Rosario Dawson's been out in full force recently promoting her latest flick, Seven Pounds. From sleek hair to tucked updos, the actress never seems to go too overboard with her style, but she definitely has a knack for keeping it interesting. Tonight is no exception. Playing up her distinguished features with red lipstick and multi-toned warm eye shadows, Rosario is old-school glamorous with a modern approach. We always seem to see Rosario Dawson with the same big smile on her face, no matter where she is. She's one of my favorite actresses because she comes across as cool and smart - not to mention, she knows how to showcase a lot of versatile looks. These recent ones show how differently placed bangs, waves, even length can really switch up a style . . . I think I'm now thirsting for a new 'do, too. How-To: Fake Short Hair Like Rosario Dawson

I can't say enough about the hairstyle (and gorgeous earrings) we saw on Rosario Dawson at the premiere for Seven Pounds in LA. At first glance, it looked like a chopped change from her recent Lucky cover but, once I zoomed in, I realized it was a nip and tuck.This style's a baby step for commitmentphobes who want a cut, but aren't quiiite there yet. The trick to the illusion of short hair: large hair pins. Taking a mix of the classic pins (the ones that are rigidly straight with ridges) and the ones that look more like a bendy "v", tuck sections of your hair starting with the bottom and loosely layer the top until it's all pinned under.

Back when I chatted with the stylist who created Molly Sims messy updo, he told me that "a girl's necessity is always five long hair pins in the bottom of her purse, just in case." It totally makes sense now – why do with 20 what you can do with five – and, if oversized pins can make me go from long to short without the scissors, then I'm attached to the products below.

Brow Wow! Rosario Dawson Shows Us How It's Done

Rosario Dawson just seems like a cool girl to hang out with, doesn't she? It's rare that you see her without a smile on her face, which is one reason I find her so gorgeous. After seeing this picture of her, I'm convinced she's getting even more beautiful as she gets closer to 30 - and a big part of that has to do with this perfect pair of eyebrows. Makeup artists often talk about how the right eyebrow shape can completely change your appearance, and it's true. A few plucked hairs here, a little gel there, and you can go from scruffy to polished in no time.

Too curved: A few years ago, Rosario was already grooming her eyebrows - but they suffered from a "tadpole" shape that's thicker at the beginning of the brow and curves off into a thin, tapered point. The overall effect makes her look a little surprised.

Too faint: Here, Rosario's eyebrows don't stand out from her (flawless!) skin. While the shape is better, the brows don't frame the eyes as much as they could. If you ever decide to bleach your eyebrows, be careful to stay within a natural shade range. If yours are too light for your skin tone, fill them in with brow powder, which looks more realistic than a brow pencil.

Just right: It looks like Rosario has found the right shape and style of brows to show off her face. Here's why they flatter her so well. The arch is well-defined, opening up the space between her eyes and the brows. She's kept much of the fullness of her brows, but a little trim from the top keeps them looking well-sculpted. Notice, too, that at their fullest part, the brows are brushed upward; about halfway into the brows, they're brushed downward. That's how the brow hairs grow naturally, and they look so much better when you don't fight them. Finally, it looks like Rosario has used a tiny bit of brow powder and gel to set her brows into place. You don't need to do this every day, but for special occasions, it can really add a little polish to your look.

Trend Alert: Faking a Shorter Style

Faking a shorter haircut by means of skillfully placed hair pins is nothing new. In fact, we saw Rosario Dawson do her own faux-crop late last year, followed by Nicole Kidman's asymmetric version. In recent times, the look has taken on resurgence in popularity, as celebrities have been tricking us out with their own adaptations, giving the appearance of freshly cut locks. Kate Beckinsale's full-in-the-front updo gave the illusion of an angled wedge at the Whiteout premiere; both Jennifer Lopez and Elizabeth Banks opted for wavy, tousled styles; and Kristen Stewart faked us out at the VMAs with her memorable faux bowl cut.
