Queen Latifah Reveals Details on Her Perfume

The celebrity-fragrance train shows no sign of slowing down - but it is making a stop at Latifah City. This August, Queen Latifah's fragrance, appropriately named Queen, will debut at Macy's, Bon-Ton, and Dillard's.

The multi-talented star says she tried more than four dozen scents before settling on the final formulation, which she calls a "warm and sexy" scent. “Queen doesn’t smell like anything else," she told WWD. "That’s what you’re setting out to do - to create something unique. People tend to want to borrow from what’s popular, and me, I try to be a pioneer, a trendsetter.”

Two sizes of eau de parfum, a body lotion, and a body butter will be available at launch. What's more, Queen hinted that this may be just the first step in a burgeoning beauty empire. "We’ve definitely been talking about how to increase brands specifically created by me that would encompass makeup and beauty products,” she told WWD.

Although I don't know her, I apologize to Queen Latifah for posting this less-than-flattering profile shot. It's just that her hairstyle was so lovely from the side that I wanted everyone to enjoy the simple twist at the nape of her neck.And, while we're not looking at her mouth midsentence, let's focus on how long her lashes look with those eyes closed. Back to front, we see that she has some pale shadow that gets darker at the edge of her eyes, lined glossy lips, and a smile. Do you like her smooth style or were you hoping for bolder makeup from this Cover Girl?

How-To: Queen Latifah's Makeup at the 2009 People's Choice Awards

At last night's People's Choice Awards Queen Latifah was a fabulous hostess. And, of course, no queen would be complete without a regal purple silk chiffon gown with multidimensional sparkles. As for her makeup? The majority of you loved it. Her look was a hit, and now I've got the details on how to be luminous like Latifah.

Seeing that the star is the spokesperson for CoverGirl, it's no surprise that celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine created her classic look with products from this iconic drugstore line. To see color selections and techniques straight from Fine himself, check out the how-to below:

Eyes: Fine applied an eggplant shade (which is easier to wear than lilac since it's closer to brown/mahogany tones) on the crease and underneath the lower lash line using Eye Enhancers Quad Eye Shadow in Ice Princess ($4.99). He also used an opalescent beige shadow on the eyelid to open up the eye. Next, he lined the top lash line for definition, applied false lashes, and some Volume Exact Mascara in Very Black ($7.29). "Mascara helps to fuse Queen's lashes to the fake lashes," he said. Great tip.

Cheeks: Since Queen Latifah had just come back from the holidays, Fine applied a dusting of Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer in Brown Bronze ($8.18) to keep that glow going. Then, he added some rosy blush on top for a subtle effect.
Lip: First, Fine used a liner to define the lip - a step he never skips. He chose a lipstick in a neutral, mauve tone and a complementary gloss called Wetslicks AmazeMint in Pink Positive ($6.25).
Costume change: When Queen Latifah changed into her green dress at the show, Fine created a completely different look just by switching up her lips. He applied Vibrant Hue Color Lipstick in Cherrylicious ($6.21), a cranberry shade, along with a matching gloss for a fast and easy metamorphosis.

The evening's hostess with the mostess, Queen Latifah, looked elegant walking the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards. Her hair hue is lighter than we saw at the AMAs, but it warms up her complexion with her perfectly groomed brows colored to match.

With blush properly applied on the apples of her cheeks, pink lips, and even shadow that brings out the purple in her dress, her beauty's strictly by the book. Should she have taken more of a risk, or does her safe look still seem as sweet?

2008 American Music Awards: Queen Latifah

You probably already know that Queen Latifah is music industry royalty. But did you know that she's a bronze goddess, too? By featuring this shimmery tan shade on her lips, cheeks, and eyes, the look is cohesive and natural, with a chic twist.

The singer/actress stacks her bangs high, and since her hair's normally quite short, I'm guessing she's sporting some extensions somewhere in that multi-toned 'do. Her signature fragrance will be out in a year, and until then, I'll keep my eye on her - she's definitely a beauty icon in the making.

Love It or Hate It? Queen Latifah's American Music Awards Look

Queen Latifah has left her blond wig behind, and to that I raise a toast. When your own hair is such a beautiful, shiny brunette color, why wig out? Queen isn't doing anything too fancy or fussy with her hair, letting her lips do all of the talking-literally and figuratively. (Ha ha. I know, groan.) That berry lip gloss works so well with her skin tone, and the blush gives just a hint of rosy glow to her cheeks. What do you think: Should we all hail Queen? Or is she a royal mess?

Beauty Byte: Cover Girl is Looking for a New Queen

Last week, Queen Latifah and Cover Girl held an open casting call to try and find a new woman to take over the throne. Instead of hiring another star or model, Cover Girl would like The Queen's replacement to be someone real.

Over 2,000 women showed up to the event held at B.B. King's in NYC's Times Square. Whoever is chosen will appear in the new ad campaign due out in June.

The contestants had 30 seconds to describe why they should be the makeup line's new face and to share how they have achieved both inner and outer beauty through overcoming an obstacle, an accomplishment, their involvement in the community, or standing up for something they were passionate about.

“The brand itself was made for real women. When the advertising agency wanted to include regular women in the campaign, I thought it really celebrated who we were targeting - an average, everyday woman of color with a story to tell.

36 women advanced to the second round of auditions and the new face will not be revealed for another two weeks. Which lucky lady will have her inner Queen revealed? Stay tuned for the results - having more than one winner is still being considered.
