Guylashes: The Latest Male Grooming Craze?

Guys sporting makeup is no new phenomena, and many brands are happy to oblige with cleverly named, dude-centric products. From manscara to male polish to guyliner, there's a beauty product out there for any chap who so desires to enhance his beauty. Add to the list now guylashes, aka false eyelashes designed for guys' eyes, such as Eylure's Natural Lashes For Men (about $8). "We first noticed this increased interest in male eye-grooming when the new Blink bar was bombarded by men," David Walker-Smith of Selfridges told told the Daily Mail. Whether or not the trend sticks around (heh, get it?) remains to be seen, but what say you on the guylash craze?

Man Sues Nail Salon Over a $10 Manicure

A Maryland man is suing a nail salon for $200,000 because last December, he went in for a manicure only to discover that the salon charged one dollar more than what a woman would pay. "I feel I'm being discriminated against based on my gender," customer Norris Sydnor III proclaimed. "There's nothing to say my hands or my nails are any different than a woman's nails."

While a judge has since ordered an injunction that the offender, Rich's Nail Salon, not charge different prices based on gender (they were charging $10 for a man's manicure and $9 for a woman's), we'll learn the final say after the suit goes to trial next month. But here's the thing: Women have been paying more for things like haircuts and dry cleaning for ages, and that's on top of the gender-based wage gap that leaves women earning less than men. So does Sydnor have a case, or is this just a lawsuit waiting to be thrown out?

Shaken, Not Stirred: James Bond-Style Scents

Over the years, there have been several James Bond-inspired colognes and perfumes on the market. And although some are out of production, come 2012, a Bond-inspired cologne is launching to coincide with the release of the 23rd film in the series (it also happens to be the 50th anniversary of first movie's debut). No word on what the juice will smell like or its name, but until then, take a peek at a few Bond-like scents, such as:

A.B.R. Barlach's James Bond perfume ($23) - An oriental fragrance that has notes of citrus, sensuous flowers, vanilla, and musk.
Floris London's No 89 eau de toilette ($95) - This scent - which has notes of citrus, sandalwood, rose, orris, and oakmoss - is said to have been worn by James Bond in author Ian Fleming's novels.
Demeter Fragrance Library's Martini ($6 to $30) - OK, so it's not exactly a Bond scent, but we all know how much the spy himself loves the potent, classic cocktail.
Geo F. Trumper's Eucris ($65) - While also not a fragrance inspired specifically by the Bond books and flicks, this sophisticated, sensuous eau de toilette is also apparently a Bond favorite. Includes notes of musk, moss, sandalwood, jasmine, muguet, cumin, and coriander.
Avon's Bond Girl 007 Forever ($14) - A sexy cocktail of citrus fruits, florals, and smoky woods.

Watch This Guy Put Nearly 3,000 Toothpicks in His Beard

A gentleman going by the name of "Beardpick" recently uploaded a video of himself sticking over 2,700 toothpicks in his beard in order to try the toothpick challenge. I did a little looking, and there are also videos up of guys putting toothpicks in their hair. Is this a new thing with men? Because it seems like there's a whole YouTube subgenre of dudes who have a lot of tiny sticks and some very patient friends. Watch the video above and tell me whether you think this was a good use of Mr. Beardpick's time.

Original Penguin Launches Its First-Ever Signature Scent

Pete the Penguin has something new for which to waddle in pride. The Original Penguin, the company his fictional character represents, is launching its first-ever fragrance: An Original Penguin by Munsingwear ($50 to $65).

The oriental scent, will include notes such as purple sage, golden apple, and neroli at the open; black pepper, lavender, and fir needle at the middle; and tonka bean, vanilla noir, dark musk, and patchouli at the drydown.

Expect to see the eau de toilette in Nordstorm at the end of the month, followed by Original Penguin stores, and eventually at Dillard's and Lord & Taylor. Stars like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra were fans of the old-school brand, and based on the description of the juice, modern crooners just might be, too. Will you test it out?

Oh, Isaiah Mustafa, when will you let go of the nation's collective heartstrings? Every time you say "Hello, ladies," I actually do want to buy some Old Spice just to keep you employed forever. And now there's another Old Spice spot out for the brand's Fiji-scented dude products. This time around, we get to see Isaiah wear board shorts, play the guitar, and schlep around adorable baby beagles. I'm disappointed by how short the new ad is but also don't care that much as long as Isaiah continues to be hilarious and blazing hot like the sun. Apparently, Many Men Think They Look Like Brad Pitt

Turns out there are a lot of guys who are either very good-looking or have very good self-esteem. A recent Allure survey asked 2,000 men and women about their views of beauty. When men were asked which celebrity they resembled, the most common answer was Brad Pitt. Are lots of men really that good-looking? Perhaps they're unfamiliar with other male celebrities. Or - the best possibility of all - they could be regular dudes who lend their time to charitable initiatives while still looking good in a slim suit. Inquiring minds want to know.
