Taylor Swift chose a soft and romantic look for tonight's MTV Video Music Awards. Her hair looks like what you'd expect to see on a bride on her wedding day. Yes, it might be a little too formal for this occasion, but given her age and her innocence, I think it works well on Taylor. She vamps it up a bit with the makeup, especially with her strong red lip and green-tinted eyes. Are you liking this star's look, or is it a little too country on a night of rock and roll?

2009 Grammy Awards: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift shows off a grown-up Grammy look with elegantly pinned hair and eyeliner extending dramatically past the edge. I'm loving her lip color and the way her sparkly earrings stand out amidst her waves.

She'll be performing tonight with her pal, Miley Cyrus (who chose a more youthful style tonight), and I'm wondering how their styles will complement onstage. Back to Taylor, though. While I think she seems rather polished, could this look too mature for her 19 years?

2008 American Music Awards: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is about to turn 19 in a few weeks, and it's nice to see her become a young woman in such a graceful way. Like Miley Cyrus, she hits the red carpet looking young but sophisticated - a good game plan, don't you think?

Her icy-eyed look is almost identical to her Grammys hair and makeup, and come to think of it, it's close to last year's American Music Awards look. Is she on to a good thing, or do you crave variety from her?

Love It or Hate It? Taylor Swift's MTV VMAs Look

I would have loved to see Taylor Swift do something a little more interesting with her hair and makeup, but the multiple costume changes she's pulling as pre-show fashion correspondent, guest and nominee might have made that a challenge. The winged black eyeliner is pretty, but I can't take my eyes off her perfect skin. If only my skin behaved so well at 18! Do you guys think her look is too safe, or do you love it?

Whose Low Side Ponytail Do You Like Better?

Last night at Hollywood Life magazine's 10^th Annual Young Hollywood Awards, country singer Taylor Swift and reality star Adrienne Curry both arrived with low-slung side ponytails. This variation of the side updo, a popular look from the 2007 Emmy Awards, is a little more youthful and relaxed. Taylor's hair is longer so it cascades down her shoulder while Adrienne's sits neatly on top. Which look do you like better?

How-To: Taylor Swift's Icy Eyes

Last night at the 50th Grammy Awards, country singer-songwriter Taylor Swift walked the red carpet with icy eye shadow to accentuate her slate-blue eye color. The rest of her face was smooth, pale, and flawless with a sweet hint of baby-doll pink color on her lips and cheeks.

Step 1: Begin by applying a primer to your lids. Spread it evenly in a thin layer and let it sit for about a minute. I like the way Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Shadow Base leaves lids smooth and absorbs any extra oil. This is a great way to ensure that your shadow lasts all night without creasing. Then, take your favorite champagne shadow and blend a little bit from the base of your lids all the way up to your brow bone.
Step 2: Next, with a small, tapered shadow brush, apply a pale, shimmery silver-blue shadow such as the light blue shade in the Nars South Pacific Duo to the inner half of your lower lid, making sure the shadow is well below your crease line. Use the same color on the inner V of your eye and bring it all the way down creating a line to the middle of your lower rim.
Step 3: Then, apply deeper blue shade such as MAC Eye Shadow in Tilt to the other side of your lid, making a V shape from the base into the crease. Using a clean brush and a windshield wiping motion, blend the shadows together.
Step 4: Lastly, line your upper lashes and the outside edges of your lower lashes with a light navy shadow such as Midnight Blackberry by Terry. Apply false lash pieces like these Corner Faux Eyelashes from Laura Mercier to make your eyes look wider. Apply two coats of black mascara as a finishing touch.

Love It or Hate It? Taylor Swift's American Music Awards Look

Country star Taylor Swift is a teenager, but she's looking quite grown-up at the American Music Awards. I love seeing a curly-haired girl embrace her natural waves, and since she's so young, pulling off ice-blue metallic eyeliner is easy-peasy. I'm just not sure if the wavy hair and the eyeliner and the detailed neckline is too much all at once. Maybe it is, but then again, Taylor's 17-and if anyone can pull off a hodgepodge of styles, it's someone her age. What do you think?

Beyoncé Gets Her Own Fragrance - Think Kanye's Excited?

WWD is reporting that next Spring, we'll all be able to smell like Beyoncé because the pop star just signed a deal with Coty for her own fragrance. "For me," Beyoncé said about the new scent, "fragrance reflects a woman’s attitude and unique sense of style. While I love various perfumes, I haven’t found a scent that truly personifies me as a woman. Working with Coty, I was able to turn my ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance, one that’s reflective of my inner power." No word yet on what the notes of that inner power might be, but if they're anything like most other celebrity fragrances, the scent will be sweet and floral. Then again, Beyoncé's got a fierce sense of doing things the right way (bringing Taylor Swift onstage to finish her speech, for example), so this scent may very well be as unique and eclectic as her music. Celebrity fragrance sales are down, but will you be on the hunt for this one come next year anyway?

Trend Alert: Asymmetric Hair at the American Music Awards

Last night's looks from the American Music Awards were very much your standard red carpet fare - wavy curls from the likes of Taylor Swift and Christina Aguilera or loose updos à la Miley Cyrus. Pretty? Yes. Daring? Not really. However, there were a few ladies that lived up to a more rock-and-roll style. Ashley Tisdale wasn't quite as edgy, but her twisted side ponytail was different and chic, while the others played up short asymmetric styles. Rihanna curled it up, Natasha Bedingfield pieced it out, and Pink did a little of both. I'm liking this slightly off-kilter look - it is the music biz, after all.
