How-To: Selita Ebanks's "Breaking the Rules" Makeup

Of course model Selita Ebanks is stunning, but at an event for the Whitney museum last night, she really amped up the drama. As we learned earlier, "breaking the rules" by using warm tones with cool ones creates a fresh, fun style. Notice how Selita's cool smoky bluish-green shadow and cinnamon red lips create an stunning appearance. Like this multihued look? Eyes: After lining both the top and bottom lash lines with a black eyeliner, apply a smoky green shadow to the lids, extending to the outer one-third of the crease. Next, smudge under the entire lower lash line for a cohesive look. Try Bare Escentuals Eye Color in Mermaid ($13). Finish of by adding a sparkly greenish-yellow shadow to the inner V. Trend Alert: Purple Peepers

First it's purple hair and now I'm talking purple eyes. Purple is one of those versatile shades that can be bright, playful, sultry, and subtle, depending on the finish and depth of color. Purple also makes green eyes pop, brown eyes brighter, and gives blue eyes a cool iciness. Katie Holmes, Kate Hudson, and Emmy Rossum opted for and soft lilac tone for a lightening effect; Audrina Patridge went for sexy, heavily-lined eyes with plum accents; and January Jones and Selita Ebanks spiced their looks up with multitoned colors. Models Selita Ebanks and Noemie Lenoir (left to right) both looked beautiful at the recent premiere of Hotel Gramercy Park. I've chatted with both models before - Selita loves sports and Noemie turns out to be a bit of a romantic. And now I've got the scoop on what they used to get these movie-premiere looks. As a face of L'Oreal, Noemie uses plenty of products from this brand. She's a fan of L’Oreal Glam Shine Lipgloss in Princess & Prima Donna, and L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara. “Every morning and night I use the L’Oreal Normal Skincare Regimen," she says. "It includes Visibly Clean Foaming Creme Scrub Cleanser and Skin Renewing Toner, then I finish off with the Daily Moisture Lotion.”

Selita, a Victoria's Secret Angel, was minimal with her makeup for the premiere. She used Very Sexy Eyeliner in black velvet highlighted along her lids and the Very Sexy Mosaic eye shadow in Sultry for a naturally dark tint. Very Sexy lip gloss in Wet - her favorite shade - was slicked on her lips. She also used Very Sexy Mosaic Bronzer to even out the tones in her face and neck. To get her loose, tousled hairstyle, she curled it and then ran Victoria’s Secret So Sexy Shine Serum through to make it look shiny.

Model of the Week: Selita Ebanks

Here's a bit of history about the beautiful Selita Ebanks, who was born in the Cayman Islands. Since she comes from a family of seven brothers, she played a lot of sports growing up. These days, she's a fan of basketball, football and tennis.

Her family did not have very much money when she was growing up; she often did not even have shoes to wear to school. Eventually, Selita moved to the US and by the age of 17, she began modeling. (She was discovered at an amusement park in New Jersey.)

You may recognize her from her magazine layouts in Glamour, Marie Claire, Vogue and Nylon. She has also signed ad campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Levis. In 2005 she was chosen to become a Victoria's Secret Angel. She also made a TV appearance on Tyra that year, when retiring model Tyra passed on her Victoria's Secret wings to Selita.

When I met her I was stunned by her engaging beauty. She has extremely warm eyes and a show-stopping smile. To read the interview, read more.

What is your secret to beautiful skin?
Don't over-cleanse the skin; you've got to let it breathe naturally.

What is the one product that you can't live without?
Ooooh, my Very Sexy Lip Gloss in Wet, $12. It's really shiny and I love the color.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Shoes. Shoes with a great push-up bra!

What is your favorite drugstore product?
I buy all of my products at Victoria's Secret Beauty because they have hundreds of beauty products online and in their stores. What more do you need?

Happiness is...
Being secure with myself. Being able to walk on a runway in lingerie and feel good about the way I look and feel good about the person that I am.

Victoria's Secret Launches Secret Embrace and BellaSugar Was There!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend the exciting Victoria’s Secret launch for their Five New Secret Embrace Bras. The event took place at the huge two-floor VS store in NYC where four of the gorgeous Victoria's Secret Angels, Karolina Kurkova, Alessandra Ambrosio, Izabel Goulart, and Selita Ebanks, were in attendance.

Not only did I get to meet the models, but also I was able to speak with each of them one on one. Talk about nerve racking! However, once I got started I realized that I had no reason to be intimidated - these women were nothing but sweet, articulate and professional.

The event began with a photo op of the models in their designated colors followed by a move upstairs where interviews and autograph signings took place. It ended with a song, strawberry cake and champagne, in celebration of Karolina Kurkova's birthday.

The bras range in price from $42-$51 and after feeling them, I can't wait to get one. You may remember me mentioning it in my recent post about Oscars swag, but if not, they are one single piece of fabric that is: seam free, tag free and stitch free. When they are on, they look and feel invisible.

The bras are currently available in stores and online in an assortment of Spring colors in sizes 32A-38DD, depending on style and color.

How-To: Marion Cotillard's Warm and Cool Makeup

Marion Cotillard, who's been in the spotlight as of late promoting her film, Public Enemies, is a vision of French sophistication. And her look at Christian Dior's Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture show earlier today was no exception. Recently, model Selita Ebanks broke the rules by pairing cool eyes with a warm lip, and now, in ultrachic fashion, it's Marion's turn.

This time the look couples a warm gold shadow with a cool blue-based red lipstick. We all know that gold and bronzy tones make blue eyes pop. Add some dark, Marilyn-esque waves to the mix, and it's chic with a French twist. Find out my tips for achieving this look after the jump

Bella Interview: Johnny Wright, Hairstylist

Get ready to know the name Johnny Wright. A stylist at Frederic Fekkai, he's worked with famous beauties such as Anita Baker, Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams, Selita Ebanks - and one very high-profile client, Michelle Obama. I'll share some of his easy hair tips later this week, but for now, read on to find out what's behind Michelle's style.

How did you start working with Michelle Obama?
It kind of happened on a whim, and I’ve been doing her hair now for a year. My agent out in New York booked me for her Ebony magazine shoot, and she liked it so much that she had her people book me. I actually just got a call today from her saying I’m booked with her for August a whole week - I’m going to do her hair in Denver.

Denver! Denver is important.
You know, I was very nervous with that particular booking. I was highly screened before I was even allowed to walk into her room - and I totally understand that. Whatever it took for me to be booked with her, she is a very normal person. She has two young children, and I think that her staying normal keeps them normal too. It’s just great working with her. She’s never picky; she never asks me for things I probably can’t do. She’s very understanding.

I met Senator Obama a few years ago and he was down-to-earth as well.
You know, I’ve been doing hair since I was 12 years old and I never thought that I would be in that type of world. Before this, I didn’t do anything about politics. I look at it as a blessing, because I pay attention much more now. I feel like I’m much more educated on how things go just from being with her and following the campaign.

Do you have any tips for recreating her signature hairstyle at home?
It’s pretty simple. The foundation of any hairstyle is the cut. That’s one thing we focus on doing very well here at Fekkai. With that, I am able to switch the hair into like maybe two, three different looks. We try not to give her too many different variations. People want to see her with the same style, especially when it comes to politics; there’s a lot of scrutiny when you’re in that arena.

I say go back to basics and just keep it simple. Sometimes I flat-iron her hair under, or I use a ceramic curling iron to flip it out at the ends a little bit. With a flat iron she’s going to be able to lock the moisture in the hair. Because she has to get her hair done so often, the flat iron is probably the best tool for her. For an updo, I might do some cascading curls according to how formal the event she’s attending is, but mostly I give her a clean sweep up.

Also, to keep her hair moisturized, I use the Shea Butter conditioner from Fekkai and Glossing Cream. It really keeps the hair moisturized. And Fekkai Coiff Anti-Frizz creme is excellent for that. It's probably one of my favorite products.

BellaSugar's Insider Look Into Celebrity Makeup Bags: Veronica Webb

We just found out the contents of Noemie Lenoir's and Selita Ebanks' makeup bags, and now I've got insight into what cosmetics supermodel Veronica Webb can't live without. On Tuesday evening, Veronica auctioned off pieces from her jewelry collection at an event (sponsored by Lancôme) to benefit her charity The Macedonia Fund. Veronica started the fund a year ago in memory of her mother; it helps disadvantaged children attend the Key West Montessori School for free. Not only am I pleased to see her using her celebrity for a good cause (now that's model behavior), but I also learned about her favorite beauty products.

My initial instinct is that she had some type of affiliation with Lancôme, but actually, she doesn't. A makeup artist simply turned her onto a few treats and now she's smitten. If you want to know what they are (and they're not all Lancôme, either), read more.

This line of bath and body products is an old cult favorite that feels great on your skin and smells amazing. In fact, VS sells over 68 million products annually! There's a new scent involved in the re-launch, too; it's called Blossoming Romance. Excited yet?

The Secret Garden collection is made up of ten fruity, floral and spicy scents in eight different botanically-based formulas to soften, smooth, and pamper your skin.
