Do You Think Botox Is Common Among People Your Age?

Botox, typically reserved for the slightly older crowd seeking out a way to soften fine lines and wrinkles, is being called the latest trend women for in their 20s - even becoming just as common as hair coloring, estimates Dr. Gabrielle Caswell of the Cosmetic Physicians Society. A recent survey by the BBC found that the number of 30-or-younger women customers increased twofold over the past few years.

I know a few women in their 20s who've tried Botox, but the vast majority of my friends have not. Do you think that Botox is as common among your peer group as this data suggests? Or is this trend piece reaching?

Are You Paranoid About Your Less-Than-Perfect Pedi?

When you peek at your feet, what do you think? Are you dazzled by your perfectly filed toenails and softer-than-soft heels, or are you none too thrilled with their less than impeccable looks? As this article in The New York Times points out, often, women take way better care of their faces than their tootsies.

According to a recent study from the American Podiatric Medical Association, 50 percent of women surveyed were "always, frequently, or sometimes" embarrassed by the appearance of their feet. In fact, there are several Facebook groups devoted to feet bashing, and pedicurists note that customers are often apologetic for the way their feet look. See both sides of the story now.

Do You Carry Less Makeup as You Get Older?

Got that makeup bag handy? If so, take a peek inside and tally up the total price of all your beauty goodies. Are you surprised by the amount? (I was.) Even for low-maintenance beauties, it seems to be common to carry at least something in the ol' purse.

According to a survey of more than 1,000 women in the UK, not only are people still spending big bucks on beauty, but women spend differently depending on their age. While women 25 to 34 carried about $116 of makeup, those in the over-55 category carried less than $57 worth.

I'm betting a single pricey compact and a lipstick equal more than a bag full of the junk I toted around when I was a teen (and I've totally been weaning my purse supply from college to now). How has your makeup bag changed over the years, and do the products' prices still add up?

More Men May Be Opening Their Eyes to Makeup

As the saying goes, put your best face forward - but does a best face always include makeup . . . even for men? Well, the findings of a recent survey show that more than 80 percent of Korean men think that looking "tidy" gives their performance an extra boost in the workplace.

We've heard of women encountering not-so-pretty beauty issues with employers, but there's still a difference between a fresh face, and one full of makeup. The study goes on to say that, while the majority of the men purchased lotion and toner most frequently, guys are becoming more beauty-conscious by picking up items like shine-reduction powders and blemish correctors.

It seems to be a growing trend in several countries that many males are taking a less macho approach to beauty. Have you noticed grooming changes with the men in your life?

Six Risk Factors That Increase Your Chance of Developing a Melanoma

Have you ever had a sunburn so extreme that it blistered? Take caution. You could be at least three times more likely to develop a melonoma. A recent study, conducted by the melanoma screening service MoleMap by Dermatologists, identified six risk factors that could pose possible warning signs. Here they are:

Natural red or blond hair.
Freckling located on the upper back area.
A history of melanoma within your family.
Teenage sunburns that resulted in blisters.
Summer jobs outdoors that lasted for three or more years during your teenage years.
Tendency to get scaly patches of skin on areas of the skin that have received sun exposure.

If one of these statements is true for you, then you are three times more likely to develop a melanoma. However, you are 10 times more at risk if two or more of these circumstances apply to you. If you're concerned, heed the advice of MoleMap director Dr. Martin Haskett. "It is important to note that although most of the questions in the survey related to sun exposure, once the risk factors are present a malanoma can appear at any time of year and in non sun-exposed body sites," he says. "This means people need to check their skin year-round and medical surveillance programs for those at highest risk."
