A friend who shall remain nameless shared a confession over brunch this past weekend: when she has houseguests, she switches out her Kiehl's shower gel for a drugstore cleanser. She views the Kiehl's as a treat, and after a guest once used half of it in one sitting, she now hoards and hides it for her own use. I'd like to say that I don't do this, but I've hidden my favorite soap from my pre-teen nephew.

Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Studio 54 was the place to be. During its heyday, the Manhattan discothèque was notorious for its jet-setting crowd of celebrities and socialites, and among other things, its reputation for drugs and illicit sexual liaisons among some of those in attendance. All hedonism aside, it was also an era where fluffy hair, lots of makeup, and sparkled accessories reigned supreme.

I know that most of you aren't fans of animal testing, but what about animal ingredients? Traditional fragrance ingredients like musk and civet are taken from musk deer and cats, respectively, and entail killing the animal. Aside from the ethics involved in killing animals like these in the first place, there's also the fact that there are lab-synthesized versions of these substances available.
