SJP Channels Carrie B. For Her New Fragrance

Can't get enough SATC? You'll like this news, then. Sarah Jessica Parker is launching a new scent, called SJP NYC, in conjunction with the release of Sex and the City 2 next May. And as you might expect given the launch date, SJP says this one is more about her SATC character then it is about her. “A large part of the inspiration was what I now understand to be people’s impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street," she told WWD."We wanted to create a party in a bottle." (I always thought Carrie looked more harried and anxious in the opening than ready to party, but maybe that's just me.)

For those of you interested in hitting the club with this one, the scent is a fruity floral, and the packaging (and low price points-15 ml is $25) makes it seem like it's designed to skew younger. SJP NYC has top notes of Italian mandarin, white osmanthus and strawberries, a big, floral middle with gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa and rose, and a drydown with sandalwood, vanilla, rum, and musk. What do you think? Will this one be a as lovely and coveted as her other two scents, or do the notes suggest Carrie's not nearly as talented a perfumer as SJP?

Over the past few weeks, we've seen images from the Sex and the City 2 set pouring in. While these photos include shots of the four friends dressed in the designer duds we've grown to love, we've also had a peek at some wilder looking '80s getups worn by the characters portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Kim Cattrall. We'll just have to wait until the movie comes out next year to find out the reasoning behind their Reagan-era hair and makeup. We all know that Sarah Jessica Parker has a head full of curly hair, and tonight, she's sporting a more refined version of her wavy locks. Her color seems to be a bit darker overall, with touches of a copper-blond hue interlaced throughout.

Sarah Jessica sure has a knack for making those blue eyes pop, accentuating them with black liner and smoky gray shadows. Simple pink blush and lipstick finish it all off. What do you think of her bodacious look?

Sarah Jessica Parker Is About to Get More Lovely

The Sarah Jessica Parker fragrance empire is expanding. Her first scent, Lovely, was an enormous success that led to a complex scent called Covet. That one is no longer in most stores, and she's still working on a genderless scent. But beginning in February, she'll extend the Lovely line to include three new scents based on the concept of time: Dawn, Endless, and Twilight (no relation to the vampire series of the same name).

“Dawn is the fresh and clean scent,” Parker told WWD. “Its inspiration was morning, sunrise. It’s about enjoying those few moments for yourself, stepping out and welcoming what the day has to bring your way. Endless is the fruity, floral scent. The inspiration for this one was those moments you find yourself in a state of pure happiness, loving life. And Twilight is the sexy, musky scent. This one is for those moments of intimacy, of love, and being close. It’s slightly complex and mysterious.”

Known as The Lovely Collection, the scents will be available in February, launching on HSN and then moving to Ulta and other stores. Each one will be available as an eau de parfum ($38–$58) and a body lotion ($28), and each will receive its own marketing and advertising push. Will SJP be able to pull off another fragrance success? In this economy, nothing is certain - but her track record is pretty solid.

Sarah Jessica's Covet Goes Missing From Macy's

Here's a strange development: On Saturday, I went to Macy's to check out some fragrances. All of the celebrity scents were in one kiosk, and Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely was among the most prominent - but where was her newer scent, Covet? Last year there was a ton of buzz (and one odd commercial) for Covet, but the green-tinted bottle was nowhere to be found. Instead, it had been replaced by Covet Pure Bloom, a more floral take in much more attractive lavender packaging.

In the fragrance biz, these sister scents are called flankers, but it's unusual to have one without the original. After asking around and doing a little sleuthing, I found out that the original Covet is no longer carried at Macy's (or at Nordstrom, for that matter). It's not completely surprising; it's a riskier scent than SJP's Lovely, and although I like it, it might not translate well for everyone. But if you love Covet, don't despair; the scent isn't being discontinued, and you can shop online. Better yet, take a peek at TJ Maxx or Marshall's, the latter of which was selling Covet for as little as $24.99. Between this perfume letdown, the end of her Bitten line, and the cheating rumors, SJP isn't exactly having the best summer - but at least that genderless fragrance she's working on is a bright spot.

Celebrities spend so much time in the hair and makeup chair that they become super-duper close to their clientele. Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox pal around together with friend and hairstylist Chris McMillan often, and Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves are best friends! I'm not that close to my hairdresser, but I do love him.

To Mole or Not To Mole? That Is the Question

One of my good friends recently got braces to correct a slight gap in his front teeth. When I saw the braces the first thing I asked was, "Why would you do that?" From my perspective, I've always found his flawed smile an endearing and signature part of his character (similar to how I feel about Lauren Hutton's or Madonna's tooth-gap).

It goes without saying that I feel similarly about Sarah Jessica Parker's chin mole, which she just had removed for cosmetic and not medical reasons. I'm all for freedom of choice, but if she were a friend of mine, I'd have told her to rock that mole indefinitely. Where do you stand on the issue? Are small flaws beautiful or would you "fix" them too?
