Coming Soon: Burberry Gets Ready To Launch The Beat

I don't quite know all of the details yet, but from what I understand, Burberry is getting ready to launch its sixth fragrance called The Beat in March. The scent is said to be a woodsy, sparkling and tea-infused (how very English!) juice created by Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge and Beatrice Piquet.

It contains notes of iris, bluebell, ceylon tea, bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper, mandarin, vetiver, white musk and cedarwood - and to give you an idea of the pretense under which it was born, the perfumers were given modern rock music for inspiration.

Perhaps that's why the Fratellis played at the December 3rd launch party in London! The face of the fragrance is Britain's most up-and-coming model, Agyness Deyn, and I love how her rocker look plays into the theme.

The Beat is an eau de parfum, and will be available in three sizes: 30 ml ($50), 50 ml ($62) and 75 ml ($80). Additional bath products such as a 40 ml elixir ($130), a body lotion ($39.50) and a shower gel ($35) will also be available. I'm looking forward to checking this out, because Burberry is definitely ramping up its cool quotient with this one.

Throughout the past few days, I've been bringing you witchy how-tos, from Wicked's Elphaba to The Chronicle of Narnia's White Witch, and now let's get in on the Harry Potter action, with everyone's favorite quirky, kind-hearted witch, Luna Lovegood. With lofty physical characteristics, such as silvery-gray-toned eyes, waist-length dirty blond hair, slight brows, and a dreamy look in her eyes, Luna's often perceived as strange - even a bit loony - to those around her.

To get her unique look, wear light contacts, a pink cheek and lip stain, along with one seriously long, slightly disheveled blond wig. Finish off your costume with some radish earrings, a Ravenclaw scarf or tie, or butterbeer necklace. An optimistic, matter-of-fact disposition will make you truly authentic. For some extra magic, march to the beat of a different drummer with a pair of her distinctive pink glasses. Who knows what you'll see.

Clinique is endlessly coming out with new products, many of them seasonal. That's why I'm always glad when readers write in to review new releases they've just tried, like this Clinique Vitamin C Lip Smoothie ($17.50). I liked it, but did reader Laratf feel the same way? I am in love! Absolute Acai is amazing. It's almost like liquid Black Honey (which Clinique attempted with their Superbalm, but executed poorly in my opinion). This gloss beats Stila Lip Glaze in its staying power, plus the pigments are too gorgeous. Every color is wearable and just stays on the lips beautifully. I am a big fan, and definitely see this becoming one of my new beauty staples that sticks throughout the seasons.

The other day, while finally cleaning out my closet, I discovered many things about my style over the past few years. Some of them questionable - is pleather ever really a good idea? - and one of them being that my barely used, decade-old set of hot rollers could use a little love. I'm not sure why it's been so long since I've busted out this reliable old-school styling tool, but maybe I should. They are, after all, amazing for creating lots of volume and twisted textures, and you can't beat flattering curls with minimal effort. Follow This Easy Tip to Beat Backne

At the risk of heading into TMI territory, I've been breaking out on the backs of my shoulders lately. Nothing crazy, but enough to notice when I wear a sundress. At first, I couldn't figure out what was behind this bout of backne - after all, I wasn't breaking out elsewhere, and if anything, my skin has been dry rather than oily.

Ah, but then I spotted the culprit: a new conditioner. While it was doing wonders for my hair, it wound up leaving a film on my shoulders after rinsing. Rather than give up my conditioner, I just switched the order in which I clean myself. It used to be "scrub body first, then deal with hair," but now it's the opposite. The result: no more back bumps.
