Nina Ricci Presents Nina Perfume

The French fashion house Nina Ricci has introduced a new perfume, Nina. This romantic fragrance was inspired by the City of Light and by childhood fairy tales.

Everything about it is sweet: The fragrance features notes of lemon, lime, peony petals, moonflower, vanilla-infused red toffee apple, applewood and white cedar. The bottle was created out of bright raspberry-colored glass to resemble an apple, and its silver leaves sport an engraved Nina Ricci signature.

The Nina product range includes a 2.7 ounce eau de toilette spray ($67), a body lotion ($26) and a shower gel ($24). I'm not usually one for shower gels, but I bet the mix of apples and flowers would smell feel really fresh and clean. Do you think you'll check out Nina?

Diane Kruger, in a white Nina Ricci gown, and Joshua Jackson hit the red carpet in France today for the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Killing Them Softly. Diane's a juror at the glamorous event, though she and Josh have been escaping the festivities for couple's time. Diane and Josh kissed during dinner with friends last night and have also stepped out to party with pals. Also stepping out for this afternoon's screening is the film's star, Brad Pitt. He posed this morning at a photocall and chatted with reporters during a press conference. Brad talked about his wedding to Angelina Jolie, sharing that they have yet to set a date.

When we first heard that crop tops (and more specifically, bralets) were going to be big for 2012, we had our reservations - it seemed like a look best suited for outdoor music festivals and costume parties - but after seeing the midriff-baring look on the runways at Dolce & Gabbana, Nina Ricci, Prada, and others, we inevitably changed our tune, and are officially smitten with the idea of unleashing our inner Kelly Kapowski. The trend is rooted in '50s-era screen sirens like Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot, and Marilyn Monroe, but is also dripping with '90s nostalgia - calling to mind fashion-forward TV characters like Kelly Bundy, Donna Martin, and yes, Ms. Kapowski herself. If you're planning to try the trend this season, here are a few things to consider:

Find the right length for your body (and your confidence level). If you're proud of your tummy, don't be afraid to pick a piece that hits above the belly button. If you're less comfortable showing that much skin, you can still get in on the trend by opting for a top that bares just a sliver of your belly and comes in below your midriff.
Keep it sophisticated. Yes, this trend is inherently sexy and will veer on the side of flirtatious no matter what, but there are ways to go about it that will help you look more retro pinup than '80s video vixen. Wear your crop top with a high-waisted skirt (like we saw at Acne, Prada, and Emilio Pucci), or a navel-grazing pair of jeans or shorts (just see Preen and Proenza Schouler for stylish examples). You can also layer it up with a fitted blazer, sweet cardigan, or cool leather jacket. This will ensure that you keep things classy while staying on the sultry side of things.
Be prepared to turn heads. Whether you pair your bralet with hot pants or a maxi skirt, be forewarned: you will get attention - so be sure to throw your shoulders back and revel in it!

Peter Copping makes channeling the seductive edge of Parisian chic nearly effortless with Nina Ricci's Fall 2012. Set off in rich berry hues and a decidedly darker palette, Ricci is still all woman, only sexier. Where we're given ladylike shapes - cinched waists and full skirts, Copping finishes in sultry sheer, luxe fur, and leg-baring slits or cutout necklines. Tweedy fabrics in the sexiest iterations banish every image of traditional skirt suits reworked in curve-conscious dressing and patchworked with hints of lace. We get the playful references to lingerie dressing, but with every dose Copping's looks are all crafted with charm. A hint of floral print, pinks and pastels - even on heels finished with sparkly embellished straps - punctuate the black chiffon and deep plum hues giving way to a delightful girlishness in all the grown-up glamour. Twilight Takes a Bite From Nina Ricci's Apple

Poor Robert Pattinson. Not only does he have thousands of Twilight-obsessed teenagers chasing him, he's now going to smell them coming. That's because Hot Topic is stocking Twilight perfume ($48), a lavender-and-freesia scent. I'd tell you what it smells like, but I cannot bring myself to enter Hot Topic without feeling grizzled and going off on a tirade about mall emo.

I'll wager that it's not a sophisticated scent, and I'll also bet that Nina Ricci's lawyers are busy bees. Twilight has blatantly knocked off the fashion house's signature bottle (at right). Then again, I'd argue that the idea of a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire who doesn't feed on people was knocked off from Buffy, so what do I know?
