Tomorrow, Paul Mitchell's stylist schools are having Free Hugs Day, where they'll send students from more than 100 of their locations out on the street to offer passers-by free hugs. They'll be dressed in their black Paul Mitchell outfits, so if you see someone all in black with great hair hugging tons of people, don't be alarmed. It's all inspired by the Free Hugs campaign. My question is, do you like getting hugs from strangers? Some people love hugging in general, while others aren't such big fans, and a hug from someone you've never met is utterly different for many people from one given by a loved one. What do you think? Tea Tree Oil Products, Part III: Hair Care

Welcome to my third and final post in this tea tree oil products series. Today I've picked out a few very special hair and scalp products containing tea tree oil that are designed to correct dry, itchy, flaky unbalanced scalps, as well as lackluster, brittle hair. Bumble and Bumble Styling Wax ($23) is a styling product that helps separate and hold. Since it contains silicone, it also adds a fair amount of sheen to the hair. Because the wax stays moist, your hair will be more malleable than if you applied a hairspray or gel.

Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Spray Wax ($3.33) adds definition to your 'do, while still allowing movement and shine. You can use it on either dry or damp hair: Simply shake well, spritz, and mold hair any way you like!

Paul Mitchell Spray Wax ($18.35) is made from all-natural beeswax, which provides a satiny and soft finish while still creating a soft hold. Hair is left feeling pliable and texturized. It also smells really great!

Hold It! Medium Hold Hairsprays

With all of the gorgeous red carpet and complex hair dos I've been covering, I realized that a light hold hairspray isn't always enough. Sometimes you've got to kick things up a notch to ensure all that hard work doesn't fall apart. However, trying to find a hairspray that won't leave your hair (and fingers) feeling sticky and icky isn't always that easy. Alas...here are a few!

Dove Extra Hold Aerosol Hairspray, $5.19, is a medium hold spray - so don't let the name fool you. This spray is much more gentle than you think. Beauty School: It's More Than Just Hair and Makeup

When you think of beauty school, what comes to mind? Frankie Avalon crooning away about dropping out? Or perhaps you picture a "blue hair" waiting for her roller set to be styled. These days, the stereotypes about obtaining a cosmetology license have almost vanished. In fact, enrollment has spiked over the past three years, according to Jim Cox, executive director of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools.

"It used to be most schools were small and privately owned, but now brand names like Paul Mitchell and Aveda are also getting into the business," said Cox. True, there are some disadvantages to the career (back pain or varicose veins associated with constant standing, chemical exposure, possible carpal tunnel) but experienced professionals can earn upwards of six figures, with plenty of job availability.

Plus, it's not all about the basics anymore. Students are often trained in massage and holistic treatments. It's also not all about the newly graduated high-schoolers, either, as the college-educated often seek enrollment as well. While each state varies in the amount of training required, and each school varies by price (some are up to $18,000!), a career in the beauty industry is becoming more and more prestigious, with flexible hours to boot. Oh, and I imagine making people feel good is quite rewarding, too.

Beauty Mark It Results: Volumizing Shampoo

Pump, pump, pump it up. Did you clap and shout to the beat of that cheer back in high school, too? Rah-rah ways aside, for last week's Beauty Mark It challenge, I asked you to show me how you pump up your hair's volume by reviewing your favorite/not-so-favorite volumizing shampoos.

I loved reading about your picks, and here are three featured reviews:

Team member Myystque wasn't feeling the love for Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Daily Shampoo ($8.49). "I hate to say this, since I love the Paul Mitchell brand's ethics," she confesses. "But this shampoo was horrible. It made my hair feel clumpy and thick, not voluminous. If anything, it felt worse when dry. The product was so disappointing I took it back to the store for a refund."
A few of you really liked Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Shampoo ($13.99). Luluroller says, "I've tried a ton of volumizing shampoos and this is always my go-to. Paired with the conditioner of the same name, this is guaranteed volume."
Bumble & Bumble's Thickening Shampoo ($18.99) was a hands-down favorite. "This is sort of my standard for thickening shampoo for fine hair," says Lscrabtr. "After using it, my hair hangs better, even without blow-drying or styling. If you do choose to use a blow-dryer or other styling tools, the results are dynamite. While I wouldn't expect miracles from a shampoo, this definitely delivers, without that static-y lightheadedness you can get from other products. A major drawback is the price and the availability."

Beauty Byte: Paul Starr, Top Makeup Artist, is Dead at 48

Sad news: Paul Starr, the influential makeup artist to celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Bjork, was found dead at his Los Angeles apartment Tuesday. Starr was the first in-house makeup artist for Estee Lauder, the founding Beauty Editor of Flaunt magazine, and the author of On Beauty: Conversations with Thirty Celebrated Women (which includes original interviews with Lindsay Lohan, Pam Grier, Britney Spears, and Joni Mitchell, among others). He worked with the best designers, directors and photographers in the industry. The cause of death has not been determined.
