Potential nerd alert: recently, I have become rather captivated with time travel movies. What's not to love? The main characters make some kind of fantastical journey through time, typically to make things right. I think it was Back to the Future that started my fixation with this film genre, with perhaps a bit of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure thrown into the mix.

Just as these types of movies have some pretty whimsical names, so do nail polish shades, like Nicole by OPI's chuckle-worthy Black to the Future ($7). So let's go back in time to see if you can distinguish between the two: is it a time travel flick or nail polish shade?

Do you know your film noir, doll? This cinematic genre often starred alluring actresses such as Veronica Lake, Rita Hayworth, and Ava Gardner. Common features of these types of films include a highly stylized appearance of both the characters and scenery, a crime, and some sort of dramatic, sexual undertone in the backdrop - think The Maltese Falcon and Out of the Past, or in more modern films, Basic Instinct or No Country For Old Men. Street Drug Slang or Drugstore Perfume?

Don't ask me why, but the people who give hardcore street drugs their nicknames and the marketers responsible for naming the fragrances you find on the shelves at Rite Aid seem to have a very similar tastes. In fact, it's nearly impossible to tell one from the other. Actual street drugs are no laughing matter, but to be honest, I wonder how many of these names are really used, and how many of them are the products of anxious prevention literature and a healthy dose of Urban Dictionary. I won't call this quiz educational, per se, but you definitely will learn something, or at least end up trying to laugh as quietly as possible in your cubicle.

I love romance novel titles. They have some of the zaniest, least self-conscious names you can imagine, and the covers are just classic. Then again, there are some pretty wacky lipstick names out there, too. Your task, nay . . . quest is to discern which of these titles belong in lusty, loopy lettering on the covers of bodice rippers (featuring Fabio, preferably) and which ones are printed neatly on the bottom of a lipstick tube.
