Reader Review of the Day: Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask
Jan 8 2010 - 9:00am I haven't used Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask ($21) since college, so when I came across reader voxtrotlous's review of the pore- and pimple-clearing treatment, I got all nostalgic. But is it worth the purchase? Find out what today's reviewer had to say below: It's not a complete dud of a product.

Wierd... I really love this product! I don't use it often but when I do it's great and I'm not the only one in my household who loves it - my Mom sneaks into my bathroom once in a while to borrow it!

me too...use this mask probably once or twice a month for a real deep cleansing and my pores thank me. now i don't have problem skin so maybe that is where the difference lies, but for a deep pore cleansing mask i haven't found better

Thanks for the review on this, I have been looking into trying it since I like Origins' Out of Trouble face mask so much. But I might still try this one anyway and see what it does!

I agree with the first two comments. This stuff has completely changed my skin! I did some research, and it seems like this works best if you take a shower and use some sort of scrub (I use St. Ives) to open up pores. Then smear the mask all over, wait 30-45 minutes, and use a warm washcloth to remove. I seem to get better results if I used a toner after that (the pores are nice and open and clean, and I guess it kills germs or something). But then *definitely* use a lightweight moisturizer. Your skin will need it.

Doing that whole thing every week or two has moved me from the "moderate" to "mild" acne category. My skin isn't porcelain (yet), but I can tell when I've not been using the mask for a while: whiteheads and blackheads all over my chin and jawline.

I used this all the time in grad school. At first it was fabulous but then it stopped working for me. I may give it a try since it has been awhile since I used it.

I used this when I was in school. It worked beautifully but then I stopped using it. I wonder why? Well I can swing by the department store and pick one up.
