Sarah Jessica Parker Reveals More Details on Covet

This month's issue of Elle features Sarah Jessica Parker and how she's become not just a celebrity, but also a brilliant businesswoman. In the story, SJP talks about Covet, her new fragrance:

"I know this about me: I will only do something that I can completely and utterly, for better or worse, take the credit, take the blame for, 100 percent," she says. Indeed, the bigwigs at Coty seem bemused by just how deeply she plunged herself into her two fragrances-two-year-old Lovely and, new this month, Covet-obsessing over everything from the herringbone-pattern box to the ultraspecific note of geranium in the scent itself ("I like that the plant was pulled from the earth, so you smell all the green of the sand and the dirt, and just a little bit of those petals on the bottom," Parker says).

Covet is starting to roll out into Macy's stores already, but it isn't yet available online. The scent is supposed to be fresh and earthy, but like Sarah Jessica herself, it's in a classy-not-hippie manner. Did you like Lovely? Are you going to buy Covet when it's out? Fab Flash: More on SJP's Bitten Clothing Line

Sarah Jessica Parker may be a lady of luxury, but she wants to bring fabulous clothing to the masses at affordable prices. Since we already know that her clothing line Bitten will be inexpensive (we're talking each article under $20), now we can all dress like SJP!

The collection was named after her reaction to walking into a Steve & Barry’s store for the first time - she was "bitten." She then decided to collaborate with them to create high-quality sportswear for women of all ages and sizes at a fair price.

It has been reported Bitten will make its official debut on June 7th, only at Steve & Barry's stores. The line will consist of approximately 150 styles and over 400 clothing items and accessories such as: knit shirts, wool and cashmere sweaters, dresses, lingerie, denim, handbags, jewelry, belts and of course...shoes!

The tagline for the collection is: "Fashion is not a luxury, it's a right." I'll second that! This is just soooo exciting!

SJP Channels Carrie B. For Her New Fragrance

Can't get enough SATC? You'll like this news, then. Sarah Jessica Parker is launching a new scent, called SJP NYC, in conjunction with the release of Sex and the City 2 next May. And as you might expect given the launch date, SJP says this one is more about her SATC character then it is about her. “A large part of the inspiration was what I now understand to be people’s impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street," she told WWD."We wanted to create a party in a bottle." (I always thought Carrie looked more harried and anxious in the opening than ready to party, but maybe that's just me.)

For those of you interested in hitting the club with this one, the scent is a fruity floral, and the packaging (and low price points-15 ml is $25) makes it seem like it's designed to skew younger. SJP NYC has top notes of Italian mandarin, white osmanthus and strawberries, a big, floral middle with gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa and rose, and a drydown with sandalwood, vanilla, rum, and musk. What do you think? Will this one be a as lovely and coveted as her other two scents, or do the notes suggest Carrie's not nearly as talented a perfumer as SJP?

SJP Opens Up About Beauty in Allure

Sarah Jessica Parker is Allure's February cover girl, and the accompanying feature is direct about SJP's appeal among women: Unlike many Hollywood stars, she hasn't done the requisite nose job and related "tweaking" that's so common today. The interview doesn't shy from examining some potentially uncomfortable territory, such as being named the Unsexiest Woman Alive by the jerks at Maxim. In the story, she opens up about being a nontraditional beauty, and I'm curious as to what you'll have to say about her comments.

On being named the Unsexiest Woman Alive by Maxim:
“My instinct was that it felt personal. It was really about ‘We don’t like her.’ Who were the judges and critics? I would like to ask them, ‘What exactly is it that you personally find not sexy about me? Is it my figure? Is it my brain that bothers you?”

On men who prefer airbrushed women to real ones:
“My impression is that what they find sexy doesn’t make them very interesting or unusual or special. That makes them common.”

On her "unconventional" looks:
“For so long, I didn’t play the object of attention or affection. It wasn’t until LA Story that anyone cast me in a role that had my sexuality as a point of interest or focus or operation. I just wasn’t examined in the same way that a ‘pretty girl’ would be.”

On being asked to change her looks for the industry:
“There were some not-terribly-veiled conversations. Anything from as silly as plucking my eyebrows to getting my nose fixed. Nothing that stayed in my brain for very long.”

Of course, Sarah Jessica has had huge success as an actress and entrepreneur, but I like the fact that she's getting ever-so-slightly political here. She's right - men who expect women to be flawless are not very special. (And she turns it around, too, mentioning that she likes her men with a little natural body odor.) So, I kinda love her more than ever. You?

Wouldja look at Sarah Jessica Parker's new haircolor. She just had it done last night at the Serge Normant salon near her West Village home. It's a big change for her, no? (When Pop showed me the photo, I thought it was Madonna.) Now that SJP has ditched the blond hair, it's probably only a matter of time before legions of women start thinking about being brunettes. Besides her Garnier Commercials a long while back, we haven't seen Sarah Jessica Parker with hair this dark. All of the teasers on PopSugar have me very excited, but a chance to see this hair on the big screen is enough reason for me to have me seriously keyed up in anticipation. I love SJP as a blonde so much that I can hardly believe my eyes at the sight of her hair dyed such a rich brunette. Which color hair do you like better on her?

SJP Covet Is Finally Here!

Everyone can rejoice now that the highly anticipated fragrance Covet from Sarah Jessica Parker is finally in stores! You've heard the buzz and seen the ads, I've just gotten the details on what the actual fragrance smells like. Interested?

It's an extremely seductive blend of wet greens, geranium leaves, sicilian lemon, lavender, chocolate, honeysuckle, magnolia, muguet, michelia yunnanensis (a relative of magnolias), musk, vetiver, bois de cashmere, teakwood and amber. It's not too heady, not too sweet and I think it's actually very wearable for any time of day.

And tell me you're not kvelling over this jeweled top bottle! Talk about style-but would you really expect anything else from SJP? It has been created from weighted glass made to resemble a polished cabochon gem. The neck of the bottle is draped in a gold choker and the cap is a removable halo of smoky topaz rhinestones.

The collection includes a 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum spray ($68), a 1.7 oz Eau de Parfum Spray ($52), a 6.7 oz Body Lotion ($32), a 6.7 fl oz Bath & Shower Gel ($28) and a Solid Parfum Compact ($40). I'm already prepared to commit a sin if anyone should covet my bottle of Covet!

If Sarah Jessica Parker's first perfume, Lovely, was too girly-girl for you, then her latest scent, Covet, will rock your olfactory world. According to reports the scent, made of wet greens, geranium leaves, Sicilian lemon, lavender and chocolate, will hit Macy's in mid-July and will be distributed to other department and specialty stores after August. The actress drew inspiration from her hometown of New York City and knew from the very beginning that she wanted the smell to be more aggressive.

SJP's two fragrances represent the opposite sides of the same woman; Covet, which comes with a jeweled cap and gold herringbone neck, appeals to the saucy, bad girl side. Ladies, tuck away your lovely side for a while and let your ballsy woman roar!

Fab Flash: SJP Is Bitten By The Fashion Bug

Yay, it's official! We have just learned from The Daily that Sarah Jessica Parker is set to launch a clothing line called Bitten. This afternoon she will be hosting a private luncheon at the famed Indochine restaurant in New York City, for an exclusive group of editors to take a sneak peek at her duds.

For those who have been lucky enough to previously view the collection, it is being compared to the fashion line developed by the Olsen twins called The Row.

I am sorry to report that I have no further details about price point, target audience, and manufacturer just yet but I promise to share every bit of information as I learn more.

What better woman, fashion icon and role model to design clothing of her own - this news is actually making me giddy! SJP recently accompanied Alexander McQueen to last year’s Costume Institute gala and she has been a muse to Oscar de la Renta and Narciso Rodriguez. In addition, in 2004, she was awarded the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards.
