Has Heidi Klum Made the Perfect Lipstick?

Did you know that Victoria's Secret Beauty is one of the best-selling brands in the country? Yep. Who knew? A revamp of the line's VS Makeup means it's worth a new look, and it probably doesn't hurt that Christian Siriano and Heidi Klum are collaborating on makeup collections for the brand. Heidi's latest endeavor is a collection of makeup inspired by her travels to the spiritual city of Varanasi, India. To that end, the jewel-toned packaging is gorgeously draped in golds, pinks, and purples.

I've been playing around with some of the products, and one thing stands out above everything else: Heidi Klum Perfect Lipstick ($16) in Exotic Spice. It's pretty much the perfect versatile shade of nude pink, and the moist and creamy formula has just a hint of shine. It works for a natural, low-key look as well as a glamorous nighttime one, and it just feels nice on the lips. I'm not absolutely crazy about the chocolate scent, but your mileage may vary. Either way, this has become my go-to shade - even if I don't look like Heidi with it on.

Christian Siriano Gets Ferosh For Victoria's Secret Makeup

Nobody wants to you look like a big ol' hot mess, especially not Christian Siriano. While you probably don't think of Project Runway's season four victor as a makeup designer, think again. Christian Siriano for Victoria's Secret Makeup has just made its official debut.

The limited-edition collection, encased in gold compacts and lettering, includes such fierceness as: five shades of eye shadow ($14 each); three lip gloss shades ($14 each); black eyeliner ($12); a bronzer-highlighter trio ($24); a face brush ($32); and a ruffled cosmetics bag ($16). Bella Bargain: Very Discounted Very Sexy

Later this year, Victoria's Secret Beauty plans to redesign and relaunch its makeup line. Until then, it's out with the old and in with the new. A large collection of goodies is now on clearance, with prices shaved up to 75 percent. The Very Sexy makeup is mostly half price, with eye shadows, lipsticks, and liquid eyeliner at $5.99. Or if you're not a makeup maven, the Secret Garden body care collection is crazy cheap, marked down to $1.99 from $9.

Christian Siriano Wants You to Have a Fierce Face

Christian Siriano's new endeavor is kind of a big deal. WWD reports that Project Runway champ Christian Siriano has created a line of cosmetics for Victoria's Secret Beauty.

Due in August - around the same time that his Payless shoe collection debuts - Christian Siriano for VS Makeup will feature shades inspired by his Fall clothing collection. The ferosh lineup will include five shades of eye shadow ($14 each); three lip gloss shades ($14 each); black eyeliner ($12); a bronzer-highlighter trio ($24); a face brush ($32); and a ruffled cosmetics bag ($16).

Also, expect to see the Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Makeup line revamped as VS Makeup, which will feature makeup items all under $20, and include more shades (180, to be precise), finishes, and updated packaging. As for Siriano's makeup, how fierce do you expect it to be? Will you be first in line to buy it - or at least give it a try?

You Can Look Like Heidi Klum! (Well, Kind Of.)

OK, so we can't all be a fabulous supermodel with a cute family and fat paycheck. But at least we can steal tidbits of Heidi Klum's style. She's just released her second signature makeup collection with Victoria's Secret, and it's more or less a seasonless, classic look. Her first makeup collection also had neutrals, but this time she's adding a touch of green.

Heidi designed the five-piece collection ($10–$22) with makeup artist Linda Hay, and the lipstick/lip gloss combo makes for one of those great, versatile color combinations. Combined with
Heidi's beauty secrets, you'll be well on your way to living like a supermodel - at least when it comes to filling your makeup bag.

Model of the Week: Marisa Miller

As the new face of Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Dare fragrance, Marisa Miller is on the road to being a one-namer (think Heidi, Cindy, Naomi). I caught up with her recently in New York and got her to spill some beauty secrets. Most surprising, however, was that the California native has eschewed suntanning over the last few years and believes it has saved her skin. "I was just talking to Linda Hay, the head makeup artist for Victoria's Secret, and she said my skin looks better now than when I started five years ago. It's because I‘ve stayed out of the sun the last two years."

So how do you stay tan?
Marisa Miller:
It’s not hard to find good self tanner that’s not orange anymore. There are so many products in the Bare Bronze line - shimmer makes a big difference on the skin for hiding imperfections. It’s all about the way the light hits your skin. This sheen in the Shimmering Body Oil reflects the light differently. [All the Victoria's Secret Angels] were like "more, more, more!" When you’re on that runway it’s all you, there’s no retouching. It’s live. That was definitely the big secret of the [Victoria's Secret Fashion] show.

That’s Victoria’s Secret! What are your other beauty secrets?
Marisa Miller: Linda just used this product from Australia -she’s Australian- called Lucas’ Papaw Ointment. It has papaya extract, which is great for cracked skin and insect bites. She puts it on my lips or anywhere that’s dry, like under your eyes, or even to get a little sheen. It’s a Vaseline-type texture.

How do you take care of yourself with all the traveling you do?
Marisa Miller: I probably travel three weeks out of every month. You try to sleep whenever you can. When I first started it was hard to sleep on a plane, but now I can sleep anytime anywhere. Whenever I can, I’ll leave a little conditioner on my ends or just have a really good moisturizer and eye cream on the plane. Drink a lot of water.

How do you keep your skin in shape?
Marisa Miller: Good skin is really important, so I make sure I go to the dermatologist. My doctor, Dr. [Harold A.] Lancer, has some really great products in his line. I make sure he checks out my freckles, it’s important to be on top of that with my skin. Staying out of the sun has made a world of difference. Not that you have to hide from the sun by any means, but it’s important to use sunscreen and do it in moderation. I get facials in L.A. I’ve been going to Rita Csizmadia for probably ten years. Basically it’s maintenance, like clogged pores and things like that from all the makeup. I try to squeeze in my appointments every month.

What are your makeup essentials?
Marisa Miller: Curling your lashes instantly makes you look more awake, so if I only have a couple of minutes that's what I do, followed by mascara. Mascara and bronzer, that’s the biggest thing. My favorite bronzer is Victoria's Secret Mosaic Bronzer in Goddess. It’s easy because you can use it on all skin types. And I love High Definition Mascara, I have it on right now. It’s lengthening and not clumpy and you get good volume. I’m definitely a low-maintenance beauty person.

Well, at least in your line of work you get people to do the maintaining for you!
Marisa Miller: I know! That's the best part - you get a mini makeover every time you work!

Which Hair Style Looks The Most Uplifting on Adriana Lima?

Adriana Lima has spent the past few months promoting a new Victoria's Secret bra, and in each of her three in-store appearances, she has styled her hair differently. The first is a center part with loose waves, the second is the modern half up, half down, and the last is a side part with straight hair.

I know that Adriana is getting paid to show up and sign autographs, but she always looks so enthusiastic. (I would, too, if I had her paycheck!) Out of these three sleek hairstyles, which do you like the most on this super-happy supermodel?

Product Review: Victoria's Secret Bare Bronze Gleaming Self-Tan Body Tint

Even though there are hundreds (thousands?) of self-tanners out there, I’m pretty lazy about using them. It’s just so much work to exfoliate, wipe on the tanner, and wait for the tan to build. I want instant results, dangit.

More or less, that’s what Victoria’s Secret Bare Bronze Gleaming Self-Tan Body Tint ($18) provides. This self-tanner lotion provides a shimmery tint right away, all the while working on the actual faux tan as well. When it comes out of the tube, it’s a disarmingly artificial shade of deep bronze. Fortunately, though, it spreads out evenly and smoothly on skin, and then it’s subtle (even on very pale complexions).

I decided to “tan up” before the Sugar girls’ Sex and the City premiere party. But of course, because I didn’t exactly think ahead, I also used this opportunity to test the product. This means that I wound up having one naturally pale leg and another tan one. Sexy!

Here’s a really, really flattering photo of my untouched leg and my Bare Bronzed leg immediately after application. As you can see, the treated leg has a little bit more shimmer and just a hint of color.

And here’s my leg just three hours later, shot from an equally attractive angle. It isn't a super-deep tan yet, but I can tell it's deepening.

I like Bare Bronze because it gives immediate gratification, and the eventual tan color isn’t orangey. I’m not so crazy about the fragrance; like so many Victoria’s Secret products, this one’s scent is too strong. All in all, though, it’s a good choice if you want to take baby steps into the world of self-tanning - and if you want to see a difference right away.

Product Review: Victoria's Secret Heavenly Kiss Fragrance

I'm usually not one to insult a product outright, but the new limited-edition Victoria's Secret Heavenly Kiss Eau de Parfum ($49) gets two thumbs down. I polled friends, neighbors, and family, and their reactions all included underwhelming words such as "ick, gross, too sweet, too strong, and really sugary."

I'd love to be able to defend the fragrance and explain that it's more than just sugar water, but as it turns out, it contains marshmallow and toffee notes. Has there ever been a time in your life that you've craved smelling like a candy store? I haven't.

The other notes in the scent are also edible ingredients coupled with sweet flowers. Among them are watermelon, red currant, berry, vanilla, freesia, guava, apricot, woods, musk, and jasmine. I'd be a little nervous wearing this in the dead of Summer knowing that I could be attacked by a swarm of wasps at any moment.

All kidding aside, I can't completely throw it under the bus. Because I like this brand, I've been able to find a few redeeming qualities, like the hopelessly romantic name and the gradated pink glass bottle. The packaging is cutesy too. It comes in a white box with a pink label and the word "kiss" written in varying fonts in gold lettering all over. Have you tried Heavenly Kiss? If so, I'd be interested in hearing what you think.

How-To: Karolina Kurková's Country Music Awards Makeup

Last night at the Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, model Karolina Kurkova glowed from the inside out on the red carpet.

The Czech beauty's hair was loose, long, layered, and shiny (despite being straight-ironed) and her makeup looked fresh, clean, and polished. Doesn't she just exude cheerfulness with that gorgeous high-wattage smile? FACE:  Terri began by applying Make Up Forever Face & Body Liquid Makeup all over her face to even out her complexion (this stuff is heavy, but genius). Then, she tapped a little bit of Amazing Cosmetics Concealer under her eyes to brighten up the area. Next, she dusted Amazing Cosmetics Powderset (translucent packed powder) all over to set the foundation and the concealer.
CHEEKS: Now that Karolina's skin was a flawless canvas, Terri wanted to add a little bit of color and warmth to her cheeks. She used P3 Beauty Blush in Mild Pink and Victoria’s Secret Mosaic Bronzer in Goddess to create a pinky-bronze and sun-kissed effect.
EYES: Terry used P3 Beauty Cashmere Quad Shadow on Karolina's lids and then she lined her upper lashes with MAC Fluidliner in Blacktrack. For added shimmer, she dusted a touch of Scott Barnes Eye Ice in Glitterachi on the lower lashes and on her cheekbones. Then she applied two coats of Victoria’s Secret Very Voluptuous Extreme Volume Mascara to her top and bottom lashes before filling in her delicate blond brows with Anastasia’s Perfect Brow Pencil in Ash Blonde.
LIPS: Karolina's lips are lined in a flesh-toned lip liner and then lightly filled in. On top, she's wearing P3 Beauty Orange Fizz Jojoba Lip Slick.
