s, but in the most elegant sense - especially with the pulled back hair. What do you think of Natalie's look? Is it retro in a good way, or are you not feeling it?

Love It or Hate It? Natalie Portman Goes Softly Curly

Natalie Portman was out and about during the Venice Film Festival this weekend. Busy girl - she was just in San Francisco last week. (I spotted her lovah Devendra!) This isn't the first time she's worn her hair curly (witness this wavy updo) but it's more casual than many stars' looks at the film festival. What do you think of this look for Natalie?

Natalie Portman lightened up her typically brunette hair for the April cover of UK Marie Claire and for her press tour for The Other Boleyn Girl. The last time we saw bright pink lips like this was on Elisha Cuthbert and before that it was at the 2007 Spring Diane von Furstenberg Fashion Show. Now, two gorgeous A-list ladies are looking fierce in fuchsia!
