Alicia Keys never fails to look gorgeous on the red carpet, but she's also not afraid of strong choices, either. Tonight, she went decidedly retro (peep those earrings!) with blue eye shadow and a complex, old-fashioned updo that looked like it could very well have been worn by Lena Horne or one of the Andrews sisters. Kid Sister Loves Pro Nails

Lil' Mama had a Summer hit with "Lip Gloss," and now another member of the hip-hop family is singing the praises of her favorite beauty habit. Kid Sister, a rapper from Chicago, just debuted her video, "Pro Nails." It's all about having fancy, decorated nails and dealing with the jealousy that ensues. (Because, you know, people get jealous about these things.)

When you're raised around the family business, it only makes sense that you'd follow suit. And for Cristina Samuels and Jennifer Isaac, doing so has been a beautiful endeavor. From the time they were girls, they learned by watching their father, a cosmetic-industry veteran. Now, they're the co-founders and co-owners of Mode Cosmetics, a line of cruelty-free (and reasonably priced!) makeup made in New York.

The Hills Beauty Quiz: Episode 5, "Sorry Boo, Strike Two"

Last night's episode of The Hills was all about disagreeing couples. On one end, per usual, we had Brody and Jayde quarreling at Kristin's beach house party. Could it be that Brody still has a thing for his ex, Kristin? On the other end, we saw Justin playing mind games with Kristin, as he jokingly texts that he wouldn't be able to make it to her party, even though he eventually shows up. One more strike, buddy, and you're in trouble. In the meantime, over at Heidi's house, Mrs. Pratt and ironically, Stephanie, who was recently arrested for a DUI, cornered Holly about her drinking problem. Thanks to her dance moves and affinity for Jack and Cokes, we might just see the older of the Montag sisters headed off to rehab.

Much like Penelope Cruz, I've got a sister who's a total knockout. She's taller, thinner, her smile is brighter and she's naturally blonde. I've always loved having such a pretty role model in my life, but I'm no saint.

Things are good now, but there was definitely a time when I was a little bit jealous that she never had to dye her roots. I'd buy cooler hair scrunchies and better lip gloss than her just to make myself feel good. What about you? Are you competitive with your siblings when it comes to your looks?

Witchy Makeup Ideas: Teen Witch

Have you seen Teen Witch? If not, I suggest you do so, merely to see the fabulous rap scene of teenage angst circa 1989. The flick stars Blake Lively's older sister Robyn Lively as Louise Miller, a teenage descendant of witches from Salem. Over the past few weeks, I've been featuring all sorts of witchy ideas for the Halloween season, so to conclude the series, here are a few tips on achieving Louise's Teen Witch look.

Much as the look for Sabrina, the Teenage Witch is '90s all the way, this look is totally '80s. All you need is a long ginger-red wig with bangs. (Cut them down if you have to.) For the ultimate wow factor, create claw bangs on the style by setting the fringe with some self-grip, nonthermal rollers. Once you've achieved the perfect rolls, clip your teased locks back on the sides with a large barrette, and wear frosty makeup. For special touches, include a witch's broomstick accessory and a triangular necklace with swirly blue detailing, which helps give Louise her special powers.
