How To: Get Heidi Klum's Emmy Awards Makeup Look

Now that we've talked about the red lipstick and the unique side updo that Heidi Klum wore to the 2007 Primetime Emmy Awards last night, let's take a closer look at the rest of the package from a beauty standpoint.

Believe it or not, this supermodel, TV star, jewelry designer, wife and mother of three has also just finished designing her own line of makeup for Victoria's Secret. The collection is called Heidi Klum Very Sexy Makeup Collection and will be available in mid-October-but more on that later!

Heidi didn't do her own makeup for the red carpet, though. Victoria’s Secret makeup artist Linda Hay was responsible for creating her flawless face, and she even used one of Heidi's new Very Sexy makeup product creations.

Face and Body: Linda bronzed Heidi's skin with a mixture of Bare Bronze Leg Perfecting Spray Tint and the Sexy Little Things Touch Me Gently Airbrush Moisturizer.
Step 2: Next, to give Heidi a little bit of glow (apparently Heidi is a huge fan of glitter), Linda applied a little bit of Bare Bronze Daily Glow Facial Moisturizer. Next, she dusted Very Sexy Mosaic Blush in Love Life to the apples of her cheeks for a rosy, pink look. Then she added some Very Sexy Mosaic Bronzer to her nose, forehead, temples and a down her neck and towards her chest.
Step 3:To create Heidi's smoky eye, Linda used a special mosaic eye shadow palette from the new Heidi Klum Very Sexy Collection .
Step 4:Lastly, for a jaw-dropping red lip, Linda lined Heidi’s lips with Very Sexy Lip Liner in Red Light, and topped it with Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Don’t Stop.

How-To: Zoe Saldana's Star Trek Premiere Hair

I don't know that much about Star Trek (except how to do an awesome Captain Kirk impersonation) but I do know that Zoe looked out of this world at the film's LA premiere.

Celebrity stylist Mara Roszak created a lovely look for the stunning actress using the same TRESemmé products found at your local drugstore. Live long and prosper when you follow her tips for making this sleek style at home.

Start by applying Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème from roots to ends - a small drop goes a long way!
Part hair down the center, divide into four sections, and blow dry with a round boar bristle brush, section by section, to get hair as straight as possible.
After hair is smooth and sleek, add a heat protectant and slowly flat iron small pieces of hair at a time.
Finish the look off with a holding shine spray . . . you know, to make it last for the entire red carpet, or the car ride to dinner.

Other Ways to Use Kleenex For Beauty

Did you know that Kleenex was originally marketed as a cold cream/makeup remover? It wasn't until a few years after its initial release that it was commonly thought of as a nose-blowing product. Backstage at Fashion Week, I saw lots of facial tissue, and it wasn't just for blotting lipstick or t-zones. This got me to thinking about facial tissue and its usage in beauty. Here are some of my tips below. What are yours?

Hair protector: Behind the scenes at Fashion Week, hairstylists often use tissue between hair clips to prevent any unnecessary denting on freshly-styled hair.
Powder palette: Scrape off powders from eye shadows and blushes onto a tissue to create an artist's palette. That way, you can mix different colors together without making a mess. It's also a sanitary way to do someone else's makeup since you won't be double dipping into the products.

Secret storage: Last year, I had the chance to interview Heidi Klum about how to look best on the red carpet (or pretty much any fancy event). She said, "My super-secret tip is I can't fit the powder compact into a very tiny evening bag, I'll take some shavings of the pressed powder wrapped in a tissue!"
Little helper: It might seem rather obvious, but tissues are great for removing gunk buildup around makeup items like mascara wands and nail polish threads. Clearing out the excess product ensures a tight seal, and prolongs the life of your makeup items. Yay.

How-To: Jennifer Aniston's Oscars Makeup Look

Jennifer Aniston may have skipped the red carpet at the Oscars, but she shone on stage. Leave it to Jen to have a simple but glamorous hairstyle, along with a sun-kissed face shown off by a genuine smile. "She is the quintessential California glamour girl," says makeup artist Angela Levin. "She was radiant as always on Oscar night."

Skin: After moisturizing Jennifer's skin, Levin applied Chanel Lift Lumiere foundation in Beige, concealing undereye circles with the matching concealer. Instead of blush, she dabbed Hydrabase lipstick in Coco Red on the apples of Jennifer's cheeks. After that, she dotted Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed around the tops of Jen's cheekbones. (This captures light with a slight shimmer.) A bit of powder bronzer gave Jen a sunny glow.
Eyes: Jen wore Lorac eye shadows in Jade (green) and Serenity (bronze), along with Tina Earnshaw shadow in Aubergine. She closely lined the top and bottom lashes with black eye shadow. A coat of Chanel Inimitable mascara in black finished the look.
Lips: Lucky Jen got a preview of Chanel's forthcoming Aqualumiere Lipshine in Panarea. Get a similar look with a deep rose, creamy lipstick or Chanel's Aqualumiere in Yucatan.

Heidi Klum Spills Her Red-Carpet Beauty Secrets

Even though you and I won't be at the Oscars this weekend, it never hurts to know how to look red-carpet ready. I recently had the chance to chat with the gorgeous Heidi Klum and her team of professionals, including Victoria’s Secret makeup artist Linda Hay, and was able to pick up some great tips and tricks for looking your best at a glamorous event. Heidi also dished about what's in her handbag on the big night and how to photograph like a supermodel, so read on.

How can we cover up blemishes or undereye circles without it looking mask-like?
Linda Hay: My secret to a subtle cover-up starts with a sheer concealer that's one shade lighter than your skin. Apply it directly to the spot and blend with a concealer brush. Add a light sweep of powder to the area and the entire face, but don't pile on too much directly on the spot-otherwise it will look chalky and draw more attention.

Any tips or tricks to help us look more photogenic?
Heidi Klum: Models know how to make their faces look photogenic because they've had a lot of practice. Take a few shots on your digital camera or practice in the mirror to see what looks best. Find the spot where your chin isn't too high and you get a double chin-or too low, and you get a funny, distorted face. But on the red carpet, cameras come at you from all angles and it's impossible to pose perfectly for everyone. So I think you just need to have fun with it-because it shows if you don't!

Which types of products are essential for any evening bag?
Heidi Klum: Evening bags are getting smaller and smaller so I can only fit the bare necessities in my clutch for red carpet touch-ups. I keep Beauty Rush blotting sheets, a Very Sexy powder compact and small blush brush, and the Very Sexy lip gloss or lipstick shade I'm wearing for the evening. I check my makeup about every hour to make sure everything is in place. Then I'll use the blotting sheets, which are great alternatives to powder because you won't wind up with an inch of makeup on by the end of the night. But powder and gloss are equally important to keep your makeup looking fresh and pretty. My super-secret tip is I can't fit the powder compact into a very tiny evening bag, I'll take some shavings of the pressed powder wrapped in a tissue!

Makeup Artist Bruce Grayson Gives Us an Emmys Preview

As head of the makeup department for the Primetime Emmy Awards and Academy Awards telecasts, Bruce Grayson knows a thing or two about covering breakouts, adhering eyelashes, and keeping lipstick off teeth. "TV makeup is different because they are getting you from all angles and you are at the mercy of the lighting, as opposed to a still photo shoot where you control all that," he says. "[For television] they aren't lighting for you, they're lighting for the show."

Not only will he be working his magic on some of his celeb clients, who include Katie Holmes and Hayden Panettiere, Grayson oversees the team that takes care of the casts of the production numbers, the trophy girls, and some presenters. I got the chance to talk to him in the midst of his preparation for Sunday's show.

What do you think we'll see at this year's Emmys?
I think you’re going to see a lot of skin showing because it's September. I think sheerer lipsticks are taking the lead ahead of glosses; on HD, glosses can look too glossy. I think you’re going to see a lot of bronzers, a lot of false eyelashes, and really defined brows.

What is the key to good television makeup?
Less is more. I use a lot of tinted moisturizer, like Olay Definity Color Recapture, which blends into the skin really well and has a glow to it. Glow is like the third dimension for TV. You can create that with highlights and shadow, but a little glow works best with HDTV.

Shimmer can be tricky though, right?
Shimmer in the wrong place can bring out wrinkles. You have to be careful placing a shimmer shadow. If you want to do a really good shimmer eye with real accuracy and you're worried about wrinkles, it's best to use a bone shimmer eye shadow on the lid. Don’t carry it too far on the browbone, where it can get caught in the smile creases around the eye. Stick with a powder - those shimmer sticks are almost like cream sticks. They are going to grab skin, grab lines, and be a little more textured than the powder ones. If you use them, use a brush to apply.

What are the other secrets to red carpet makeup?
Primer underneath makeup. You know how you have that one area of your face where makeup doesn’t want to adhere? Use it there, on the problematic areas. It will adhere to the makeup and give it more lasting power. You can’t control light on the red carpet, you are stuck with whatever and however you’re going to pose and how they got the shot. You want to be simple with eyeshadow, no complicated smoky eyes, simplistic things.

What do you do to touch someone up on the fly?
You have to be good at makeup, it’s all in being pro. You get one chance, and live TV can be the most terrifying of all media! Brow gel, lips - you want to do that checklist. If I travel with a celebrity, I take a look at them and say, "Smile at me, left, right, OK, stop. That’s where you need to powder, that’s where you need to touch up." I like Clean & Clear blotting papers and the ones made by MAC. I usually wrap them around a powder puff or a sponge. That will blot excess shine but leave a glow.

Do celebrities carry their own makeup in their purses on the red carpet?
Blotting papers, translucent powder, lip gloss, and lip liner. My team is on hand and watching for touch-ups. You can’t carry much in a cocktail bag!

How-To: Sandra Bullock's Hair at the Golden Globe Awards

Did you know that Sandra Bullock's loose side bun was created using drugstore products? It goes to show you that it doesn't take a lot of moola to look red carpet fabulous. Most of you gave the thumbs up to her look, and now I've got the scoop on how to recreate Bullock's wavy updo from Tresemmé stylist Jeanie Syfu below:
For protection and shine, blow-dry hair with Tresemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray ($4.49). To create that distinctive "s" wave, curl alternate strands of hair, using an one inch curling iron and a half inch curling iron. When you're through, apply Tresemmé Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème ($4.75) for definition. Next, part hair off to the side, pulling down into a low bun behind the ear. Leave out a few waves for a face framing finish. What a great look for under $10!
