Think Ashlee Simpson's laid-back asymmetrical hairstyle or Renée Zellweger's carefree and casual ponytail she wore as a guest on Letterman. Now, Sandra Bullock joined the growing group of disheveled hairstyle wearers, sporting this look at yesterday's All About Steve premiere in LA. How do you feel about Sandra's tossed-back pony? Trend Alert: Blond-Streaked Bangs

Remember that trend a few years ago where chunky blond stripes ruled hairstyles of women across the globe? Well, they're back, staying chunky but looking less skunk-y. During her recent promotional tour for The Proposal, Sandra Bullock has been wearing her long, dark locks with a contrasting honey-blond streak on her fringe. Keri Hilson opts for the hidden placement technique, while Christina Milian goes for the bold with heavily highlighted bangs. By strategically weaving platinum strands under the bangs, the result is a versatile 'do that can be left both textured and funky or sleek and sassy. That, and it makes regrowth all the more subtle. Hooray.

How-To: Sandra Bullock's Tousled and Teased Ponytail

Sandra Bullock is looking mighty fine these days. Did you catch her bright-eyed makeup at the MTV Movie Awards? I'm particularly digging the actress's slightly messy, voluminous ponytail, which she wore to the Los Angeles premiere of her new film, The Proposal. If you'd like to duplicate this fairly simple, stylish look, check out my how-to below for some inspiration:

Create tousled locks by spritzing some Fekkai Marine Beach Waves ($23) on damp hair. Blow dry with a diffuser or let air dry.
If more wave is desired, curl random pieces of hair for added volume.
Part hair on the side and leave out about two inches of hair from the fringe area - you'll be adding it in later. Next, gather hair back into a ponytail just above the occipital bone. Be sure to leave some hair out around your nape.
Next, pull back pieces from your fringe area into the pony. Secure with bobby pins. Focus on keeping the look casual and loose, twisting pieces on the heavy side of the part for a more dramatic effect.
Tease the hair around your nape and randomly pin pieces up into the ponytail. Be creative. Finish off with a some Nick Chavez Volumizing Extra Hold Hair Spray ($23).

It's hard to believe that Sandra Bullock is almost 45 years old, especially because she barely looks older than she did in Speed. It doesn't hurt that Sandra - or, well, her makeup artist - knows how to choose cosmetics that give her a warm, healthy glow. She's totally bright-eyed, and a few bold highlights set off her loosely pulled-back hair. Do you think Sandy looks dandy, or is this not your, uh, speed?

How-To: Sandra Bullock's Hair at the Golden Globe Awards

Did you know that Sandra Bullock's loose side bun was created using drugstore products? It goes to show you that it doesn't take a lot of moola to look red carpet fabulous. Most of you gave the thumbs up to her look, and now I've got the scoop on how to recreate Bullock's wavy updo from Tresemmé stylist Jeanie Syfu below:
For protection and shine, blow-dry hair with Tresemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray ($4.49). To create that distinctive "s" wave, curl alternate strands of hair, using an one inch curling iron and a half inch curling iron. When you're through, apply Tresemmé Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème ($4.75) for definition. Next, part hair off to the side, pulling down into a low bun behind the ear. Leave out a few waves for a face framing finish. What a great look for under $10!

Beautiful Bangs for Your Face Shape, Part II: Square

Welcome back to the second installment of Beautiful Bangs for Your Face Shape. Yesterday we talked about bangs for round faces and today we are looking at the best bang styles for those of you with square faces.

This rare face shape belongs to some seriously sexy A-list stunners such as Katie Holmes, Kate Walsh, Jessica Simpson, Sandra Bullock, Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore, Demi Moore, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Things to keep in mind if you have a square face is that layered bangs that fall to or below your eyebrows are very flattering, especially if they are swept off to the side. Fringey and wispy bangs look great, too, since they will soften the edges of your face shape.

Cuts to avoid are blunt bangs or airy bangs that come to your jawline (a common look for a chin-length bob), as these types of bangs will only cause your face to look sharp-and not in the good way.

In the small town where I grew up, the local beauty pageant was kind of a big deal. Recently, my friend and I were reminiscing about her brief stint in pageant circuitry. While I wasn't one to parade around in a swimsuit and sing showtunes, my friend was all for it. In fact, her talent was belly dancing - and showing off her rock-hard abs.
