Now You Can Polish Your Laptop, Too

You can customize your shampoo and conditioner based on your hair color, and you can customize your makeup palette. Now, as part of Dell's Design Studio program, you can even customize the Dell Mini, Inspiron, and Studio laptop models with color options based on OPI nail polish colors. The collection, which will feature 26 color choices, will kick off with six lacquer shades: Kyoto Pearl, Princesses Rule!, Up Front & Personal, Dear Santa, Holiday Glow, and I’m Not Really a Waitress. According to OPI's Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, the line "recognizes the importance of nail polish and the role it plays in a woman’s life." As for Geek and I, while we think it's a fun concept, and the customization angle is appealing, we wonder: do women really need polish to compute? Tell us what you think in the comments.

Not only have we spotted minimal makeup this 2010 Spring Fashion Week, we're also seeing lots of pale nails. At Marc Jacobs's show, the theatrical makeup look, which was created by NARS and inspired by dancer Martha Graham, had a gothic, mysterious quality. As for the nails, Jacobs hand-picked four shades of OPI polishes to complement the whimsical, nude-toned clothing we saw on the runway. I'm sensing a trend alert here, as other designers, such as Erin Fetherston, Georges Chakra, and Andy & Debb have all featured pale polishes, too.

Take a Peek at the Trendiest Nail Polish Collections For Fall

As far as Fall nail polish trends are concerned, I foresee lots of hot pinks, mushroom tones, smoky metallics, burnt oranges, deep, intense greens, and the return of purple - but with a little less smoke and a little more attitude. As far as textures go, think mattes, creams, and brushed, velvety finishes. But, if you're a fan of the shimmer, don't fret. There's plenty of sparkle to go around. Like most makeup collections, nail polish colors take inspiration straight from the runways, and since nails are a fashion accessory, after all, many of these recently launched polish shades come straight to us from the Fall catwalks. Let's just say I'm not bored.

Michelle Trachtenberg Nails the Gossip Girl Look

At last night's Guess boutique party, Michelle Trachtenberg dished on the relationship drama we'll come to see on the next season of Gossip Girl. But that's not all she revealed; turns out, M.T. has a nearly photographic memory when it comes to her character's manicures.

"Not a lot of people know this, but I like to change Georgina’s nail polish color," Michelle told us. "It’s very reflective of the season. When I first came on I was wearing the Chanel that was crazy limited [Blue Satin]. In the second season, I wore Essie Wicked on my fingers. At the very end, when I was enrolling into NYU, I had a cobalt blue. For this season, we start out at first with Essie Berry Hard and now this is the OPI That's Hot! Pink. I’m really serious about her nail polish!"

Paige and OPI Team Up For a Polished Take on Denim

Fab usually gets to cover all the fun designer collaborations, but this one's pretty much made for Bella. Paige Premium Denim and OPI have paired up to create Bright Pair, a collection of Sno-Cone-hued jeans with nail polish to match. "Colored denim will be a huge trend for this summer and I was thrilled to work with the color experts at OPI to create the Bright Pair collection," said Paige Adams-Geller, creator and designer of Paige Premium denim. "We really worked together within our areas of expertise. I picked two great denim styles and Suzi from OPI chose their top six summer shades - all resulting in a young, wearable take on the trend."

Los Angeles ladies are lucky: Head to the launch party this Saturday, and you can meet Adams-Geller and OPI's Suzi Weiss-Fischmann at Ron Herman (8100 Melrose Ave.). The fete, which runs from 2-4 p.m., features complimentary manicures and a free bottle of polish with a Paige jeans purchase.

Paint Your Nails With a Click

OPI is always entertaining, from its wild and wacky naming strategies (Cosmo-not Tonight Honey!) to their oddly addictive "Try On This Color" feature. While you don't actually upload a picture of your own hand, OPI provides a blank palette from which you can work.

All you have to do is choose skin tone and nail length (mine are nub-like). Then, you can click (and click, and click. . .) away to try on a selection of more than 200 shades, which are broken down by color and collection. And now that it's wedding season on the Sugar network, I imagine that this interactive feature will probably prove invaluable to all you engaged lasses out there who are looking for a nice polish to show off that sparkly ring. Just don't wear that Cosmo-not Tonight Honey! on your honeymoon.

Reader Review of the Day: Sephora by OPI Nail Color

Sometimes you find a nail polish you like because it wears beautifully. Sometimes you find a nail polish you like because of great color choices. And sometimes, these two criteria combine, forming the perfect polish. Reader Laratf is impressed with Sephora by OPI Nail Color ($9), and here's what she had to say about it:

"I can't say much that hasn't already been covered in regards to performance (in that [it] is the same, reliable, awesome stuff you would expect from OPI!). I will discuss the awesome selection of shades that OPI has created for Sephora with my personal favorites being Metro Chic and Queen of Everything. I wish the price point were lower since it would inspire me to snatch these up in greater volume, but since the quality is still ranking high above the competition, I will rest assured that Sephora's collection by OPI continues to bring exciting, cutting-edge shades to the table."

New Product Alert: OPI 90210 Collection

As previously reported, OPI has developed a line of 90210-themed nail polish. The bad news for fans of the original series is that the collection is inspired by the new show. The good news is that the three colors are versatile and pretty - so even if you're more into Brenda and Dylan than Dixon and Silver, they're worth a look.

The nail polishes ($8.50 each) are available now, but they'll be retired before long. If there's another round of polishes, might I suggest a peach shade in honor of Nat?

Nicole by OPI Nic's Sticks: A Bar Experiment

This product has mojo - I mean, it literally became the center of attention on a recent Saturday night outing whilst Mr. Bella and I looked on in amusement. After dinner, my friend, knowing all too well that I'm a nut for products, asked what beauty goodies I had on hand. She wasn't disappointed as I whipped out Nicole by OPI Nic's Sticks in Where's My Chocolate? ($7).

Hmm - fun experiment, I thought. Since it's supposed to be so easy to use, why not have my somewhat tipsy friend give it a try? I mean, if she could easily apply nail polish with this product after a few mojitos, it's got to be good, right? To find out, read more.

A few clicks of the "pen" and she was on her way. Judging from the stares at the table next to us, I assumed they were annoyed by that chemically nail polish aroma. Nope, they were quite curious, actually. Even our server got in on the action. Here is the general consensus, along with some pics:

Pros:
"It's cool. I like it, and it's very easy to apply. Yay! No streaks," said my friend. "You could use this anywhere," said the lady next to us. "I'm impressed, but the color's not for me," chimed another. No fret - They've got everything from trendy lavender (Text Me) to deep black (Home by Midnight) and many in between.

Cons:
We tried, but we couldn't get away with just one coat. Although it dried quickly, it was still rather tacky a little longer than we expected. After two days, it still looks nice, but with a few minor chips.
