How To: Rachel's Relaxed Makeup from "The OC"

All week, FabSugar is paying tribute to the fashion of "The OC," so I thought I'd join the party with a few posts about the notable hair and beauty looks featured on the indulgent SoCal teen drama.

On Monday, I told you how to get Mischa Barton hair, and today, we'll be learning how to recreate Rachel Bilson's relaxed makeup look. Face: Badass Bilson is all about a clean-looking face. To look youthful and not overly made up, all you'll need is a bit of concealer and a tinted moisturizer with SPF.
Cheeks: To re-create her sun kissed look, I would start with a basic bronzer and then add a peachy cream blush to the apples of your cheeks.
Eyes: If you look closely, you'll notice that there are two different shadows on Bilson's eyes: a highlighter and a mocha brown color. Try Stila Eye Shadow Pan in Puck, which can be worn lightly during the day and layered for evening for a more dramatic effect.
Next, line your upper lashes only with a deep brown eye pencil, like Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Special Brown. Lastly, use one coat of black lengthening mascara for definition.
Brows: See how Bilson's brows are the stand-out feature in the natural look? It's imperative to get a brow shaping a few times a year to keep your face properly framed. If you have light brows, use Anastasia Brow Powder Duo on Ash Blonde or Medium Ash to fill them in. Just go easy: The goal of this look is to make it look effortless.
Lips: Her lips look naturally pink, light, and sheer. As you know I am a huge fan of Lipstick Queen's Oxymoron Lip Gloss, and this matte formula is a perfect choice for this look.

How To: Mischa Barton's "O.C." Soft Waves

This week, FabSugar is paying tribute to the trendsetting fashion of "The OC," so I thought I'd join the party with a few posts about the notable hair and beauty looks featured on the indulgent SoCal teen drama. With their side ponytails, long locks, and flawlessly fresh makeup, the "OC" girls always managed to look pulled together and cutting edge.

First up: Mischa Barton's soft wavy style from the show's first season. Not only is Barton blessed with a hell of a body and a gorgeous face, but she's also got great hair: It's not too flat or too curly, and it looks great long whether it's styled wavy or straight.

Shampoo and condition your hair like usual and then towel dry. Brush hair, set your part, and work a small palm-full of volumizing mousse like Kerastase Mousse Volumactive from the roots to the ends.
Blow dry your hair straight so that the cuticles are nice and smooth. Next, section your hair into about eight even parts and secure them with hair clips.
Beginning with undermost layers, take a large barreled curling iron (about 1-1/4-inch) and set it on medium to low heat. Don't open the curling iron - you will get frayed and harsh ends - but instead, wrap your section of hair around the barrel and let it sit for about seven seconds. Repeat this for each section.
When you are finished, you will be left with ringlets. You'll be temped to brush your hair out, but don't! Instead, flip your head over, shake out your hair, flip it back, and gently finger the curls to relax them into waves.
Reset your part gently and then use a light- to medium-hold hairspray to set your hair. If you have bangs, your can brush them lightly to one side so that they blend into the waves, and then spray that area a little bit more heavily than the rest of your hair.

Love It or Hate It? Olivia Wilde's Teen Choice Awards Look

Olivia Wilde is in the House! And even though she walked the red carpet tonight with brunette hair - over your preferred blonde - she still looks gorgeous. She put those brown locks into a disheveled updo with curly flyaways, which is just perfect for these particular awards. But what I'm focusing on is her skin, which looks like it's been kissed by the OC gods. Her makeup is pretty minimal with a pink pout; that looks to be the identical shade used on her cheeks, paired with a more smoky eye. I'm loving it, you?

Which Hair Color Do You Like Best on Autumn Reeser?

I'm used to seeing her with shiny and long light brown hair - nothing like this darker, more mature enriched shade of red (although I have to admit, it's not half bad on her). Which Hair Color Do You Like Best on Olivia Wilde?

Former OC actress Olivia Wilde arrived at the premiere for the play Red Dog Howls with hair dyed a light brownish-reddish shade. Last year, Olivia's hair was jet black; the year before, she was a blonde. I think her beautiful bone structure and creamy pale skin make her a timeless beauty, but I like her best as a blonde. How about you?

Love It or Hate It? Rachel Bilson's Thin Braid-Band

Yesterday, Rachel Bilson did some shopping in Los Angeles with her hair styled in a low ponytail with a thin braid wrapped from ear to ear. This is a new take on the braid-band, as I like to call it. It's thinner and much more delicate than the hippie braid or the summer braid. Funny, isn't it, because Summer was actually Rachel's character's name on The OC - ahh, I really do kill myself sometimes. Do you like this look, and do you think you'd wear it?

Rachel Bilson is moving further and further away from the cute girl-next-door style she had as Summer on The OC. At the premiere of her new movie, Jumper, she chose a grown-up, sultry look. If you've shopped at Barneys New York, you've probably seen the line of home candles ($46), which burn for 60 hours. I have one and find that to spread the scent to my apartment, I only need to leave it burning for 20 minutes or so. The rest of the Apothia Collection consists of aromatic diffusers ($78), eau de parfum ($30–$75), body wash ($28) and body lotion ($30). These are the available scents, but note that not all of them are available in all forms.

VELVET ROPE is inspired by a dry martini, spiked with notes of vanilla, jasmine and grapefruit. (I have this in a candle, and my guy friends always ask about the smell.) It's available as a candle and in the body care/personal fragrance line.
IF is more distinctly feminine. It's largely a citrus scent, but it builds to a floral, then finishes with musk. It's available only in the body care/personal fragrance line.
L is for all my Sapphic girls out there. Inspired by The L Word, it's something of an earthy scent, with notes of green violet leaf and woods. It's not available as a candle, but it's available as a fragrance.

PLUSH is made from citrus notes of mandarin, lime and pomelo.
WAVE is symbolic of a morning at the beach, smelling of driftwood, flowers, sea grass, white grapefruit, mandarin and yuzu.
SCENE is the ultimate urban guilty pleasure. Think glittering lights and sexy flashes of skin. This scent is made from fig, juniper berry and pear nectar.
CHRISMUKKAH reminds me of the OC! It smells of fresh green fir, clove, and ocean air.
SPIRITUAL is meant to be calming and peaceful, with hippie-chic notes of patchouli, amber, sandalwood, green mint and basil.
SOUL sounds really sexy to me. It has notes of African ginger, mahogany, Taboti wood and Grains of Paradise.
JUICED is all about health. This fresh scent is energizing, with notes of sparkling red currant, geranium and tomato leaf.
BRONZED is the perfect name for an LA fragrance, yes?Orange flower, petitgrain, bergamot and jasmine make up this scent.
CASA is something I'll have to tell, uh, Casa about. It is made from Casablanca lilies, newly cut grass, and fresh air.
