Over the past few days, it's been chunky side braids aplenty. While various types of braids have been hot for years now, check out how these three women put their own twist on this trend below. Jessica Simpson stepped out for Easter dinner with the family at first wearing this classic French braid, which mysteriously disappeared before she left the restaurant. Drew Barrymore paired her braid with a retro twist and some serious red lipstick while promoting her new film on Live With Regis and Kelly. As for Nicole Richie, she chose a casual wraparound braid with long, heavy bangs when she was out and about in LA. So, tell me. While we're still seeing everything from satiny flowers to wispy feathers (hello, Gossip Girl), metallic headbands are also ruling the fashion scene. Although we haven't seen Mischa Barton wearing her signature style as of late, she does carry a line of headbands in collaboration with accessories designer Stacey Lapidus. As for the hair accessories business, Mischa's not alone. Nicole Richie's House of Harlow 1960 collection includes metallic headpieces, which she told Pop were her favorite of the line. Then there's Paris Hilton. She has her perfume line to keep her busy, but that doesn't stop her sporting this Grecian-like adornment in sparkly silver tones. How-To: Nicole Richie's Laid Back and Natural Braid

At the 18th Annual Environmental Media Awards, Nicole Richie was all laid back and natural with her delicate French braids wrapped like a headband. If you're feeling this sexy, bohemian style, I've got the how-to below. And for another hippie-esque take on the look, try out Sarah Michelle Gellar's more twisty, less braidy updo from earlier this year.

Slightly dirty hair is easier to work with than freshly washed hair, but you can create "day-old" hair with a texturizing product. Lightly sprinkle Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion ($23) on the roots, working through to ends.
Next, part hair down the middle, stopping right before the crown area.
On one side, start French braiding. Gather pieces of hair as you move down, wrapping around to the opposite side, stopping before the ear. Hold together with a clear elastic band ($3.99). Don't worry about loose ends. Leave them for later.
On the other side, French braid - still gathering pieces as you go down, wrapping around to the opposite side like before. Focus on hiding the clear elastic band from your previous braid by tucking and intertwining loose ends from this braid. Use bobby pins to secure. The whole look is earthy, so be creative. The more you weave pieces from each braid together, the more organic and "flowy" it will feel.

How-To: Nicole Richie's Golden Glow

At the 30th Annual Carousel of Hope Ball last week, Nicole Richie punctuated a flawless, radiant complexion with a shot of black liquid liner. Her look has a rocker edge but still looks pretty and elegant, perfect for holiday cocktails (and as you can see, strategically-placed shimmer looks amazing in pictures).

Start with a clean, exfoliated, and moisturized face. Apply your favorite foundation with a brush for even coverage, or try an airbrush foundation like Dior DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation.
Apply a highlighter with a small brush on your cupid's bow, the tops of your cheeks, the inner corners of your eyes, and on your brow bones. Try YSL's new Touche D'Or Golden Touch for the face.

Apply a rosy blush with a hint of shimmer, like NARS Super Orgasm Blush.
Line the water line of the eye with a gold pencil (like Revlon Luxurious Color Eyeliner in Antiqued Gold) and the top with a black liquid liner, creating a wing. Follow with lots of black mascara.
Use an ultra-shiny lip gloss in a pale shade, like Maybelline Shiny-licious Lip Gloss in Coconut Cream, which has a pearly finish.
With a big, bushy brush, conservatively apply a luminizing face powder like LORAC Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder on places where the sunlight would hit your face, like the highest point on your chin, cheekbones, nose, and forehead. Test on your arm and be sure to tap the brush to make sure you don't use too much.
