Coco Rocha has jumped on the pink hair bandwagon. While heading to the 2012 Met Gala, the model previewed her pink ringlets on her Instagram feed. The formal affair honored design legend Elsa Schiaparelli, famous for her love of a shocking hot pink. And it won't be long until Coco can wear Schiaparelli pink on more than just her hair; the brand relaunch is set for February 2013.

Lauren Conrad took cute and flirty to whole new levels last night, wearing winged-out eyeliner and a bright pink ponytail at a signing for her latest book, The Fame Game. Earlier in the day, Lauren took to her Twitter account revealing her plans to go pink, saying, "Trying to convince @Kristin_Ess [her hairstylist] to dye my tips fuchsia for tonight's book signing..."

Ess responded through her Twitter page by joking, "Fuchsia Barbie it is." But the play on memorable childhood toys didn't stop there. Lauren later Instagramed a picture of the style, calling it "My Little (pink) Pony." Lauren is no stranger to far-out hair colors; she's done everything from peach to blue to rainbow-streaked strands. But what do you think of her brand-new fun-with-fuchsia look?

Stars Get Tickled Pink by One of This Year's Biggest Hair Trends

From rose gold to neon, pink hair is having a moment. But the color is no longer for punk rockers and rebellious teenagers (oh, Willow Smith). Pink has become a sophisticated way to add color to a formal look. Brooklyn Decker recently added hot pink pieces to her tousled updo at the Battleship premiere in South Korea, while January Jones's peekaboo panel of rose gold fades easily into her blond strands. Then there is Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson, who chose to dip-dye her bob for a day at the beach. And even Joan Rivers has tried the trend, further proving that age is just a number.

In the past we have seen pink hair on other Hollywood superstars like Rachel McAdams, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Dianna Agron, Sienna Miller, and Carrie Underwood. So it's clear that when the starlets aren't brave enough to try blue, pink is the next best thing.

January Jones Joins the Pink Hair Brigade

January Jones has always been a fashion risk taker, but in the past most of her daring hair and makeup has had a vintage homage feel that dovetailed nicely with her role in Mad Men. Now, though, it looks like she's gone back to the future with the new cotton-candy-hued highlights she showed off at a PaleyFest 2012 event honoring the show.

January certainly isn't the only star who has tried pink hair. Dianna Agron, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj have all tried the shade lately. January's look is a little more subtle, though, and is reminiscent of the pink hue Rachel McAdams sported a few years back. Betty Draper might not approve, but it looks like January is showing the rest of us how to make an edgy hair color more wearable.

Take a tip from reader PrettyShinySparkly, then, who recently wrote me about her new pastel pink and purple strands featured on her blog of the same name. Find out how she got them below:

A natural blonde, PrettyShinySparkly typically has her stylist put both highlights and lowlights in her hair, but due to time constraints, she pulled a DIY, using L'Oréal's Superior Preference in Glistening Magnolia ($15) in hopes of attaining a beachy-white blond. When the color turned out a little bit too buttery-yellow, she applied Wella's Color Charm Toner in #T18 ($5), a subtle lavender, to counteract any unwanted golden-toned pigments. "After rinsing out the toner, shampooing, and deep conditioning, I was shocked and flabbergasted to find that I had accidentally created the most perfect, subtle, barely-there version of the lavender highlights I was so coveting," she said.
Then, a few weeks later, as the streaks faded into a silver-toned lavender hue, she decided to keep the pastel theme going, applying Manic Panic's Cotton Candy ($7.50) and Mystic Heather ($9). The outcome? Fun and funky pink and purple semipermanent highlights that are perfect for Summer.

Lil Tip: Pick Your Battles

Sometimes you have to meet your kid in the middle. My daughter is pretty easygoing so when she asked for pink hair, I knew I'd be able to talk her into something a little less appearance altering. At four and a half, dye was out of the equation even if she pressed, but I was willing to cave on a wig. Then, an attachable pink hair piece caught her eye while we were passing Claire's at the mall. For $6, it brought a shock to her locks, me a peace of mind, and everyone was happy.
