Wet 'n' Wild Mega Eyes Defining Marker in Blackest Black ($4) is probably the best deal you can get on a felt tip eyeliner pen. It's not waterproof, so no waterlining, and the color is a little thin, but if your usual beauty routine includes light lining on your lids, you can't do better than this. The formula is thin enough so that it's not dramatic, but it's still very visible three hours after application. It's easy to handle, and the liquid came out evenly and wasn't runny, a problem with a lot of liner pens more expensive than this one. I expect that the pen is going to dry out pretty quickly, but then again most felt tips do, so no big loss there. If you want something highly pigmented to fall in love with, this probably isn't what you're looking for. But if you want an inexpensive and extremely easy-to-use liner marker, it's a definite try.

October is a great month for cheap beauty, not only because all the fun seasonal products are coming out now, but also because the absurdly inexpensive Halloween makeup that's on the shelves can be surprisingly trendy and high quality. The granddaddy of the cheap Halloween makeup lines is, of course, Fantasy Makers, Wet 'n' Wild's special effects line. This year so far, my biggest steal has been Extreme Blue Monster's Ball Polish, which is exactly the shade of blue that was all over the runways last month. I'm also a fan of the line's red body wand, which has a consistency similar to Tarte cheek stain, a color a lot like Benetint, and costs less than $2 at my Walgreens. The brand also makes what are by far the cheapest feather fake eyelashes on the market. The only catch is that the stores carrying them don't have them listed on their websites, so you're gonna have to go scope them out yourselves. It's totally worth it, though. There's bargains in them there jack-o'-lanterns, ladies - go get 'em.

Doing Drugstore: Wet 'n' Wild Wild Shine Nail Color

You all know by now that I usually love some Wet 'n' Wild makeup. It's not just the ridiculous name - the brand makes several products that I swear work just as well as $20 or $30 versions. Their Wild Shine Nail Polish ($1.29), however, is not one of those products. I know, you're thinking, "Bella, why are you surprised/disappointed with $1.29 nail polish? It probably costs the same as dipping your nails in ketchup would, and the ketchup is probably more moisturizing." And you're right, my expectations should not have been so high, and I bet ketchup makes a nice cuticle treatment. The shade I picked up, Dream Poppy, perfectly matched my new sexyface lip gloss, though, and has a hilarious opium reference for a name, so I was really excited. But then it took me four coats just to get it sort of non-transparent, and even now, beneath five coats, you can still definitely see where the whites of my nails begin. Is this true of all their colors, fellow Wet 'n' Wild fans? Or did I just get a bad shade/batch?

To find a product that works and costs under $5 is pretty amazing. Add natural ingredients and eco-friendly packaging to the mix, and it's even better. That's just what reader Sarasonne has found in Wet 'n' Wild Natural Wear 100 Percent Natural Pressed Powder. Here's what she had to say about the product:

I haven't tried a Wet 'n' Wild product in years. And given the price of many cosmetics are these days, why not? I really liked this. It's got a nice medium/sheer coverage that feels silky. I was most impressed with the shades as they offer different tones (warm vs. cool). I took off a star because it doesn't last that long and also because I didn't notice any "light diffusing." It's actually quite matte. I appreciate the eco-friendly packaging, but would be afraid if the cardboard ever got exposed to moisture.

How-To: Maggie Q's Fresh Face in Five Minutes

We already know that actress Maggie Q does glamazon-gorgeous well, but it's fun to see her hit the red carpet with a more natural (yet equally beautiful) look as well. At the premiere of The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, she looks bright-eyed and beautiful. To fake this look at home in five minutes, all you need is a five-step process. For the scoop, read more.

Minute one: Start with a clean, moisturized face. Apply a tinted moisturizer with SPF, then conceal any blemishes.
Minute two: Smile to make the apples of your cheeks more prominent, then blend a light pink cream blush from the apples toward the hairline.
Minute three: Apply a luminizer, such as Benefit High Beam, on your cheekbones, brow bone, and collarbone. This will reflect light and give you a natural-looking glow.
Minute four: Curl your eyelashes. (Here's how.) This seems like a superfluous step, but curling will give you a bright-eyed look. Follow by sweeping the top eyelashes with a coat or two of mascara.
Minute five: Use a nude-colored pencil lip liner (try Wet n' Wild #666, a cheap but versatile shade) to fill in your lips, then dab lip balm on top.

See? Easy!

Reader Review of the Day: Wet 'n' Wild Creme Lipliner Pencil

A few weeks ago I picked one of my favorite drugstore classics, Wet 'n' Wild Creme Lipliner Pencil ($1.50) in Brandywine (#666, ooh, scary!). While sifting through the display, I also purchased Willow (#712), another flattering shade in the line. Reader Michlny and I must be thinking alike, as she recently reviewed this go-to liner, giving it four out of five stars. Here's what she had to say:

My $.99 Wet 'n' Wild works just as well as my MAC liners. If you're looking to spend less - liner is a great place to start. . . I find myself sharpening the Wet 'n' Wild a bit more, so it gets used up more quickly. But, who cares? They're so cheap.

Recently reader Nakeeyark was in a pinch. A "Buy Two, Get One Free" sale at her local drugstore prompted her to try out Wet 'n' Wild's H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner in Ultra Black ($4). She was impressed with this basic black shade, and here's what she had to say:

"I'm not a huge fan of liquid eyeliner. I much prefer MAC's gel Fluidlines. However, I needed some black eyeliner as I didnt have any to wear with my red lipstick. The staying power is unbelieveably good, and the black is a true black - no blue or brown to be found. I think the brush part of the handle is a tad too long, making it kind of difficult to apply the eyeliner, so I will probably cut the brush into a slant. For the price, however, this can't be beat."

Doing Drugstore: Wet N Wild Mega Glo Illuminating Powder

When I think of Wet N Wild, I think of one of two things: a water park extravaganza, or a bubble gum-popping teen cosmetics brand. So, the grown-up in me was surprised to be drawn to the brand's Mega Glo Illuminating Powder ($3.99).

I do have a bit of a soft spot for the brand, seeing as it was on my go-to list of drugstore buys in junior high. This powder is a dynamic combination of a blush, bronzer, and brightener which instantly gave me a rosy-cheeked glow reminiscent of my days of youth, as if I was back in Mrs. Betteridge's eighth-grade homeroom.

The product comes in four shades, each featuring four colors that can be easily blended or worn alone as a blush or eye shadow. After swirling a powder brush into the product to collect the multi-hued shades, I swept it on the apples of my cheeks and lightly touched upon any areas where the sun might naturally hit (tip of nose, around the hairline, eyebrow area, and jawline). I give this illuminating powder high marks for the way it brightens without causing excess shine, the fact that it's a multitasker, the natural sun-kissed look it gave, and the amazing value. Even though I had to reapply it a few times, it still gets a gold star.

Trend Alert: Gray Nail Polish

Usually the color gray is reserved for cashmere, not cosmetics. But as it turns out, gray is continuing the transition into beauty products, and it can be a chic and versatile color for nails. Leading the way is the always-innovative Rescue Beauty Lounge with its dove-gray shade Concrete Jungle ($18).

A great and inexpensive alternative is Revlon's Steel-Etto from its Dark Pleasures line. It's a little darker, incorporating a beautiful shimmery silver tone into the hue. Beauty Marked! Liquid Eyeliner

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Thanks for all of your excellent suggestions for last week's Beauty Mark It challenge. You found some good ones! Before I share them, though, I want to address some of your questions about liquid liner.

Practically nobody gets liquid eyeliner right on her first try-or for that matter, her second, third or fourth try. While this product isn't impossible to master, it does take practice to get to a point where you can apply it easily. If you're a novice, start by using the liner brush on your hand; that way, you can see how different pressure works. From there, you can work on your eyes.

If you need some liquid eyeliner suggestions, read on. Erinjg says Almay liquid eyeliner is "wickedly long-lasting, yet has never irritated my contact lenses." And Jlgb4008 raves about Wet N Wild MegaLiner, saying, "It has fine-tip brush, so it's easy to apply thick or thin lines easily."
