Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour took fashion risks with her outfit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala - bet Fab is going to have something to say about that! I was surprised to see that she changed her signature beauty look a bit, too. You don't need to be Miss Cleo to know that Anna would wear her hair in a bob, but she usually favors a neutral lip. Not this time; instead, raspberry-hued lips give her a feisty look. What do you think?

I can only imagine the joy that Anna Wintour must be feeling now that her signature haircut is setting trends. As they say, fashion, beauty, and history are cyclical and this time around, Anna is ahead of the game. This hairstyle is sometimes called the pageboy, and its first swell of popularity started with actress Louise Brooks.

This short, chic style especially flatters those with round and square face shapes. I wonder how long this trend will last, but with Katie Holmes and Mary J. Blige on the bandwagon, something tells me more A-listers will follow suit soon.

Why Don't Beauty Editors Wear Lots of Makeup?

Last night, the launch party for Stylist brought out Gwen Stefani, Anna Sui, Anna Wintour and other fashionable ladies. When I looked at the pictures, I noticed that while Gwen and Anna Sui wore bold red lips, the magazine editors went with barely-there makeup. Both Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Allure editor Linda Wells (shown here) wore light, natural colors.

This is actually typical of most fashion and beauty editors I've known. You'd think that being surrounded by literally hundreds of beauty products would make them go bonkers with the stuff, but instead, they generally rock the natural look. (And for the record, lots of people think I don't wear makeup because it looks understated. Little do they know!) I have my theories as to why editors go for a natural-but-glowing look, but I'm curious: What do you think is behind this phenomenon?

Bee Shaffer definitely got the style gene from her mother, the infamous Vogue editor Anna Wintour. At the premiere of The September Issue, her pitch-perfect hair and makeup were accentuated by her subtle, sexy smoky eye.

The secret to this sophisticated look is the unconventional shades used. Instead of black and gray, slightly glittery green liner close to the lash rim makes her eyes pop, while a dusty lilac eyeshadow layered over a fawn base creates depth and drama. Does Dyeing Your Hair Blond Really Make You Look Younger?

This is one of those things I always hear, and a lot of women, like Anna Wintour here, do seem to opt for blond as they get older. I always assumed women go blond in their 40s and 50s because it's the easiest way to cover gray, but I've heard some vague evolutionary biology stuff thrown around, too, where people say that blond = youth. Because babies have lighter hair than adults, generally, blondes read as more fertile and youthful. But I just don't see it. It seems to me that a flattering shade is a lot more effective than just going lighter, and tons of babies are born with beautiful black hair. What do you think? Is there some truth to this, or is it all pseudo-science and no substance?
